FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW27 BUDGET MIDFIELDER TIPS – PLAYER RANKINGS

First it’s important to remember that each player is ranked as a transfer target for this week. So while we generally look at fixtures form and underlying stats a player who’s away to Man City is going to be ranked lower than someone home to Huddersfield for example. If possible a transfer should have a good fixture first up.

Firstly there’s a table of stats. Then there’s a bit of brief commentary on each player and their next 6 fixtures.

This is the 3rdd player rankings article. There’s a defenders player rankings article and a premium midfielder player rankings article . You may also find it interesting to see who the 10 top FPL managers I follow have and who the GW27 bandwagons are

STATS DEFINITIONS

Fixt Ease: The ease of the mentioned fixture range from an attacking perspective. See our GW27 fixture ease article. I’ve gone to GW31 with the fixture ease as that’s where the fixture schedule could drastically change due to the FA Cup quarter final clashes with PL matches.

Mins per FPL Pt. The amount of minutes a player takes to earn an FPL point. The shorter and obviously lower the number is the better

ATGS – the bookies anytime goalscoring odds for GW27.

xG and xA per 90 – the expected goals and assists per 90 minutes played from the better than excellent site understat.com. I’ve used the midfield underlying stats ranking for the top 100 midfielders in our expected goals article.  You can see last weeks results in Joseph Crilleys GW26 review

THE SCHEDULE

Firstly I’d like to say it’s impossible to rank every cheap player but here’s a few.

 Gross

The Brighton CAM and set piece man has 5 goals and 6 assists in 24 starts plus 2 sub appearances.  He’s pretty inconsistent only returning a goal or assist in 33% of his games but he does have the ability to score big.  His 13 point FPL haul put paid to 6 consecutive blanks and 1 goal in the last 11 games. My bandwagons article talks about him in more depth

Everton (A)

Shaqiri

The Stoke right sided attacking midfielder and set piece man finally broke a run of 1 assist in 9 games with his goal v Bournemouth.  For his price he’s reasonably consistent (having said that) with 9 returning games in 23 starts which is 43% for his 5 goals and 6 assists.

Brighton (H)
Leicester (A)
Southampton (A)
Man City (H)

Deulofeu

The Watford player is on loan from Barcelona and was excellent in Watford’s win over a, frankly, terrible Chelsea side as a CAM, although he is more regularly a RW.   It was a goal and assist plus 3 bonus points making it 13 FPL points.  He also took corners in the Chelsea game.

He’s had 3 seasons previously in the PL. 16/17 was poor with 11 appearances for 460 minutes seeing no goals or assists. The previous 2 seasons for Everton though were more productive with 5 goals and 13 assists at a goal or assist every 127 minutes and an FPL point every 16 minutes.  Also in the bandwagons article

West Ham (A)
Everton (H)
West Brom (H)
Arsenal (A)

Ward Prowse

The Southampton set piece specialist has started 8 of the last 9 and recently as an attacking right sided midfielder.  He’s now on 3 goals and 4 assists in his 14 starts plus 7 as a sub.  Recent form has been good with 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 4.  That’s backed up as well by very impressive recent underlying stats.  Next 2 fixtures are tricky.

Liverpool (H)
Burnley (A)
Stoke (H)
Newcastle (A)

Ibe

A couple of good fixtures next make it a reasonable entry point for the Bournemouth.  He’s generally playing as a CAM or on the right side of a front 3.  He’s now started the last 9 and got to 90 minutes in 6 of those games.  His last 5 games have seen a goal and 3 assists although only 2 bonus points.

Huddersfield (A)
Newcastle (H)
Leicester (A)
Spurs (H)

Gudmundsson

The right sided midfielder has made the position his own having started the last 17 and playing 90 minutes in 15 of those.  Albeit he has competition from Arfield and Lennon who he swapped wings with during the game v Man City.  His position makes him slightly more assist biased and those 17 games have seen 2 goals plus 4 assists.

Swansea (A)
Southampton (H)
Everton (H)
West Ham (A)

Milivojevic

It’s rare to see a player at this price with penalty responsibilities and that’s the only reason for his inclusion as positionally he’s a CDM.  Probably diminished as an asset with Zaha out for a month as Zaha with his pace and trickery is the most likely to win penalties in the Palace team.

Everton (A)
Spurs (H)
Man Utd (H)
Chelsea (A)
