Heres a brief fantasy premer league news catch up including some notes on the World Cup qualifiers

World Cup Qualifiers

Here’s a brief round up of the world cup qualifying matches.  I’m focusing on the scorers and those playing miles away, particularly in South America  who will be rotation risks for GW8

Star of the night was Lukaku for Belgium scoring 2 goals against Croatia to seal their place at next years world cup.

Schurrle and Ozil scored for Germany against Ireland.  Interestingly Darron Gibson played although his return playing a part in Barkleys gametime is well and truly over

RVP scored a hat trick against Hungary  (ranked 30 in the world) in their 8-1 win.  His fantasy premier league owners will hope that continues over the next 2 home games against Southampton and Stoke.

Nicolas Bendter scored twice for Denmark  against Italy to attempt to show that he could step up if Giroud is injured.  Southamptons Osvaldo also scored for Italy in that game to continue his improving run of form

Zabaleta and Aguero played the full 90 minutes for Argentina against Peru in Buenos Aires.  There’s also an  additional fixtures against Uruguay on Tuesday which must cast some doubt on their gametime for Saturdays tough GW8 match away to West Ham.  Coloccini and Lamela were on the bench.

Dzeko continued his great Domestic and International scoring record with 2 against Liechtenstein.

Rooney, Townsend and Sturridge were all on the mark against Montenegro.  Townsend particularly was impressive although with Lennon back soon it will be interesting to see if he holds his place.  Jovetic played well for the losers hitting the bar

Ramsey played a full 90 minutes for Wales

Siggy scored for Iceland over Cyprus

Altidore scored for the USA against Jamaica

Fulhams CB Amorebieta made the long trip to San Cristobal for Venezuela against Paraguay for their 1-1 draw.

Cardiff’s Gary Medel lined up in the 3-3 draw between Colombia and Chile in Colombia

Luis Suarez played the full 90 minutes for Uruguay in their 1-0 loss to Ecuador who’s team included Antonio Valencia who must be considered ripe for rotation for the Man Utd GW8 team.  Hard to see Suarez rotated for GW8 though given he’s only played 3 times this season

Figueroa and Palacios combined for a clean sheet for Honduras in their win over Cost Rica where Bryan Ruiz played 60 minutes giving Jol a little needed excuse for rotation for their GW8 game.  Figueroa still should start GW8 given the lack of LB options.

Michu started and played 57 minutes for Spain in their win over Belarus in Majorca.  Negredo continued his form with the winner.

Oscar also scored for Brazil in a friendly against South Korea in Seoul.  it will be interesting to see if this travelling will give more chance of Mata playing number 10 against Cardiff

Glen Johnson

Back in training this week after his ankle injury on September 1st.  No date has been put on his return game though as yet.  It will be interesting to see what this means for the Liverpool line up with them having gone to 3-5-2 or 3-4-1-2 if you want to call it that.  Personally I think it will stay.  Johnson could easily fit into the RWB role which would allow Suarez and Sturridge to play equally up top.  It will also avoid the whole who to play at CB conundrum with Sakho Skrtel Agger and Toure all in the frame.

Cleverley

Out for both England games due to a calf injury.  Nothing on time frames though for a return.  Not really a fantasy premier league issue as Fellaini assuming he does postpone his wrist surgery will take the other CDM position.  I guess it does mean that its one less person to play on the flanks as he has done once or twice allow cheapie Janzaj to continue

Price rises and falls

Only 2 £0.2m price rises which are Lukaku and Remy.  £0.1m risers so far are Boruc, Baines, Walker, Fonte, Terry, Oscar, Barkley, Ramsey, YYT, Januzaj, Sturridge and Suarez.

too many falls to mention.  The only £0.2 falls are Soldado and Lamela which are probably understandable given Soldado was dropped against West Ham and Townsends form for England making it difficult for Lamela to get in the side.
