Fantasy Premier League, imaginary wildcard

Here’s our fantasy premier league GW33 wildcard tips article where we pretend we have a wildcard to use. It gives player tips with more longevity than just for the up coming gameweek

So just a reminder that I’m personally not planning on using the 2nd wildcard just yet. For me the plan is to wildcard in DGW36 before the potential DGW37 and then use the bench boost to give a more tangible reward than doing it now. It also minimises the injury risk and selection risk.

The imaginary wildcard team is just inside my £102.5m team value

Also take a look at our recent double gameweek article for a wider context of the fixtures.

There’s no stats in the article but if you want detailed stats on any player here are the links to my player rankings article:

Comments

GK

I’ve gone for Middlesboro GK Valdes as my DGW34 goalkeeper

Pickford is just a cheap save points merchant.

Defence

Chelsea LWB Alonso holds his place after a direct free kick goal in the last gameweek.

After that it’s 2 players for the DGW34 in Bailly after the trials and tribulations of Valencia and his manager saying that “it is not possible at this moment to play every game”  I’ve also picked the attacking full back monster Van Aanholt as a gamble as he’s back in training and will hopefully be fit for the double.  The fixtures are terrible for Palace but he does have big points potential.

Davies and Stones are cheap options for their top 4 defences.  They don’t come without risk.  Davies as Rose is getting positive noises about his return but we’ve heard that for a while.  Stones is just down to general Pep rotation mania.

Midfield

Alli’s hard to ignore at the moment due to form so he’s in the team

Zaha is the form midfield DGW34 player

I’ve gone for 2 Southampton players for DGW36. Ward Prowse is an attacking midfielder with some set piece responsibility who is close to being a price for a bench warmer.  Tadic for me is the best of the Saints midfielders

Lastly there’s Josh King who’s currently in great form and playing striker.  No DGW though

Forwards

3 big hitters here.

Ibrahimovic as the likely captain favourite for DGW34.

Lukaku can’t be ignored on form despite no DGW

Kane has a DGW37 and if you’re ever going to introduce him it’s home to Bournemouth

Double gameweek players

DGW34 – Valdes, Van Aanholt, Bailly, Zaha, Ibrahimovic

DGW36 – Tadic, Ward Prowse

DGW37 – Pickford, Davies, Alonso, Bailly, Stones, Tadic Alli Ward Prowse, Ibrahimovic, Kane

No DGWs – King, Lukaku

Arsenal?

2 consecutive doubles and no Arsenal player?  A couple of weeks ago it would have been unthinkable not to have at least Sanchez.  However 3 blanks and an Arsenal team in a malaise to say the least has questioned his position.  This team allows through the forward line enough time to carry over a transfer to get him back in at the expense of one of the forwards.  Perhaps even with Gabbiadini becoming the forward for DGW36 for Southampton.

As for other’s it’s difficult to justify anyone.  With Koscielny looking like he may return earlier than expected the only defensive value in Gabriel has gone.  Thats even if you believe in their defence.   Walcott may find himself out of the team after being criticsed by the manager for his unacceptable “they wanted it more” comments after the C Palace. Ozil looked too deep and anyone who doesn’t have a shot or create a chance in the previous game is going to be viewed with scepticism.
