Mane

Liverpool have a game in blank week 33 but no double gameweeks

The Liverpool midfielder has returned to his position as a left sided forward  in a front 3 after a brief flirtation with the CF role.   It’s impressive form with 9 goals and an assist in his last 10 games.

His underlying stats over that period back up his form as well.  Sure to be in the mix for captain favouritism this weekend

Generally pretty good fixtures to come as well

Vardy

Leicester have a game in blank week 33 but no double gameweeks

Anyone who has any semblance of form and who has Huddersfield or Fulham next are always going to draw a crowd and this is the case with Vardy.

5 goals and an assist in the 5 games since Rodgers took over and implemented a more aggressive pressing style has really suited him.  To be fair though the 5 games have seen some mixed stats with pretty ordinary stats away at Watford (despite scoring) and Burnley.

Has penalty duties and good next 3 fixtures

GW33 Huddersfield (A)
GW34 Newcastle (H)
GW35 West Ham (A)
GW36 Arsenal (H)
GW37 Man City (A)
GW38 Chelsea (H)

Bernardo Silva

Manchester City have no game in the blank week GW33 but a double gameweek 35

With no fixture in GW33 there’s either alot of people with not much needed to do with their teams or alot who don’t check the fixture list before they push the transfer button.

Despite producing some pretty impressive underlying stats (he was 12th in the underlying form stats for midfielders before this gameweek) his returns were pretty underwhelming.  In 9 games, including 3 sub appearances, he had produced 1 assist before last weekends 14 point haul.   It seems the law of averages finally caught up with him.

Gametime has been the inhibitor as despite being Pep’s pet that still hasn’t made him immune to the odd rotation related benching.  With De Bruyne fit and City looking to bag the quadruple it doesn’t feel like that’s going to get better

Wilson

Bournemouth have a game in blank week 33 but no double gameweeks

Been back from injury now for 3 gameweeks and it’s been 2 blanks after the 11 point goal and assist in the first game away to Huddersfield.  Although it’s only been 3 shots in those 2 blank games the xG hasn’t been terrible so it’s not a total disaster.

He has been a consistent returner and that’s as much to do with his ability to assist as score goals.  In my form tables of last week only Jimenez, Rashford, Deeney and surprisingly Austin have better xA stats over the last 10 gameweeks.  With 11 goals and 9 assists he looks likely to join Lacazette, Jimenez and Aguero in the “double double” club of 10 goals and 10 assists for the season.

The fixtures to the end of the season are excellent

GW35 Fulham (H)
GW36 Southampton (A)

GW38 Crystal Palace (A)

Fraser

Bournemouth have a game in blank week 33 but no double gameweeks

Wilson’s assist partner has followed a similar pattern to Wilson in the last 3 gamesweeks.  A 13 point goal and assist haul vs Huddersfield followed by 2 blanks, albeit 2 blanks with good key pass and xA stats.

However the cold hard facts are that the 13 point haul mentioned above is his only returning game in the last 11.  Although his xA is very good and his assist stats well publicised, especially as they relate to Wilson, his goal threat is negligible.  He’s only taken more than 2 shots in a game in 3 of his 30 starts.  To make it worse, he’s taken no shots in 11 of those 30 starts.

However the fixtures are good and Wilson is now fit if you believe that will be the catalyst for a return to form.

Aguero

Manchester City have no game in the blank week GW33 but a double gameweek 35

Currently injured and will miss the 2nd GW32 fixture.  Here’s what Pep said:

He didn’t train last two days, tomorrow he is not able.

Maybe (ready for) Saturday (v Brighton in the FA Cup), but we will see in the next days.

So an understandable sale considering he doesn’t have a game anyway in GW33 and most FPL managers I imagine will want to invest those funds and rely on price drops over the week to equalise their sale and buy back price.  I expect Jesus to start in his absence.

Pogba

Manchester United have no game in the blank week GW33 but a double gameweek 35

It’s all gone horribly wrong for Paul Pogba.  It’s just one set of decent underlying stats in his last 7 games including 4 shots only in his last 4 games.  In actual returns it’s 1 assist in his last 6 games.

His most recent games have all been in the midfield 3 position which to be fair has been the huge portion of the season.  However, while his stats in that position over the season have been good it’s just recently they’ve fallen apart.  While his stats as an CAM have been significantly better they are a small portion of the season.

Jimenez

Wolves have no game in the blank week GW33 but a double gameweek 35

As I said above his 2 assists in last nights fixture v Man Utd took him to 12 goals and 10 assists for the season making him only the 3rd forward with Aguero and Lacazette in the “double double” club of 10 goals and 10 assists.  Some achievement in his first year.

Shockingly he has more bonus points than any other FPL player with 30.  That’s 5 more than Hazard, 4 more than Aubameyang and 6 more than Kane.

The key has been his partnership with Diogo Jota with the switch in formation to 3-5-2.  In 11 games since GW22 Jimenez has scored 6 goals and 4 assists taking 16 bonus points along the way.

This is only about the lack of game in GW33.  However considering his price is £6.8m from a starting price of £5.5m I’m surprised more haven’t chosen to bench him for GW33 given the money they could lose on sale vs buy back.

Anderson

West Ham have a game in blank week 33 but no double gameweeks

When a player with a game in a blank week coming up is being sold then you know he’s either injured or his form is an absolute disaster.

Anderson missed the game v Everton on the weekend and this is what Pellegrini had to say:

“Felipe had a pain in his ankle on Friday, the day before the game, and that’s why he couldn’t play. I hope that during the week he will be ready on Tuesday or Wednesday.”

Anderson apparently has posted on Instagram giving the impression that he is fit.

However his injury status is almost a sideline to his current form.  2 assists in his last 12 games isn’t any recommendation to hold on.  This woeful form is backed up by his underlying stats.  In my form tables of last week he was 70th for midfielders in underlying stats in the past 10 gameweeks and 63rd in the previous 5 gameweeks.

The upcoming fixtures don’t help either.  However I wouldn’t be selling him if I was struggling to get a full quota of players for GW33.

Rashford

Manchester United have no game in the blank week GW33 but a double gameweek 35

Rashford missed the GW32 second game v Wolves through injury.  Here’s what Solskjaer said:

“Yeah, he got a knock again, but it’s a different ankle, it’s not the same ankle luckily. He’ll be sorely missed today. Hopefully Rom can do the job though.

“We tried to get him fit,”“but he didn’t make it so, hopefully we can mend him for the next game.”

Again with no game until 34 and little price movement since GW23 it’s an understandable sale
