Here’s our fantasy premier league GW24 tips article where we analyse the teams of 10 top FPL managers. These 10 managers have not finished outside the overall rank of the top 10k in the last 3 seasons. Considering how variable the last 3 years have been this is remarkable consistency and shows an ability to adapt strategy in different seasons. It also gives you a view other than my own on strategy and player selection.

THE 10 MANAGERS STATS
This season we welcome back 4 of last seasons managers who were the subject of our article. We add to that a new 6 managers. Stats of these managers are unbelievable and every bit as impressive as last season
1. The overall average finishing overall rank of the top 10 managers in the last 3 seasons is 2,963
2. The top 10 FPL managers have not been out of the top 10k in the last 3 seasons (ie 30 times playing)
3. All 10 have finished in the top 1,000 in the last 3 seasons
GAMEWEEK REVIEW
A great week for the top 10 FPL managers. 9/10 had green arrows.
The average score of the managers in GW23 was 82 compared to the game average of 58. That’s 24 points and 41% above the game average score. High score of the 10 was 95. The low score was 62. A high spread of 33 even for a fairly high scoring gameweek.
The average overall rank of the top 10 FPL managers saw an improvement of rank to 230k compared to 286k in the last gameweek. An average rank improvement of 56k. The best overall rank is 14k and the lowest 907k.
The average total points are 1,317
The average value improved to £104.3m
If you’re interested my score was pretty ordinary at 68 with my accidental free hit chip. It resulted in a 5k red arrow with my overall rank moving to 31k. I had a higher score than only 2 of the 10 managers. I’m ahead in OR terms at the moment of 8 of the 10 managers. My team value is slightly higher at £104.1m up £0.3m from the last gameweek. FOCUS ON 1 MANAGERS TEAM
The celebrity manager we followed last season finished around the 20k mark so he’s not in the group this season. This season were going to focus on the manager each week who had the highest finish last season with an amazing overall rank of 15 believe it or not. The 3 years before that his ranks were 5,529. 1, 550 and 759. Unbelievable.
An ordinary score of 62 for the manager achieved with 4 point deduction. He was the lowest scorer for the gameweek and his rank is now 199k. A worsening of rank of 58k from the last gameweek rank of 199k. His points total is 1,295. He’s the 7th ranked of the 10 FPL managers.
THE HIGHEST SCORER
This score was from the FFGeek contributor FPL Word. His score was 95 and takes him to 29k OR
THE LOWEST SCORER
That was our focus manager above with 62. A 33 point difference made up in the 3 typical categories as follows:
Defence – 0 points difference
Captain – 0 points positive to the lowest scoring team
1 or 2 attacking players – Only 3 attacking players were different. Son, Arnautovic and Salah compared to Hazard, Alli and an additional defender. Those 3 players made a difference of 33 points.
I hear alot of FPL managers think you’ve got to be drastically different to gain points but it really isn’t the case.

Who will hurt your rank if you don’t own them
See my article explaining the theory from last week. I disregard low risk players like Elliot for example.
Using my rule of thumb of owned by 7/10 of the top 10 FPL managers or 70% of the top 10k then the following players are in that category:
Alonso – 7/10 plus Chelsea defence 99%
Jones – 7/10 plus Man Utd defence 87%
Otamendi – 69% (I’ll give him the 1%)
Lingard – 7/10
Arnautovic – 8/10
Sterling – 8/10 plus 83%
Salah – 80%
Kane – 9/10 plus 76%
That may seem to hamstring your team given it’s 8 players but captain choices and 1 or 2 other players can still make a difference every week even if you’re chasing. The ones that qualify in both categories are the most dangerous not to own
