fantasy premier league – my imaginary wildcard team for GW10

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my fantasy premier league imaginary wildcard team for gameweek 10. Its a team for the future as if I was using my wildcard, not just GW10

I’ve dovetailed it in with my “ones to watch” articles so you can see the stats while viewing the team. Obviously when doing a wildcard team you can take a few more chances and in order to make the numbers up you add in players that you may have classified as hold in case you were wondering.
I’ve gone for a fairly well balanced team with players who can score goals to take advantage of the bonus system.  Some of the prices are my teams prices so are lower than the buy cost by the way

Anyway here’s the team:

Liverpool

Mignolet
£5.6
  • Minutes per point:  18.4    Team clean sheets:  3    Team defence ranking:  8  fixture ease rank:  1

I’ve held him as despite the stats and the fact that now its now incredibly 6 games without a clean sheet Mignolet is still a reasonable choice with Toure not absolutely sure of a place and Johnson a similar price  Its hold for fixtures only at the moment though

Next 6 fixtures:  Arsenal (A)   Fulham (H)   Everton (A)   Hull City (A)   Norwich (H)   West Ham (H)

Hull City

Cole
£6.3
  • Minutes per point:  20.05 mins .  Team clean sheets:  3    Team defence ranking:  3  Rotation risk: medium   fixture ease ranking: 10   Bonus points to date 6
I put Ivanovic in my best defenders article but on reflection I think Cole is the preferred option.  Security of gametime is one of the deciding factors in the Chelsea defence. Cole seems the most secure for the premier league games now he’s back although Ivanovic and Terry seem first choice with varying degrees of rotation.    Cole has a good bonus record but has had no attacking returns to date.  Terry is the current season goal and bonus magnet so go for Terry if you think you can handle the gametime rotation risk.    Only 3 clean sheets but the overall stats are excellent and more will come

Newcastle (A)   West Brom (H)   West Ham (A)   Southampton (H)   Sunderland (A)   Stoke City (A)

West Ham

Rat
£4.5
I’ve gone for Rat as my West Ham coverage at £4.5m.  He’s started the last 5 and is part of the West Ham defence that has got 5 clean sheets.  I’ve ranked West Ham  the 4th best defence in the league.  I’ve chosen Rat over Reid for budget reasons
Tottenham

Dawson
£5.1
  •  Minutes per point:  18.4  Team clean sheets: 6    Team defence ranking:  1  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 14th     Bonus points to date 6

4 bonus points in the last 2 games and defence goes from strength strength.  No final clarity over Dawson vs Chiriches at the weekend for my number 1 ranked defence.  There wont be until Rose returns.  Still no reason to sell even with the fixtures getting trickier especially the  next one away to Everton.  Go for Walker if you have the cash and are spooked over Dawsons gametime security with the Chiriches shadow.  This, if I didn’t own Dawson is where I would be at the moment although I’ve stuck with dawson here for budgetary reasons

Next 6 fixtures:  Everton (A)   Newcastle (H)  Man City (A)   Man Utd (H)   Fulham (A)   Sunderland (A)

Southampton

Clyne
£4.5
  • Minutes per point:  16.4 mins .  Team clean sheets:  5    Team defence ranking:  3  Rotation risk: low   fixture ease ranking: 18   Bonus points to date 4

Incredibly 6 clean sheets so far and  everyone by now surely believe that the Southampton defence is the real deal.  Personally due to budget restrictions I’ve gone for the cheaper version of Clyne who will probably give less attacking returns and bonus points than the expensive options of Lovren orFonte.  3 tricky fixtures in the next 6 will give a real indication of where they are though

Next 6 fixtures:   Stoke City (A)   Hull City (H)   Arsenal (A)   Chelsea (A)   Aston Villa (H)   Man City (H)

West Brom

Ridgewell
£5.0
  • Minutes per point:  21.3  Team clean sheets:  3    Team defence ranking:  5 Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 7th     Bonus points to date 6

With Crystal Palace next it seems a good time with a reasonable run of fixtures and ok stats to give the WBA defence a run.  In retrospect I’ve chosen Ridgewell as a better bet than McAuley due to the attacking returns being the same but  bonus points superior

Next 6 fixtures:  Crystal Palace (H)   Chelsea (A)   Aston Villa (H)   Newcastle (A)   Man City (H)   Norwich (H)

Swansea

Michu
£8.9
  • Goals and assists:  2 goal 1 assist.  Time per point scored:  21.9 mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 6th.  Consistency 3/9    33%

Another good fixture, another worryingly quiet performance from Michu in terms of returns and underlying stats.  Still the fixtures are fantastic so there  is reason to hold.  Not returned in 4 now and its definitely not comfortable and its a fixture hold only at the moment.

