Here’s an imaginary fantasy premier league team solely picked for GW11, No other fixtures taken into account, just gameweek 11.
Its also purely theoretical and costs too much to be a real team. The reasoning? Just to help you pick a player if you’re a little unsure who to pick. The chance of immediate points with someone from this team may sway you. Please excuse the fact that I’m only doing the briefest of comments. Some of the players are covered in previous articles this week in my fantasy premier league “ones to watch” articles and defenders in my clean sheet article. By the way I wont pick 2 strikers or 2 midfielders or 2 defenders from the same club. Ill also pick the defender with the best chance of the bonus or attacking points irrespective of the price although in the commentary I may give a steer on the value option. So don’t be confused about me selecting someone different from the “ones to watch” articles as that takes a longer term and more value view than this. I’ll put links to my “ones to watch” articles for more information
- Mignolet
- £5.6
- Surely he’s got to keep a clean sheet against Fulham
- Tremmel
- £4.4
- Value option taking the place of Vorm who’s suspended for 1 game
- Ivanovic
- £6.5
- Should play and still a good scoring chance. Terry is the better bet for goals and bonus but does have a rotation threat over him although he has started every fantasy premier league game. Cole long term I think will play the most games
- Vertonghen
- £7.2
- The best attacking returns option in the Spurs team in my view but substantially the most expensive. Walker is the secure mid price option and Dawson the budget option although he does have some gametime issues potentially when rose comes back and either him or Chiriches will be dropped
- Lovren
- £5.8
- Best bonus and attacking option in the all conquering Saints defence. Fonte is the slghtly cheaper option but still with a set piece attacking threat. Clyne the bdget option
- Baines
- £7.7
- In a game against Palace, you’re going to want Baines in your team. Vulnerable to set pieces and with little attacking edge there’s a great chance for attacking returns and the clean sheet double. Jagielka is the bonus darling mid price option. Distin the budget option who’s yet to have any gametime threat from injured Wigan old boy Alacaraz
- Williams £4.8m (Swansea)
- Home to the lowest scoring team in the league, Stoke, is always an opportunity for a clean sheet and Williams the most likely to be the beneficiary of the resulting bonus
- Oscar
- £9.1
- I’d go with Hazard long term but as this is only a team for GW11 the whole Eurostar fiasco Hazard has got himself into may lead him to the bench so I’ve gone with Oscar as the likely number 10. I did think about Schurrle who will probably face Steven Reid in his first premier league game for sometime but I’ve stuck with position
- Mirallas
- £7.2
- You can see I don’t have much faith in Palace? Mirralas in the Everton midfield looks the most likely beneficiary of any goals or assists so despite often being disappointed I’ve gone for him due to his advanced position
- Townsend
- £6.0
- I was struggling for options a little so I’ve taken a punt on Townsend against the leaky Newcastle defence and against a good attacking FBs but not so good when turned around.
- Nasri
- £8.0
- Will be the main creative force with Silva out and up against one of the worst defences in the league. Poyets influence is the only shadow but Man City are on too much of an attacking roll to be ignore at the moment
- Lallana
- £6.6
- Its a sign of the difficult midfield options that I’ve chosen Lallana who is pretty hit and miss but defeinitely has the potential to score
- Suárez
- £11.7
- Home to Fulham. Need I say any more
- Lukaku
- £8.1
- Had 1 quiet game against the leagues best defence but other than that has been in great form a dn comes up against one of the worst defences in the league
- Agüero
- £11.6
- The man of the moment and it doesn’t matter who the opposition is but on this occasion its one of the worst in the league
As this is only a team for GW11 the emphasis has been on fixtures rather than form which is why I’ve by bypassed the Man Utd v Arsenal game and not included Ramsey, Ozil, RVP or Rooney. It most definitely could be a 3-3 shootout or it could be more cagey. Even if you don’t agree then hopefully you will accept the rationale.
