Here’s the updated version of our regular feature where we analyse the teams of 10 top FPL managers who in the last 3 seasons where none have finished outside the top 10k. We add to the early version the 10 managers gameweek score, overall rank and team value. Plus we add the same stats for the FFGeek team. All the additions are in italics so you can easily spot them. We also try and work out if the focus manager has wildcarded. I thought it maybe useful to do an early version in case you’re thinking of wildcarding. Quite alot of activity. The top 10 Managers have played 30 times in the last 3 years and none have finished outside the top 10k in that time. Considering how variable the last 3 years have been this is remarkable consistency and shows an ability to adapt strategy in different seasons. It also gives you a view other than my own on strategy and player selection.

THE 10 MANAGERS FPL STATS
The stats of the top 10 managers are incredible again this season.
1. The overall average finishing position of the top 10 managers is 2,943
2. The top 10 FPL managers have not been out of the top 10k in the last 3 years (ie 30 times playing)
3. 9 of the 10 have finished in the top 1,000
GAMEWEEK SCORES
It was a tough week for the top 10 managers with a score just above the average and with 8 of the 10 managers having red arrows
The average score of the managers in GW3 was 44 compared to the average of 42. Thats 2 points and 5% above the average. The high score of the 10 was 56. The low score was 37. A big spread of 18 for the score.
The average overall rank of the top 10 FPL managers is 344k a drop from 294k last gameweek. A drop in rank of 50k. The best rank is 30k and the lowest 787k.
The average value is high at £101.2m up markedly from £100.5m. I suspect this is due to mass WC activation although it is difficult to tell this unless you track money in the bank daily.
If you’re interested my score was 42 the same as the gameweek average and the 6th highest of the managers. My overall rank is ahead of all but 2 of the top 10 managers. My team value is low though at £100.7m.

COMPARISON WITH THE TOP 10K
Here’s a comparison with the how the top 10k overall rank average team looks like. The information is provided by the excellent site FPL discovery. Ranks given the early nature of the game are very volatile so don’t read into it too much at the moment.
What it does show is that the top 10 fpl managers I follow main differences with the top 10k rank are:
Amat, Friend, Valencia, Redmond and Gray are more popular with the top 10 FPL managers than the top 10k ranked managers
Coutinho and Negredo are more popular with the top 10k ranked managers

FOCUS ON 1 MANAGERS TEAM

This is the managers team who last year finished the highest of my then top 10 FPL managers. A bit of a slow start but this is similar to last season and he ended up finishing in 1400th position so he wont be panicking. This manager is the closest thing to a fantasy football celebrity there is due to his consistent results so we’ll keep an eye on him. Interestingly though his value looks good. His transfers coming into this gameweek were Kane out – Ibrahimovic in and Andre Gray out Rondon in.
