Here’s our fantasy premier league midfielders GW9 player rankings article. There’s a table of stats to help and a spreadsheet that can be filtered how you like.
fantasy premier league midfielders GW9 – player rankings
This is the 2nd article in the player rankings series. There’s also defenders and GKs
Methodology
I’ve picked a selection of midfielders who I think will start GW8 although where there is doubt it is mentioned in the commentary below.
I’ve then looked at their expected goals and assists data in 19/20 so far as well as how it relates to their historical numbers. After that I’ve then adjusted it for their ability to over/underperform, their bonus potential, their average minutes played and their upcoming 6 fixtures
Stats definitions

A few notes
Not on the list
I’ve not put Martial in as he remains an injury risk although United are hopeful that he will be fit. In retrospect I could have included him. Mahrez I’ve not included due to gametime risk although that could change if Bernardo Silva is banned. Willian I’ve not included due to gametime risk although recent performances have been good. Adam Traore I’ve also left out. He could be an RB or a wing forward or on the bench and his return reocrd is pretty ordinary.
Injury monitors
Maddison, Pogba, Salah, De Bruyne and Cantwell are all injury monitors but in the schedule as Seemingly will be fit. However they should be monitored.
Bernardo Silva
Could be banned for his tweet to Mendy. Has until 21 October to respond. After City’s fixture in GW9
Son, Richarlison and Sigurdsson
If the form ranking is low but the FFG PPG is high then that will be down to their history meaning their current performances could improve and/or they have very good fixtures ahead. This also applies in reverse.
Son has started the season well in terms of returns but his underlying stats have been poor. However his history gives him the benefit of the doubt so he’s still rated highly.
Richarlison and especially Sigurdsson have started poorly but their good fixtures coming up and history have helped their ranking.
