FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW28 PLAYER PICKS BY ROB REID (THE FPL VET)

Here’s a link to Robs January and February review

Hi and welcome to Gameweek 28 Player Picks. For each gameweek, I’ll be picking out 3 players in distinct player selection categories.

One Banker – this will take form and the fixture ease schedule into account and is a player who I think is a must for the next few gameweeks and should provide a steady stream of points.

One Ace – a player who I think has a good chance of scoring big this week. I’ll take form, this weeks fixtures and the bookies odds into account here.

One Joker – a player who is a bit of punt but I think may surprise a few people. Might be a low ownership player, someone coming back from injury or just a bit of a gut feeling on my part – there will be no evidence base on this one!

Gameweek 27 Review

GW24 Banker – Sergio Aguero

GW24 – 17 points (3 goals, 3 bonus points)
GW25 – 6 points (1 goal)
GW26 – 2 points
GW27 – 21 points (4 goals, 3 bonus points) Boom! Another bumper haul from Kun to finish his Banker stint, a big return over the last 4 weeks indeed and super-explosive! 2 tough fixtures next versus Arsenal and Chelsea with the League Cup Final thrown in at the start as well. You wouldn’t bank against him in any of these fixtures though, he can score against anyone

GW25 Banker – Riyad Mahrez

GW25 – 0 points (didn’t play)
GW26 – 0 points (didn’t play)
GW27 – 1 point – A sub appearance but green shoots of him coming back into The Foxes line-up for the rest of the season. Fixtures are superb until until GW38 and could also have 2 double gameweeks.

GW26 Banker – Phil Jones

GW26 – 0 points (didn’t play)
GW27 – 2 points – Played against Newcastle but now possibly injured again for the visit of Chelsea this week. Unfortunately, injuries are always the risk with Jones, De Gea at the higher price point gives the more security in defence.

GW27 Banker – Mo Salah

GW27 – 13 points (1 goal, 1 assist, 2 bonus points) – Another double figure score for the Egyptian, you just have to own him for these next few weeks. He’ll be very heavily captained in the blank GW31, if he’s not in your team prepare for Overall Ranking pain!

GW27 Ace – Kevin De Bruyne

13 points (3 assists, 2 bonus points) – Has now edged ahead of team-mate Sterling to become the second highest scorer in the game. As safe gametime wise as City players get, his steady stream of points keep coming and he’ll be high on the shopping list for City’s double gameweek in GW34.

GW27 Joker – Alfie Mawson

7 points (clean sheet, 1 bonus point) – another clean sheet for the Swans and 3 lovely fixtures before a blank in GW31. A slight doubt for GW28 with a knock.

Gameweek 28 Picks

Banker – Roberto Firmino (LIV £9.2m) – WHA

It’s a Liverpool double up on Bankers for the moment, taking advantage of nice fixtures and a guaranteed GW31 game. The Brazilian is in good form and continues to outperfrom his statistics, ably aided by Salah and Mane. A nice home fixture against inconsistent West Ham this week should provide a good chance of another return.

Ace – Jamie Vardy (LEI £8.6m) – STO

Vardy has been quietly going about his business over the last few weeks and has now scored in his last 4 PL games. Stoke at home starts a great run of fixtures and I’m backing Vardy to continue his solid form against the relegation threatened Potters.

Joker – Matthew Lowton (BUR £4.3) – SOU

Burnley have struggled slightly after their great start to the season but the fixtures ease up a bit now and they still aren’t conceding many goals. This week’s visitors Southampton have been very goal shy this season, so this looks a good fixture for the Clarets to rack up another clean sheet. Lowton comes in at a nice price point, though there’s possibly more security if you step up to a more expensive option such as Mee.

That’s it from me on Player Picks. Good luck this week everyone!
