Considering how variable the last 3 years have been this is remarkable consistency and shows an ability to adapt strategy in different seasons. It also gives you a view other than my own on strategy and player selection. A bad week with 7 of the 10 having red arrows. The stats of the top 10 managers are incredible again this season.
1. The overall average finishing position of the top 10 managers is 2,943
2. The top 10 FPL managers have not been out of the top 10k in the last 3 years (ie 30 times playing)
3. 9 of the 10 have finished in the top 1,000
GAMEWEEK SUMMARY
A bad week for the top 10 FPL managers. 7 of the 10 had red arrows.
The average score of the managers in GW22 was 52 compared to the average of 46. Thats 6 points and 13% above the average score. The high score of the 10 was 69. The low score was 30. This continues with the theme of high spreads of 39 for the gameweek.
The average overall rank of the top 10 FPL managers saw a small worsening to 236k compared to the last gameweek of 224k. A worsening of rank of 14k. The best rank is around 300 and the lowest 761k. A couple of scores are distorting the average. If you calculated the median rank then that worsened to 149k compared to 139k last gameweek. An worsening of rank of 10k. At the moment 3 have overall ranks inside 100k. 2 are inside the top 10k.
The average value sees a slight rise to £105.0 from £104.8m in the last gameweek
If you’re interested my score was a good one of 59. Only 3 of the managers had a better gameweek score. My overall rank is now 224k compared to 255k last gameweek. An improvement of rank of 31k. I’m now ahead of 4 of the top 10 managers. My team value is low in comparison at £102.1m the same as the last gameweek. My total score is 1174 points.

The top 10k average score was 55 compared to the Top FPL managers of 52.

FOCUS ON 1 MANAGERS TEAM
Again we focus on the managers team who last season finished the highest of my then top 10 FPL managers ending up in 1,400th position. This manager is the closest thing to a fantasy football celebrity there is due to his consistent results so we’ll keep an eye on him.
At present he has a 26k overall rank, an improvement in rank of 7k from the last gameweek of 33k. His total points are 1,246 after a good score of 63 this gameweek. Just to give you a bit of context his last 3 years overall rankings have been 1,450, 277 and 90.
He just did a transfer this week of Allen to Lallana for the Swansea game so I’m going for him rolling it over this week.
THE HIGHEST SCORING AND LOWEST SCORING MANAGERS IN GW22
Highest scorer
This is the highest score of 69 points taking him to 143k
Lowest scorer
A low score of 30 which sees him fall to 291k. To show you how hard this season is his last 3 seasons scores are 6,162 930 and 3,391. That shows you what a difficult season it is even for the best managers
The different formations make comparison a bit distorted but it’s still highly relevant.
The bulk of the difference again came in , yes you guessed it defence. Although the top scorer had 1 more player he got 38 points compared to the lowest scorer of 3 points. Incredible that 35 of 39 points difference could come from defence. The captain effect accounted for 6 points. Even more incredible if you ignore the captain effect, the lowest scoring managers teams attacking players scored slightly more points.
Unbelievable.
TOP 10 MANAGERS COMBINED TEAM
Here’s a team to represent the top 10 managers. Those highlighted are where it’s different to my team. It’s unaffordable at around £109m but now I’m presenting it as a menu rather than an achievable team.
Here’s the core team of players owed by more than 50% of the FPL managers. The highlighted non grey ones are those above 50%
The core players are then 5 Ibra, Lallana, Hazard, Sanchez and Alonso. Ignore Amat as a benchwarming cheapie.
That means there are alot of variable gaps to fill. This helps to explain the wide range of scores
If you cross reference this with the top 10k managers with players over 50% then by that only Ibrahimovic and Sanchez are the essentials
