SOME THOUGHTS ON SALAH AND FIRMINO

SALAH

Here’s Salah’s home games against non top 6 opposition:

Salah has started 9 home against non top 6 opposition games. He’s got a goal or assist in 8 of the 9 games against the non top 6 sides. There have been 5 double figure hauls.

In only 1 game his underlying stats were below a reasonable standard for a striker.

He should have penalty duties

 Salah played no midweek games

Firmino

Here’s Firmino’s home games against non top 6 opposition:

Firmino has started 9 home against non top 6 opposition games. He’s got a goal or assist in 5 of the 9 games against the non top 6 sides. There has been 1 double figure haul.

In 5 games his underlying stats were way below a reasonable standard for a striker.

 Firmino played no midweek games

The Watford away defence

Away Watford are ranked 11th equal in goals conceded with 24. In expected goals away they are far better in 8th.  The new manager joined for GW25.

There have been 3 comparable games away against top 6 sides for Watford

Rd 9 Chelsea 2-4 (xGA 1.78 and 14 shots 6 in the box)

Rd 22 Man City 1-3 (xGA 2.77 and 17 shots 14 in the box)

The stats favour Salah massively

 They are both facing the same defence which isn’t great but not the worst I’ve seen.

THE FFGEEK CHOICE

To me there is no decision to make.  It’s Salah all the way.  Impossible to go against such a highly owned player with who will be captained by so many.  In any case the stats are night with Firmino and day Salah is miles ahead.
