fantasy premier league GW33 wildcard teams – FFGeek teams update

Fantasy Premier League, ffgeek teams

Here will be the first of many fantasy premier league GW33 wildcard teams articles or at least tweets as I procrastinate about how I want my wildcard teams to look like.   There’s the first 2 goes plus some commentary as to how I got there

If you want more detail on my teams then here’s a link to my early FFGeek team thoughts article

A bit of a structural chat first

As you probably know I don’t really prioritise my team value and that does come home to roost at 2nd wildcard time.  The biggest debate structurally I’ve been having is whether to go 2 £10m + forwards up front or just 1.  I haven’t really looked at the single £10m + option but I know I’m making alot of compromises everywhere else for the 2 premiums upfront.  The 2 premiums is mainly driven by Kane, Aubameyang and Lukaku.  Much as I have serious misgivings about Lukaku I can’t help but think he will be the captain favourite in the double 34.  He’s got 2 excellent fixtures and it’s hard to ignore him.  I think Aubameyang is probably expendable after 33.  That means the big question is can you do without Kane until 36 when you then dump Lukaku.  It’s certainly possible but needs more exploration.  I just hope that I don’t lose too much price change value in doing so.

Chelsea’s loss to Spurs was also significant as it practically seals the top 4 places.  There’s now 8 points between Spurs in 4th and Chelsea in 5th.  Next season’s UCL also means that the top 4 go to the group stages automatically, no play offs.  The 2nd GW34 game is before the FA Cup semis where Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs and Southampton are involved.  That may mean that Man Utd and Spurs are more likely to rest players knowing that a top 4 place is pretty much secure.  Now Mourinho may want to finish 2nd but he also will want a trophy so hard to know how that will go.  Chelsea may just forgo a top 4 place and rest players.  That’s an unavoidable concern.

No article would be complete without my trusty fixture list:

Free Hit lost team

Here’s the team firstly.

For the moment think Lukaku is Kane.  The idea would be to make Lukaku Kane this week and then switch Aubameyang to Lukaku for GW34.  I don’t like the switching around but to me it seems worth it to have Aubameyang for the home game v Southampton instead of Lukaku at Man City.

So the 2 main compromises were Barnes instead of Wood and Christensen instead of Alonso.

Here’s how it plays through to GW37.

(b) = bench

(s)  = single gameweeker

Italics means a transfer in that week

So I get 11 double gameweekers in 34 but only 8 players in 35 with only Barnes as a forward when everyone else will probably have Aubameyang and Jesus via their free hit.  That’s an issue.  37 gives me 13 anticipated DGW37 players plus Salah and Lowton.  Kenedy isn’t ideal as he is ineligible for GW38 v Chelsea but not sure where else to go.

So the basic plan is WC 33,  triple captain 34 (Kane or Lukaku hopefully neither are rested midweek 34 for the FA Cup semi) BB GW37.

The free hit intact team

This is a bit more straight forward subject to the same structural issues.  Here’s I’ve tried to concentrate on 14 double gameweekers plus Salah but my funds are even more stretched here.

Here’s the team.  Same point about Lukaku being Kane due to the price rise tied up in Lukaku.

So again a number of compromises.  I didn’t want double Leicester defence but struggled to afford say Smalling for double United.  I would have preferred Austin over Barnes or even Wood again but funds made that impossible.  Also Lewis Cook was definitely not in my plans.  Again I would have preferred Alonso to Christensen. So now I’m going to think if I should just go 1 premium striker as I mentioned above in the structural introduction.

The free hit means no need to plan through at the moment.

General plan is

WC 33, BB 34, FH 35 and triple captain Kane 37.

That’s it.  If you’re wildcarding hope it’s going well and if you’ve already done it then hope you’re enjoying the relaxation.

If I make any changes I’ll tweet them at least.
