Introduction

Firstly if you’re new to the site my last 4 seasons overall ranks are 17k, 36k, 17k and 21k.

GW35 review after Mondays games but before Tuesdays

GW35 points to date 61 (FPL average 47) Total points 2,258, Overall Rank: 17k, red arrow 1k.  Team Value: £103.6m

I’ve now used all my chips

Here’s the points:

Fantasy Premier League GW36 Tips

So after Monday’s games I’m currently 1k down to 17k overall rank. I went into this gameweek with the objective of trying to avoid a red arrow or at least a big one and so far ok.

It’s Greenwood who has saved my gameweek so far with his 10 points. I had quite a bit of buyers regret after getting him as originally I was going to get Calvert Lewin as he had a double and then a game in the blank which is against Sheff Utd. However, at least Greenwood came through for me even though I would have been in a similar position with Calvert Lewin’s 9 points.

Hopefully the gameweek stays with a small red arrow at the worst case. With Watkins red carded and Maguire injured and Son now having played, Shaw is the only player who can realistically significantly hurt my rank. I’m assuming Shaw won’t play tonight v Leicester but will against Liverpool when hopefully Liverpool will at least score to negate clean sheet points. However, Shaw being on the same flank as Alexander Arnold and Salah doesn’t bode well for stopping his attacking ability. Hopefully one of the midfield shuttlers will have had an extra dose of whatever energy supplements they take to keep him in check.

That’s the theory anyway.

Transfer thoughts

1 free transfer and £0.5m in the bank

The plan for GW36 and GW37

I have 9 players with fixtures in blank GW36 so my plan is to use 2 transfers for a -4 point hit to get 11 players with fixtures. How many start those fixtures I’ll come onto later. The hit is really only 2 points effectively assuming the player in scores a minimum 2 points

My transfer plan for GW36 and GW37 has been Greenwood and Iheanacho out in GW36 for Calvert Lewin and a £4.5m midfielder (-4 points to give me 11 players with fixtures) with the exact cash remaining to go Vydra to Antonio in GW37.

That’s at current prices and I’m not doing transfers early so if prices go against me things will get interesting that’s for sure

Why Greenwood and Iheanacho out?

Greenwood and Iheanacho don’t have a fixture in GW36 so they are obvious candidates to go so I can get as close to a full team out as possible. Leicester have Chelsea and Spurs GW37 and GW38 so at least there’s 1 tricky fixture in the last 2 as he goes out the door. Man Utd have Fulham and Wolves so Greenwood going isn’t that helpful but difficult to avoid transferring him out

I have thought about taking Fernandes out as I can see him rested in GW38 with the Europa League on the following Wednesday. That would give me more flexibility with I think he could still be in the mix for the captaincy though against Fulham in GW37 so for the moment I’d rather take Greenwood out and ditch Fernandes in GW38 if it does seem like he will be rested.

Why Calvert Lewin?

The reason I want Calvert Lewin is the Sheff Utd fixture. Sheff Utd seem to have totally gone to pieces. Palace in their 2-0 win had 21 shots against Sheff Utd. Palace have averaged 8 per game in the Premier League this season. Their xG v Sheff Utd was 2.25. Palace’s average xG per game is 0.89. Only once before this season have Palace had an xG over 2 and that was 2.81 vs Fulham in GW31. You get the picture?

Those are scary statistics and I think I might have to get him to avoid a decent rank hit. His 2 fixtures after that are Wolves and lastly Man City which definitely could be better though.

Circling back to GW36 and how many players will start for my FPL team

Of the 9 players who currently have fixtures, Veltman is an injury doubt so that’s 1 potentially down.

Holgate didn’t start v West Ham despite them playing a back 3. Mina started which was a major surprise even allowing for Holgates major mistake vs Villa. That’s 2 doubts

Liverpool seem determined to play only 3 of their 4 attacking players so Jota having seen Firmino rested v Southampton could be in line for the bench in GW36 if he doesn’t take it v Man Utd in the remaining GW35 game. He has been effective off the bench though at least. That’s 3 doubts

Vydra has earned his place via Ashley Barnes’ injury and getting ahead of Jay Rodriguez. Now Barnes only came on for Wood in the 86th minute v Fulham so hopefully he isn’t fit to start in GW36 but with Burnley mathematically safe now it’s not a given. That’s 4 doubts.

If everything goes against me that’s 7 starters only even after the 2 transfers.

The £4.5m mid

Of the £4.5m transfers in the only realistic options are

Norwood at £4.5m, Bissouma £4.4m, Anguissa £4.4m and if I’m feeling really brave and Ings is still injured Tella at £4.3m

So alot to mull over while watching the remaining GW35 games. The above is not a done deal and cogitation could change things.

Lineups

No worries about that this week.

Captain Choice

Realistically the captain choice for most people will be Salah v WBA or Kane v Wolves. Salah looks the natural choice to me

The tricky thing from a putting a poll up point of view is that Liverpool play Man Utd on Thursday night. I may even leave the poll until after that game but I haven’t decided as yet.

Here’s the team lineup before transfers

Assume Greenwood is a £4.5m mid and Iheanacho is Calvert Lewin

Hope your gameweek is going well!
