fantasy premier league – my imaginary wildcard team for GW9

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my fantasy premier league imaginary wildcard team for gameweek 9. Its a team for the future as if I was using my wildcard, not just GW9

I’ve dovetailed it in with my “ones to watch” articles so you can see the stats while viewing the team. Obviously when doing a wildcard team you can take a few more chances and in order to make the numbers up you add in players that you may have classified as hold in case you were wondering.
I’ve gone for a fairly well balanced team with players who can score goals to take advantage of the bonus system.  Some of the prices are my teams prices so are lower than the buy cost by the way

Mignolet

£5.6

  • Minutes per point:  16.7    Team clean sheets:  3    Team defence ranking:  6  fixture ease rank:  2

5 games in a row with no clean sheet.  Goal keeping options are difficult though as its hard to find value compared to their teams other defensive options.  Mignolet is still a hold for me though while Liverpool continue to have good fixtures.

Ivanovic

  • Minutes per point:  21.8 mins .  Team clean sheets:  3    Team defence ranking:  2  Rotation risk: medium   fixture ease ranking: 7   Bonus points to date 2

Its all about security of gametime in the Chelsea defence.  Ivanovic with Cole injured seems the most secure to me with Azpilicueta not favoured. Mourinho has said that Luiz and Terry are his first choice but I find it difficult to believe that such a positionally undisciplined error prone player as Luiz really is. Terry also, despite starting every game in fantasy premier league so far, has to have some rotation with the Champions League in full swing.  However Terry is the goal (although Ivanovic has a good history of scoring) and bonus magnet so go for Terry if you think you can handle the gametime rotation risk.  I’ve put him as hold although I think they are a Buy after the City game.  Only 3 clean sheets but the overall stats are excellent and more will come

Kompany
£6.3 (injury doubt expected back for GW9)
  • Minutes per point:  31.6 mins .  Team clean sheets:  3    Team defence ranking:  5   Rotation risk: low  fixture ease ranking: 17     Bonus points to date 0

Apparently back for GW9 but even if its GW10 he  only misses the Chelsea game.  If he can stay fit he’s the most  secure gametime wise as everyone else can be rotated as Zabaleta’s owners found out.  Nastasic at £5.5m would be my alternative acquisition although everyone has rotation potential and Demichels will soon be fit to cause him problems.  With Kompany they are one of the best defences in the league.  Definitely worth buying for the Norwich home game though.

Dawson

  • Minutes per point:  21.7   Team clean sheets: 4    Team defence ranking:  1  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 16th     Bonus points to date 2

Spurs were back to their clean sheet ways against Villa although the underlying stats could have been better.  Hopefully the clean sheet will keep Dawson in play although there is still a gametime test when Roses returns which could be this week.  Chiriches played his first game and either he or Dawson will be moved if Rose returns as I’m sure Vertonghen will hold his place. I’m still banking on Dawson staying as captain as the person involved in the clean sheets to date.  If Chiriches started  in the Europa league and Dawson didn’t this week which will help the case for Dawson staying for GW9.  Coverage of the Spurs defence is essential in my mind as the best defence in the league fixtures or not.  Go for Walker if you have the cash and are spooked over Dawsons gametime security with the Chiriches shadow

  • Minutes per point:  16.4 mins .  Team clean sheets:  5    Team defence ranking:  3  Rotation risk: low   fixture ease ranking: 4   Bonus points to date 4

Hopefully 5 clean sheets will convince everyone by now that the Southampton defence is a must have  and its just a matter whether you go for the cheap version of Clyne who will probably give less attacking returns and bonus points or you spend the extra million or so on Lovren and Fonte who will get more attacking returns and bonus points.  I’ve gone for Clyne due to budgetary restrictions

  • Goals and assists:  2 goal 1 assist.  Time per point scored:  21.2 mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 3rd.  Consistency 3/8    38%

For Swansea to get 4 goals and for Michu to not return was truly shocking and its now 3 games in a row with no returns.  Unfortunately it wasn’t bad luck as he was very quiet.  However he has historically shown the ability to score against the lower teams and his fixtures are now very juicy.  Plus his underlying shooting stats are as good as anyone.  I’m still showing faith

Ramsey
£6.7
  • Goals and assists:  5 goals 3 assists.  Time per point scored:    11.2 mins .  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 11th.  Consistency 4/7   62.5%

1 good fixture to come at Palace before 3 tricky ones for the box to box sensation.  Having never scored more than 3 fantasy premier league goals in a season he’s already scored 5 in 8 games. Having never got more than 6 assists he’s already got 3. The goals are on the back of ok shooting stats but certainly not enough to justify 5 and he’s not even registering on the creating chances schedule. However, sometimes you’ve just got to go with the form and Ramsey certainly has that. My feeling is that he wont continually be able to buck the underlying stats but for the moment, especially with Palace next, he’s a buy. If you haven’t got him definitely do it this week though, don’t leave it another.

Back with 3 goals and an assist in his last 2 games.  Definitely not the most consistent though and a  real home ground bully against poorer teams. Has got reasonable underlying stats shooting and creating chances wise but up to 2 gameweeks ago wasn’t showing any output. Its now 3 goals and 2 assists from 8 games which is certainly respectable. better fixtures too. I would probably leave buying until after the City game but he is now a buy option for me even if the home games are trickier than the away games

fantastic consistency of returns and has the best underlying stats of any forward.  Palace at home next.  The only thing not making him a must have is the other arsenal alternatives for coverage.