Next 6 fixtures:  Cardiff City (A)   Stoke City (H)   Fulham (A)   Man City (A)   Newcastle (H)   Hull City (H)

Januzaj
£4.8
On the subs bench so just a watchout for future gametime.  However against Fulham is a good time to gamble and has significant upside if it does go right
Arsenal

Ramsey
£6.7
  • Goals and assists:  5 goals 4 assists.  Time per point scored:    11.6 mins .  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 16th.  Consistency 6/9   67%

Another game another assist.  Its an incredible 6 returns from 9 games.  His role does seem to be a little unclear especially when all the injuries clear up but just keeps shrugging all this off and continues scoring and assisting.  If ever there was a time to pause it was now though with 3 tricky games next   I’m holding now but if you own Ozil, Giroud and Ramsey then you have  to sell at least 1.  To me it wouldn’t be Ramsey.

Next 6 fixtures:   Liverpool (H)   Man Utd (A)   Southampton (H)   Cardiff City (A)   Hull City (H)   Everton (H)

West Brom

Amalfitano
£5.2 (injury doubt)
This is on the basis that there is some positive news on his injury in the next day or so. 2 goals and 2 assists in the last 6 games is pretty impressive and home to palace has to be a good time to buy.  R Morrison of West Ham was my alternate
Chelsea

Hazard
£9.1
  • Goals and assists:  3 goals 2 assists.  Time per point scored:   15.6  mins .  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 10th.  Consistency 3/9   33%

A really frustrating individual who has a 33% consistency rate and apart from the goal at Norwich everything has been at home.   Only 2 games at home in the next 6 and one against Southampton which wont be easy  Has got good underlying shooting and creating chances stats which gives some hope he can get back to last year but it is a leap of faith

Next 6 fixtures:  Newcastle (A)   West Brom (H)   West Ham (A)   Southampton (H)   Sunderland (A)   Stoke City (A)

Arsenal

Giroud
£9.2
  • Goals and assists least year:  5 goals 4 assists.  Time per point scored:  13.10 mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 11th.  Consistency 7/9   78%

Really consistent returns from a player who has such a good all round game he can be relied on for assists if ever the goal chances don’t come his way.  No rotation possibilities either.  Probably only Suarez and Aguero  have better underlying stats.  A couple of tricky fixtures next is only shadow.

Next 6 fixtures:  Liverpool (H)   Man Utd (A)   Southampton (H)   Cardiff City (A)   Hull City (H)   Everton (H)

Man City

Agüero
£11.4
  • Goals and assists:  7 goals 4 assists.  Time per point scored: 9.1  mins .  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 13th.  Consistency     6/8  75%
I’ve chosen Aguero as my City coverage instead of Silva as I didn’t want to double up on them.  World class quality striker who scores home or away irrespective of the opposition.  Great underlying  stats in shooting and creating chances.  The shadow is rotation with the Champions league in full swing.  Can you really give him the armband not knowing whether he will start (even if he is good off the bench). Good alternative captain planning is essential if you have him in your team.  Should play against Norwich having been left out in the Capital One and the way they played in spells against Arsenal but with Champions league midweek cant be guaranteed.

Next 6 fixtures:  Norwich (H)   Sunderland (A)   Tottenham (H)   Swansea (H)   West Brom (A)   Southampton (A)

Suárez
£11.6
Goals and assists: 6 goals and 2 assists:     Time per point scored:  7.8  mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 1st.  Consistency 4/4    100%

Fantastic hat trick last week from the striker who has it all. 100% returns, fantastic  underlying shooting and creating chances stats to back it up.  Great fixtures coming up after the Arsenal game

Next 6 fixtures:  Arsenal (A)   Fulham (H)   Everton (A)   Hull City (A)   Norwich (H)   West Ham (H)
