fantasy premier league – my imaginary wildcard team for GW25

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my fantasy premier league imaginary wildcard team for gameweek 25. Its a team for the future as if I was using my wildcard, not just GW25.

fantasy premier league – my imaginary wildcard team for GW25

I’ve dovetailed it in with my “ones to watch” articles so you can see the stats while viewing the team. Obviously when doing a wildcard team you can take a few more chances and in order to make the numbers up you add in players that you may have classified as hold in case you were wondering.  Some of the numbers are my sell values by the way not the buy prices.  The value is around £108.0m which is probably slightly more than average.  Ive got players who have blank gameweeks in GW28 so enough time to remove them.  I’ve gone for a team which would be played as 3-4-3 with a rotating 4th midfielder

Here’s the team:

gw25imagWC

Boruc/Davis (£4.7m/£4.9m)

I’ve gone for the allround Southampton GK option as being good value.

4th best home defence.  5th best away defence.   27 goals conceded and 9 clean sheets.  How many times  do they feature in the top 10 fantasy premier league managers teams:  10

Only 3 clean sheets in the last 13.  2 in the last 5 shows that maybe they are turning a defensive corner despite losing Lovren.  The early season form where they had 6 clean sheets in 9 helps the rating.  It still takes a leap of faith to think they can get back to that without Lovren.   That’s why they are a worthwhile but only really as a budget option.

Coleman (£6.5m)

9th best home defence.  2nd best away defence.   25 goals conceded and 9 clean sheets.  How many times  do they feature in the top 10 fantasy premier league managers teams:  9

Form’s not great with 1 clean sheet in the last 10.  1 clean sheet in the last 5

Coleman  is the best option at £6.5m and is back for GW25.     He has excellent attacking form having scored 5 goals and an assist to date.

Some tough fixtures and 3 clean sheets tops in the next 6

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Tottenham (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Chelsea (A)
West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)
Cardiff City (H)

Koscielny (£5.7m)

2nd best home defence. 4th best away defence.   21 goals conceded and 11 clean sheets.  How many times  do they feature in the top 10 fantasy premier league managers teams:  10

Since the hammering at City its been 5 clean sheets out of 8.  It’s 3 clean sheets in the last 5

Koscielny at £5.7m now becomes my top choice.     Since coming back into the side in 5 games he’s got 8 bonus points.  His attacking potential is limited but while he’s racking up these bonuses and is cheaper than Mertesacker at £6.6m.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Liverpool (A)
Man Utd (H)
Sunderland (H)
Stoke City (A)
Swansea (H)
Tottenham (A)

Azpilicueta (£5.4m)

Taken the budget Chelsea option to save money.  No attacking returns and 2 bonus points all season it’s just a clean sheet only budget option.

6th best home defence. 1st best away defence.   20 goals conceded and 10 clean sheets.   How many times  do they feature in the top 10 fantasy premier league managers teams:  3

The form defence with 6 clean sheets in the last 8.  Also 4 clean sheets in the last 5 including incredibly a clean sheet at City.  The purchase of CDM Matic already looks a strong contribution to the defence.

Potential for 4 clean sheets in the next 6

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Newcastle (H)
West Brom (A)
Everton (H)
Fulham (A)
Tottenham (H)
Aston Villa (A)

Bardsley (£4.5m)

18th ranked home defence.  19 goals conceded and 3 clean sheets at home in 12 home games.  How many times  do they feature in the top 10 fantasy premier league managers teams: 4

Poyet is an excellent defensive coach .  Its 3 clean sheets in 8 games at home since he took over which isn’t remarkable but the fixtures again look good for home rotation.  Bardsley is definitely my best choice at £4.5m for his attacking potential with 2 goals and an assist plus 7 bonus points in the 17 games he’s played.

Next 6 home fantasy premier league fixtures:

Hull City (H)
West Brom (H)
Man Utd (H)
Southampton (H)
Chelsea (H)
Aston Villa (H)

Chico (£4.9m)

17th ranked home defence.  20 goals conceded and 4 clean sheets at home in 12 games.  How many times  do they feature in the top 10 fantasy premier league managers teams:  0

1 clean sheet in their last 5 home games.   It’s all about fixtures.  Interestingly Laudrup being sacked and CB Monk the caretaker manager maybe will improve the defence.  Whatever the case its all about fixtures.  Unfortunately they’re not cheap.  Chico at £4.9m looks the best bet.  In recent weeks he’s looked a threat at set pieces and  with 9 bonus points isn’t far off Williams of 11 but with much more attacking potential.

