bandwagons and sinking ships, Fantasy Premier League

Here’s our fantasy premier league GW27 article where we outline and give a view on the most transferred in players so far in the gameweek (the bandwagons) and the most transferred out (the sinking ships). There’s a table of stats on each as well as some narrative on their prospects and their next fixtures

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW27 – THE BANDWAGONS AND SINKING SHIPS

BACKGROUND – BLANK AND DOUBLE GAMEWEEKS

Potential DGW27

If Man City win their FA Cup replay at home to Huddersfield on the 1st March this will give them an announced DGW27 with fixtures away to Sunderland and home to Stoke. If Man City lose then the fixture will stay in GW28 and they will not have a DGW.

GW28

GW28 is FA Cup quarter final week. Games involving teams in the quarters will be postponed leading to a much reduced fixture list. In fact only 4 confirmed at the moment

Here’s the GW28 fixtures as per the FPL website at the moment:

THE BANDWAGONS

These are the 5 most transferred in players so far in the gameweek. The fixt ease is for the next 6 and 3 game weeks.  See the full article here

GABBIADINI

Southampton have no fixture in GW28

The Southampton forward has  made a sensational start to his premier league career.  3 goals in his 2 first premier league games (albeit against West Ham and Sunderland) were impressive.  2 goals and a wrongly disallowed goal against Man Utd in the EFL Cup final though showed that he has the ability to do it against the best defences.  His 2 seasons for Napoli seemed to be notable for the lack of starts.  This season in Serie A he played 517 minutes for 3 goals and 0 assists at a goal or assist every 172 minutes which is pretty ordinary.  15/16  was much better though with 5 goals and 3 assists in 544 minutes at a goal or assist every 68 minutes.  Thats very impressive. So the potential is there.   The difficulty is the blank week in GW28.

Next 6 fixtures:

Watford (A)
Blank GW28
Spurs (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Crystal Palace (H)
West Brom (A)

PEDRO

Chelsea have no fixture in GW28

The Chelsea RAM is part of the lethal Chelsea front 3 and by far the cheapest.  He is in great form though with 2 goals and 1 assist in his last 2.  He seems to have ousted Willian from the starting spot for the position which was one of his risks.  He’s always will be a 90 minute risk although 2 of the last 3 games have seen him get into the 80’s

West Ham (A)
Blank GW28
Stoke (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Man City (H)
Bournemouth (A)

SIGURDSSON

The Swansea LAM and only midfielder in FPL who takes pens and has all direct and indirect set pieces plus plays in an advanced position.  In great form and good fixtures to come plus no blank GW28

Burnley (H)
Hull (A)
Bournemouth (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
Spurs (H)
West Ham (A)

STERLING

The Man City RAM has returned in his last 4 games and has been fairly consistent all season.  Has started the last 10 with pretty good minutes despite the competition for places.  However rotation is always going to be a risk in Peps team while they are in 3 competitions.  He’s also a little wide for me and despite racking up the assists has only scored 2 since gameweek 7 .  Given De Bruynes cost if you’re going for a 2nd City player for the potential DGW37 then he’s probably the obvious one.

Sunderland (A) Stoke (H) – Potential DGW27
Potential Blank GW28
Liverpool (H)
Arsenal (A)
Chelsea (A)
Hull (H)

LlORENTE

The Swansea forward has 3 goals in the 7 games since Clement became manager returning in 2 of those games.  Since Clement became the manager he has became the undisputed number 1 forward.  The attraction is about fixtures though.  However it’s hard to go above Sigurdsson as the number 1 Swansea pick and doubling up on Swansea would be a big call

West Ham (A)
Blank GW28
Stoke (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Man City (H)
Bournemouth (A)

THE SINKING SHIPS

These are the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek.  The fixt ease is for the next 6 and 3 game weeks.  See the full article here

PHILLIPS

The WBA attacking midfielder had an unexpected injury which prevented him starting against Bournemouth.  For those managers who’ve stuck with him for 5 consecutive blanks that was understandably the last straw.  However WBA are 1 of 8 teams with a fixture guaranteed in GW28 so it’s probably a strange time to ditch him

Crystal Palace (H)
Everton (A)
Arsenal (H)
Man Utd (A)
Watford (A)
Southampton (H)

DEFOE

A game against Man City is always a good time to exit a player and I’m sure that’s mind of many FPL managers that are ditching the Sunderland striker now.  2 goals and only 1 returning game in the last 5 is possibly not helping as well as the blank in GW28.

Man City (H)
Middlesbrough (A)
Blank GW28
Watford (A)
Leicester (A)
Man Utd (H)

ANTONIO

A rather bizarre sending off for a 2nd yellow hand ball means the West Ham Utility player will miss GW27.  However he is in the group of 8 teams with a guaranteed fixture in GW28 (against Bournemouth as well)  so I may have chosen to bench him for this gameweek.  Has been playing striker but has struggled to return in that position with 1 assist in his last 4.  However he was excellent against Watford and only bad luck prevented him not scoring.  I expect him to return to his better RAM position when Carroll is back hopefully for that juicy GW28 fixture

Chelsea (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Leicester (H)
Hull (A)
Arsenal (A)
Swansea (H)

GABRIEL JESUS

The Man City forward is out with a broken Metertarsal and was expected to be out for the season.  There has been a recent report that he could be back for the end of April.  Whatever the case he is a definite sell with Aguero likely to be back in his place

Sunderland (A) Stoke (H) – Potential DGW27
Potential Blank GW28
Liverpool (H)
Arsenal (A)
Chelsea (A)
Hull (H)

LUKAKU

Strange one this.  The Everton forward has been in pretty good form and has a guaranteed fixture in GW28 so this is a bit hard to understand even if the fixture is a good one to exit on.

Spurs (A)
West Brom (H)
Hull (H)
Liverpool (A)
Man Utd (A)
Leicester (H)
