Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s our fantasy premier league GW7 forward player rankings article. There’s a range of stats plus commentary on each player and their next 6 fixtures. This will help you choose the best transfer for your team

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW7 FORWARD PLAYER RANKINGS

First it’s important to remember that each player is ranked as a transfer target for this week. So while we generally look at fixtures form and underlying stats a player who’s away to Man City is going to be ranked lower than someone home to Huddersfield for example. If possible a transfer should have a good fixture first up.

Firstly there’s a table of stats. Then there’s a bit of brief commentary on each player.

This is the 3rd player rankings article. I’ve also written a defenders and GKs player rankings article plus a midfielders article

Also see our underlying stats article which gives expected goals information on the players.  Joseph Crilley has also completed gameweek review articles with a load of stats on players performance part 1 and part 2.

THE SCHEDULE

By the way I’ve not included Aguero  as it appears he has been involved in an accident and could be out for a number of weeks with broken ribs

Kane

2 goals against West Ham made it 4 in the last 3 games after starting with a 3 game blank.  The underlying stats have always been there and although he hasn’t had the returns or the underlying stats that Lukaku has his fixtures going forward are better. Also has pens.

Huddersfield (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Liverpool (H)
Man Utd (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Arsenal (A)

Lukaku

The phrase you can only beat what’s in front of you really applies to Lukaku at the moment.  6 goals and an assist with the only non returning game being the penalty miss against Leicester is a phenomenal start to his United career.  The underlying stats mean that this return is no lie.  The negatives are some tricky fixtures round the corner and the perceived risk of the easy start creating uncertainty for when the fixtures become more challenging.  Great fixture next though

Crystal Palace (H)
Liverpool (A)
Huddersfield (A)
Spurs (H)
Chelsea (A)
Newcastle (H)

Jesus

If Aguero is confirmed as out for sometime then Jesus will be the beneficiary as Man City’s only remaining out and out striker.  Could even pick up penalty duties.  Being the only recognised striker could work against him if he continues to be treated with the kid gloves that Pep has been doing so far.  In 5 starts to date he’s averaged 65 minutes but has still managed 4 goals.  These are no fluke as his underlying stats are excellent

Chelsea (A)
Stoke (H)
Burnley (H)
West Brom (A)
Arsenal (H)
Leicester (A)

Lacazette

A real finishers goal against WBA as he found himself in the right place at the right time to put away the free kick by Sanchez that rebounded off the bar.  Underlying stats are ok and 4 goals in 5 starts and 1 sub appearance is a pretty good start to the league.  Great fixture next.

Brighton (H)
Watford (A)
Everton (A)
Swansea (H)
Man City (A)
Spurs (H)

Morata

A hat trick against Stoke has made it 6 goals and 2 assists in his 5 starts and 1 sub appearance.  That’s some start to the league.  His underlying stats could be better to be honest which is the only negative.  The A Madrid game midweek showed that the introduction of Hazard could even improve things further given the positive signs it showed for their relationship.  I suspect Hazard will keep pens. Not a great time to transfer him in but the fixtures vastly improve after GW7

Man City (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Watford (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Man Utd (H)
West Brom (A)

Vardy

Not 100% guaranteed to play as being carrying a hip injury.  However 5 goals in his opening 6 starts is a pretty good start to the season given a reasonably tricky fixture list.  Could have been so much more if not for his penalty miss which must put a question mark over the responsibility for the future.  Good underlying stats too.  Pretty good fixtures on the whole

Bournemouth (A)
West Brom (H)
Swansea (A)
Everton (H)
Stoke (A)
Man City (H)

Chicharito

3 goals in his opening 6 starts isn’t a bad return.  However has had issues over position when been shunted wide.  Bilic has said he wants Carroll and Chicharito to play together but he doesn’t like the defensive knock on affect.  So whether we will see it as a true partnership remains to be seen.  His underlying stats are ok but not great.  This is all about great fixtures and there’s few better entry points than Swansea at home if you’re going to roll the dice

Swansea (H)
Burnley (A)
Brighton (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)
Watford (A)

Okazaki

3 goals and 4 starts is no mean feat for the price.  Also his underlying stats are excellent to back this up.  The question is gametime.  Iheanacho casts a shadow over him although Okazaki presses furiously which is key to the managers game plan.  This may give him an edge.  However minutes on the pitch are also far from ideal.  He’s yet to see the 80th minute in those 4 games.

Bournemouth (A)
West Brom (H)
Swansea (A)
Everton (H)
Stoke (A)
Man City (H)

Firmino

Started the season off fantastically with 2 goals and 2 assists in his first 3 games.  However the Mane sending off has seen him shunted wide and lost his way somewhat with 3 blanks.  The underlying stats aren’t great either but harsh to judge him until Mane is back and he returns to his favoured CF role.  Has penalty duties which is a big plus

 Newcastle (A)
Man Utd (H)
Spurs (A)
Huddersfield (H)
West Ham (A)
Southampton (H)

Rooney

Like Sigurdsson before this is all about fixtures and not form.  2 goals in his opening 2 games followed by 4 blanks culminating in a 54 minute substitution which Koeman revealed was for tactical reasons.  His effective replacement Niasse also scored twice.  Little underlying stats to point him in a positive direction and no certainty he will lead the line.  This is about the fixtures and the hope he can play as a CF and have penaty duties.  If you’re in a gambling mood then home to Burnley is a good time to roll the dice

Burnley (H)
Brighton (A)
Arsenal (H)
Leicester (A)
Watford (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