Could conceivably be 5 clean sheets in the 6 games.

 Hazard (£10.6m)

  • Goals and assists:  9 goals 8 assists.  Time per point scored:   14.3  mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 5th.  Consistency 11/24   46%  Last 5 return consistency:  2/5   How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow:  10

No returns in the last 3 but still playing well and the underlying shooting stats have held up which shows that nothing fundamentally seems to be going wrong.  Good fixtures though and should still continue to prosper.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Newcastle (H)
West Brom (A)
Everton (H)
Fulham (A)
Tottenham (H)
Aston Villa (A)

Zaha (£5.4m)

The man who literally got Crystal Palace promoted single handedly given his performances in the play off semis and final.  A quality player with real skill.  8 goals and 11 assists in 46 Championship games doesn’t really do his ability justice.   His first appearance for   Cardiff saw him deliver an assist.  Difficult to see that he won’t play.  Fixtures couldn’t be better

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Swansea (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Hull City (H)
Tottenham (A)
Fulham (H)
Everton (A)

 Lallana (£7.8m)

  • Goals and assists:  7 goals 6 assists.  Time per point scored:  15.5  mins .  Rotation risk: low   fixture ease ranking: 11th.  Consistency 11/24  46%          Last 5 consistency return rate:  3/5   How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow: 6

2 double figure fantasy premier league point hauls in the last 2 games.  Now the 3rd top fantasy premier league point scoring midfielder.   A player who plays centrally and in an advanced position and is the attacking fulcrum of the Southampton side.  A perfect recipe for a fantasy premier league midfielder.  Excellent time per point scored return for the price as well.     Nothing much in the way of underlying stats but the returns keep coming.

Stoke City (H)
Hull City (A)
West Ham (A)
Liverpool (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Norwich (H)

Puncheon (£5.0m)

Seems to be a fixture in the side now although new signings still attach some gametime risk.     Was taking pens although a miss at Spurs may have changed that.    Very good shooting stats and a very forward thinking player.  3 goals in his last 5 games and 3 returning matches in that period.  A good time to buy home to WBA next

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

West Brom (H)
Everton (A)
Man Utd (H)

Silva (£9.3m)

  • Goals and assists:  4 goals 8 assists.  Time per point scored:   14.6  mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 12th.  Consistency 10/15   67%  Last 5 return consistency:  2/5   How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow:  5

Very unlucky in the Chelsea match.  Didn’t really create as much as usual but had a few good scoring chances.  Some good fixtures coming up and easily has the best underlying shooting and creating chances stats of any midfielder

Dzeko (£7.1m)

  • Goals and assists:  7 goals 4 assists.  Time per point scored:  13.5 mins mins .  Rotation risk: high.   fixture ease ranking: 12th.  Consistency  8/18  44%          Last 5 return rate:  3/5    How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow: 2

Incredible returns given his value.  Consistency is low but if you only include games he started then its 7/11 or 64%.  Game time given the next fixtures being so good is the only risk.  However he has played 90 minutes in 5 of the last 6 games.  With Aguero injured, doubts over Negredo’s fitness and Jovetic only 2 games into his season then you’ve got to think he has a good chance of consistent starts in the short term.  Fantastic shooting stats although has well documented conversion issues.

RVP (£13.6m)

  • Goals and assists:  9 goals 2 assists.  Time per point scored:  12.9 mins mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 19th.  Consistency  8/13  62%          Last 5 return rate:  4/5    How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow: 1

Home to Fulham is enough to attract anyone let alone someone who’s scored 56 goals and 28 assists in the last 2 seasons.  Despite a so called disastrous season his Fantasy premier league  time per point scored of  12.9 is very respectable.  As is his consistency and lets not forget he’s returned in 4 of his last 5 games.  There’s only 2 issues.  1 the price and 2 will he play.  I’d like to think given the precarious position United are in and the rather lack lusture performance at home to Cardiff who’s defence is nearly as bad that he will.  With Moyes though who knows

Suarez (£13.4m)

Goals and assists: 22 goals and 15 assists:     Time per point scored:  8.7  mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 14th.  Consistency 16/19    84%               Last 5 return consistency rate:  5/5    How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow:  10

Slowed down a little compared to the lightning paced returns of before but still a must have player.  Will be an interesting test against the Arsenal defence.
