FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW25 PREMIUM MIDFIELDER TIPS – PLAYER RANKINGS
First it’s important to remember that each player is ranked as a transfer target for this week. So while we generally look at fixtures form and underlying stats a player who’s away to Man City is going to be ranked lower than someone home to Huddersfield for example. If possible a transfer should have a good fixture first up.
Firstly there’s a table of stats. Then there’s a bit of brief commentary on each player and their next 6 fixtures.
This is the 2nd player rankings article. There’s a defenders player rankings article . You may also find it interesting to see who the 10 top FPL managers I follow have, who the bandwagons are

SALAH
The Liverpool RAM may have blanked v Swansea but it wasn’t for the lack of trying.
Salah ticks every box for me. He’s consistent yet still explosive and also hoovers up bonus points. No midfielder has better underlying stats
Huddersfield (A)
Spurs (H)
Southampton (A)
West Ham (H)
Newcastle (H)
Man Utd (A)
STERLING
The City AM did everything but score vs Newcastle but did come away with an assist. Returns and underlying stats have dipped a tad in the last 4 games and he isn’t as consistent as Salah but for me he’s 2nd only as an FPl midfielder 2nd to Salah and the master of being in the right place at the right time for a tap in.
West Brom (H)
Burnley (A)
Leicester (H)
Arsenal (A)
Chelsea (H)
Stoke (A)
Hazard
Hazard is the conundrum of positives and negatives. The positives at the moment are secure gametime, great next 3 fixtures, penalties, a bonus points maestro and the ability to score big.
His negatives are an appalling lack of consistency, pretty ordinary underlying stats and a hefty price tag. He has shown an ability to over perform the underlying stats which may mitigate that negative for you.
Bournemouth (H)
Watford (A)
West Brom (H)
Man Utd (A)
Man City (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Sane
Sane has come back into the reckong for Pep recently starting 6 of the last 7. On the positive side he’s shown himself to be a consistent returner as well as being one of the most explosive with a very high 10+ FPL points percentage.
However he has struggled with bonus points with only 11 for the season and while his underlying stats overall are ok. However his recent ones and 19 FPL points in his last 4 games have been a tad underwhelming
West Brom (H)
Burnley (A)
Leicester (H)
Arsenal (A)
Chelsea (H)
Stoke (A)
Son HM
If you’re willing to look past his invisibility act in GW24 vs Southampton you have a guy with great returns for the season and in great recent form. His ability to use his advanced position to pop up in the 6 yard box Raheem style is always going to make him a goal threat. His excellent underlying stats show that has been no fluke and he also is starting to look an important member of the team.
If you’re looking for negatives his returns haven’t been delivered particularly consistently. Also despite his excellent form you would have to say that the return of Alderweireld and a possible back 3 that may bring, could put his place in jeopardy. As also could the interest in PSG’s Lucas Moura although he is more right sided. I personally find it difficult to believe he could return to the bench but the argument can be made.
The next 3 fixtures are also incredibly tricky
Man Utd (H)
Liverpool (A)
Arsenal (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Huddersfield (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Mane
Easy to overlook when you’ve got Salah as a Liverpool option. Mane should be the main positional beneficiary of the Coutinho move to take up a regular position in the front 3. He has been consistently picking up goals and assists and while his returns are ok an inability to pick up bonus points have made that consistency a steady flow without there ever been a risk of a sudden flood of points. Underlying stats are ok.
Huddersfield (A)
Spurs (H)
Southampton (A)
West Ham (H)
Newcastle (H)
Man Utd (A)
Sanchez
Sanchez’s season for Arsenal has been pretty underwhelming for his rather lofty price. His returns have been pretty ordinary even though he has been fairly consistently ticking over without setting the world alight.
On the positive side his last 4 starts have seen him produce 29 points and his underlying stats are up there with the best.
How that translates to his Manchester United career remains to be seen but his quality is undoubted and unburdened by the whole transfer saga we may see the Sanchez we really know is there somewhere
Spurs (A)
Huddersfield (H)
Newcastle (A)
Chelsea (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)
Martial
Martial when on the pitch has been quite outstanding this season. Fantastic consistent returns backed up by underlyings stats that are among the best.
The only unknown is pitch time, further complicated by the Sanchez arrival. While they in theory occupy the same position it’s hard to believe that there isn’t enough flexibility for them both to play. Martial has started and scored in his last 3 games
Spurs (A)
Huddersfield (H)
Newcastle (A)
Chelsea (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)
Pogba
28 points in his last 4 games have seen Pogba back in the FPL frame. In truth he’s rather hamstrung by the position he plays as when he’s not hampered by defensive duties he tends to produce better performances unsurprisingly. You know you are going to get 90 minutes from him and his fitness levels mean he’s always there after 80 minutes for a tap in on the counter.
He’s another player who’s consistently been ticking over and has good recent form. A tricky game next and another player with an aversion to bonus
Spurs (A)
Huddersfield (H)
Newcastle (A)
Chelsea (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)
Mahrez
Mahrez is an incredibly easy one to sum up.
Everything is great. Great fixtures, returns, consistency, has set piece responsibility, secure gametime. Well almost everything.
The only negative is his very ordinary underlying stats. Now you can look at this in 3 ways. The first is so what, the 2nd is that he has shown he can over perform them in the past so what’s the problem, the 3rd is that it’s all built on sand and outside the box screamers and regression is nigh. Take your pick
Everton (A)
Swansea (H)
Man City (A)
Stoke (H)
Bournemouth (H)
West Brom (A)
De Bruyne
De Bruyne is a little hindered by his price compared to Sane and Sterling. However the principle point of debate is that De Bruyne is a virtually the same narrative as Mahrez although he has the advantage of secure gametime in the world of Pep and Ageuro/Jesus to finish off chances.
West Brom (H)
Burnley (A)
Leicester (H)
Arsenal (A)
Chelsea (H)
Stoke (A)
