fantasy premier league GW6 player picks by Rob Reid (the FPL Vet)

Hi and welcome to my fantasy premier league GW6 Player Picks. For each gameweek, I’ll be picking out 3 players in distinct player selection categories.

One Banker – this will take form and the fixture ease schedule into account and is a player who I think is a must for the next few gameweeks and should provide a steady stream of points.

One Ace – a player who I think has a good chance of scoring big this week. I’ll take form, this weeks fixtures and the bookies odds into account here.

One Joker – a player who is a bit of punt but I think may surprise a few people. Might be a low ownership player, someone coming back from injury or just a bit of a gut feeling on my part – there will be no evidence base on this one!

I’ll keep a tally each week of how things are going – I’ll analyse the Banker over 4 GWs, the other 2 will just be on a weekly basis. Wish me luck and here goes!

Gameweek 5 Review

Here’s a link to the article if you’re interested

GW2 Banker- Romelu Lukaku (Man U)

GW2 – 6 points (1 goal)
GW3 – 0 points (1 missed penalty)
GW4 – 6 points (1 goal)
GW5 – 12 points (1 goal, 1 assist, 3 BP) – a great week to finish his banker stint with a double-figure haul. A real ranking buster if you didn’t captain him, a double whammy if you didn’t even own him in the first place. Surely a must-have now with form and massive ownership.

GW3 Banker – Christian Eriksen

GW3 – 3 points (midfield clean sheet)
GW4 – 8 points (1 goal, midfield clean sheet)
GW5 – 3 points (midfield clean sheet) – a disappointing week all round for Spurs as they were blanked out by a stubborn Swansea and some heroics from Fabianski. Poch’s penchant for picking Son pushed the Dane into a worryingly deeper role which will ring alarm bells for future weeks.

GW4 Banker – Craig Dawson

GW4 – 1 point (2 goals conceded)
GW5 – 6 points (1 clean sheet) – a 0-0 snoozefest against West Ham was great news for FPL managers. Trickier fixture away to Arsenal this week to follow on from a tough midweek League Cup battle with Man City.

GW5 Banker – Ben Davies

GW5 – 0 points (didn’t play) – Poch rather annoyingly kept his knock quiet in the presser for the Swansea game, leading to the heavily transferred in Davies staying rooted to the bench against his former employers. Fingers crossed he’ll be fit for a trip across London this week.

Ace – Harry Kane – 2 points. Another no return for the highest priced player in the game left a huge number of managers frustrated. His stats are ridiculous though and he will surely start to cash on these soon.

Joker – Davy Propper – 2 points. A Friday night blank for my GW5 Joker completed a set of blanks for last weeks player picks. Hopefully I can do a bit better in GW6!

Gameweek 6 Picks

Banker – Sead Kolasinac (£6m Ars) – WBA

After a very shaky start, Arsenal have kept consecutive EPL clean sheets including an impressive away performance to Chelsea last Sunday. Their fixtures are now set fair until they meet City in GW11 so if you’re going to bring in a Gunners defensive asset now is a good time. Monreal at £5.4m is the budget option, but Kolasinac gives you a much bigger attacking threat if you can spare the reddies, having already provided 2 assists in 4 EPL starts.

Ace – Sergio Aguero (£11.6m Mci) – CRY

I said pre-season that I couldn’t really understand why we were all overlooking Aguero. (I then of course didn’t back up my statement by picking him! ) 5 goals and 2 assists later and are any of us really that surprised he’s the leading point scorer in FPL? Next up it’s goalless, pointless Palace for a City side who have scored 11 and conceded none in their last 2 league games. Aguero is prime captain material, totally fresh after being rested in midweek and well, put simply he’s Aguero! Need I say more?

Joker – Chris Wood (£6.5m Bur) HUD

The big Kiwi has hit the ground running since his move from Leeds, being a key player in Burnley’s solid start to the season. The Clarets host frugal Huddersfield this week and although I don’t think this will necessarily be a goal-fest but Turf Moor is a good hunting ground for the home team. So I’m backing Wood for a return here and at 2.4% ownership he’s a nice differential.

That’s it from me on Player Picks – best of luck this week everyone.
