Important note before going further

I’ve now changed the focus to the last 10 gameweeks rather than the season

The first schedule ranks players by their underlying stats expected goal and assists converted to FPL points in the last 10 gameweeks . Those who are expected to be the penalty taker have an * next to their name. They are analysed on xG the rest on non penalty xG. This is different than previously.

The F Ease is the fixture ease ranking.

The value for money VFM ratio is the total expected points from their underlying stats divided by their price

The 2nd schedule shows their xG90 (expected goals) and xA90 (expected assists) plus their shots per 90 and key passes per 90.

There’s no anytime goalscorer odds as they aren’t available for all games.

I’ve already posted the defender rankings

Player values and PPMs are as of Thursday 15 April

The schedule ranked by Midfielders underlying stats over the last 10 Gameweeks

Here is the link to the google spreadsheet. You can go to file>make a copy and then sort it how you like. 200 mins needed to qualify. Underlying Stats are from the free site understat.com

A few comments

Man City players

I’ve kept the Mn City players in despite the rotation risk at the moment because basically I would have had to remove them all otherwise. You can see their average minutes but just remember that doesn’t reflect no shows.

Given Man City’s pursuit of the quadruple, plus the fact the league is virtually won the rotation isn’t going to get any better

Sterling

There’s absolutely no doubt his underlying stats are excellent.

There are 2 problems though. Of the last 7 he’s started 3 games. No showed 3 times and played 27 minutes as sub in 1 game. He’s returned 1 assist over those 7 opportunities to start.

He’s also a pretty inconsistent underperformer of those underlying stats historically albeit not by a huge amount.

As I said above, given Man City’s pursuit of the quadruple and the lack of gametime his ranking is almost theoretical

Fernandes

Would be ranked 13th if it wasn’t for penalties

1 goal and 1 assist in his last 6 games. The goal was the penalty v Man City

He’s either in your team because of his high ownership or you must believe the penalty well still has alot to give

Jota

The curious case of Diogo Jota

His stats didn’t make the table mainly due to his average gametime of 63 minutes. If the average was 90 then he would have been 16th and would be value for money but realistically that’s never going to be the average. He didn’t start v Madrid and Klopp, since Jota’s been fit, hasn’t started the 4 attacking players.

So is he a gametime risk and does it matter? He has scored or assisted in 3 of the 6 times he’s come on as sub but it doesn’t scream as being sustainable.

He has scored 3 goals in the 5 games (3 starts plus 2 as sub) since coming back from injury

Finally his 5.1 PPM is down to a massive over performance of his underlying stats in contrast to last season with Wolves when he massively underperformed.

It’s all very difficult to figure out. What we do know is he’s cheap for a Liverpool attacker and the fixtures are amazing

Son

The big attraction is his double gameweek 32 and he’s impossible to ignore for that.

His underlying stats over the last 10 are nothing flash for the price that’s for sure although they have improved the last few games and he is much more effective if he’s positioned as Kane’s quasi strike partner rather than out wider.

Have him for DGW32 and then review going into his blank GW33 is my view at the moment

Havertz and Pulisic

Both have produced very good stats on limited minutes recently but both are subject to rotation although Havertz as a false 9 seems to suit the system and seems less replaceable than Pulisic. Havertz’s stats are excellent and the last 3 games as a false 9 have also seen him correct what were abysmal shooting volumes before that. Both have promise if you’re willing to risk the rotation given they are in the Champions League and the FA Cup still.

Both have very low average minutes against them in this ranking (especially Pulisic) and would be far higher if you believe they could average even 75 minutes per game

Bowen

Not sure why you’d go there given Lingard’s form but it’s worth mentioning he has been playing as a forward and has scored 3 goals and an assist in the last 4 games. Could hold the position if Antonio is out for a while.
