Here’s the latest  article reviewing 10 top FPL managers and how they did in FPL gameweek 7.  These aren’t just managers successful now but managers who have been successful for the last 3 years. The 10 managers have never been outside the top 10,000 in the last 3 years. These articles give you another perspective apart from mine. They should also give you confidence if theyre holding or selling a player when you are.

First off all I’ll remind you of the new managers stats. Then we’ll look at team structure and then the transfers made to get an insight into their thinking. There’s also a team at the end  to summarise the position.  The managers continue on their mainly slow start but rest assured these guys have a consistent track record of success and things will improve.  This week the managers have piled into Aguero and dumped the injured Ramsey and suspended Rooney.  They pretty much also own all the players with over 30% ownership.  Here’s the detail:

Top 10 FPL managers stats:

1. Their averaging finishing position over the last 3 years has been 2,353

2. The 10 FPL managers have never been outside the top 10,000 in the last 3 years. Thats 30 times playing

3.  5/10 have finished in the top 1,000 in the last 3 years

4.  4/10 have finished in the top 100 in the last 3 years

GW7 average score and rank

The GW7 average score was 62  against an average of  51 points.  Thats 11 points and 22% higher
The top 10 FPL managers average rank at the moment is still quite low at  241, 268 up from 259,904 last week.  The highest is approximately 1,265 and the lowest £1.6m

The average team value

The average team value is £103.0m up from £102.5m last week

GK/DEFS by player

Clyne, Hutton and Taylor are owned by 5/10 FPL managers

Moore, Chambers, Krul, Chambers and Wisdom are owned by 4/10 of the FPL managers
De Gea, Moreno, Bertrand and Van Aanholt  are owned by 3/10 of the FPL managers

GK/DEFs by team

Southampton  have 8 players in the 10 FPL managers teams
WBA,  Newcastle, have 6 players in the 10 FPL managers teams
Swansea Sunderland, Villa  have 5 players in the 10 FPL managers teams

Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool, Leicester and Arsenal have 4 players in the 10 FPL managers teams

Midfielders

Sigurdsson is in 10/10 FPL managers teams
Fabregas and Di Maria is in 9/10 FPL managers teams
Sterling is in 8/10 FPL managers teams
Tadic is  in 4/10 FPL managers teams

Forwards

Costa is owned by 10/10 FPL managers teams

Welbeck is owned by 8/10 FPL managers

Aguero is owned by 7/10 FPL managers teams

Pelle is owned by 3/10 FPL managers teams

GW7 transfers

The most transferred in players were:

Aguero x 5

Tadic  x 2

The most transferred out were:

Rooney x 6

Ramsey x 3

The most common transfers were:

Rooney to Aguero x 4

Ramsey to Tadic x 2

The average time for transfers was Tuesday the 30th September.  The Rooney suspension and Ramsey injury were the reason for the early transfer

GW7 Captain choice

Costa was captained 6 times

Aguero was captained 4 times

How many took hits?

3/10 of the FPL managers took a 4 point hit.

What was the most popular formation?

3-4-3 was used 9 times
3-5-2 was used once

How many have used their wildcard?

5 of the FPL managers used their wildcard now.

Team source

Pelle, Tadic and Siggy are the only players in the 10 FPL managers teams over £6.0m that are outside the top 4 challenging teams of Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Spurs and Man Utd.

High ownership players

The 6 players over 30% ownership prior to the transfer deadline were approximately:

Costa (66%) owned by 10/10
Sterling (52%) owned by 8/10
Fabregas(43%) owned by 9/10
Siggy (43%) owned by 10/10
Di Maria (34%) owned by 9/10

The average team owns 4.6 of the 5 players above.  8/10 of the FPL teams own 5/5.  1 team has 4/5.  1 team has 2.  That team with 2/5 is ranked 1.6m

Team structure

GKs

4/10 FPL managers played elite keepers.

4/10 FPL managers played cheapies with back up from the same team

2/10 FPL managers played rotating cheapies

In defence

2/10 FPL managers had 0 defenders from the top 7 teams as I define them

3/10 FPL managers had 1 defender from the top 7 teams

4/10 FPL managers had 2 defenders from the top 7 teams

1/10 FPL managers had 3 defenders from the top 7 teams

In midfield

Whether they played 5 or 4 midfielders they all played proper midfielders with a cheap reserve.  No one played cheap rotating midfielders.

The forwards

3 teams only had 1 forward over £10m.  2 of those had 2 mid priced forwards as well.  eg Pelle or Welbeck.  1 had 1 mid priced 1 cheap

7 teams had 2 forwards over £10m.  6 had a mid priced forward as a 3rd.  1 had a cheap forward such as Naismith
