Here’s the first part of the fantasy premier league analysis of Saturdays matches for game week 17 including Newcastle v Man City, Stoke v Everton and QPR v Fulham
Newcastle 1 Man City 3
A dominant start with goals from Aguero and Garcia put City 2 clear before a revival started by a goal from Ba gave a glimmer of hope to Newcastle until Cisse missed a great chance which was followed by YYT putting the game beyond doubt.
defensive stats
Reasonable defensive stats from City but abysmal stats from Newcastle
player shooting stats
Ba, Tevez and Aguero led the way.
Pen Box touches were Ba, Aguero, Williamson, Silva, Tevez and Zabaleta
Chances created
Silva by an absolute mile. Followed by Zabaleta, Collocinni and Tiote
Most forward midfielders
Anita and Nasri

Ba – scored and again put up shot stats which show that no matter what the opposition is he can produce. After QPR this week Newcastle are about to go through a terrible series of fixtures so given other alternatives he may be a valid sale but he’s currently making the decision very difficult
Hart – the defence will be weakened by the loss of Kompany and this performance was a little down on the usual stats. At the moment until Kompany returns Nastasic offers a cheaper way in.
Tevez – posted good stats and was very unlucky not to return. Fantasy premier league owners should keep the faith especially with fixtures improving
Stoke 1 Everton 1
A game Everton really should have won after Osman missed a sitter which would have put them 2 up after an Shawcross own goal assisted by Pienaar put them 1 up. Stoke forced their way back in to the game and Jones eventually equalised. The game was most notable for the Fellaini headbutt on Shawcross which unfortunately will lead to a significant ban.
defensive stats
Strong defensive stats from Everton. Not so good from Stoke.
player shooting stats
Only Jones and possibly Jelavic warrant a mention
Pen Box touches were led massively by Jones. 3 times the next group of Pienaar, Nzonzi, Fellaini and Walters
Chances created
Baines as ususal
Most forward midfielders
Adam and Walters. Fellaini and Pienaar for Everton

Begovic and Shawcross – The Stoke defence is the one of the best in fantasy premier league, not just outside the elite now and although today wasn’t the best stats, Everton are one of the best attacking teams in the league so there was no shame in conceding 1. In my view every fantasy premier league team should have 1 Stoke defender or the GK.
Baines – Again great chances created stats with no return. Personally, I wouldn’t buy him as the foundation of clean sheets isn’t there and the defensive stats don’t warrant the price. Unlike G Johnson who has great shooting stats, Baines is a crosser of the ball which is a rather tenuous link to assists. He does have pens and free kicks but this just isn’t enough for me to justify £7.5m
Fellaini – The top midfielder for shooting stats overall had his 2nd quiet game in a row and didn’t even register a shot on goal. A decent ban is looming after his head butt in any case and depending on your sale and buy back price if you’re value concious it will be worth selling now.
QPR 2 Fulham 1
QPR win after a monumental effort from Adel Taarabt which saw 2 goals and an abysmal defensive effort from Fulham. Fulham rallied late on with a goal from Petric but its too little too late.
defensive stats
Fulhams stats were poor. QPRs again were fantastic
player shooting stats
It was a 1 man shooting stat performance by Cisse. Taarabt had nearly the same amount of shots but none were inside the box. Today was the law of averages catchig up with him. Mackie was probablynext in line
Pen Box touches were Cisse, Mackie and Hangeland
Chances created
Faurlin then Cisse
Most forward midfielders
Taarabt and Duff

Riise – the Fulham defence isn’t a defence that warrants anything like the £5.7m he costs. This is more than say Gibbs and Nastasic. What’s more he’s only returned once in the last 9 games and anyone who owns him should sell.
Berba – statistically did absolutely nothing in this game after last week looking like he might not be affected by his position behind Rodallega. Desperately misses his partner in crime Ruiz who is the chance creator of the team. Its now 6 consecutive games with no returns
