fantasy premier league news catch up – Monday 9 September 2013

News

Here’s the fantasy premier league news catch up for Monday 9th September including.  Silva,  Kompany, Johnson, Sturridge plus Oscar and Hazard.  All injuries and the implications for your fantasy premier league team.  A bit of a learning for those not playing their fantasy premier league Wildcards on why you shouldn’t transfer early on the International break

David Silva

Will miss the Chile  friendly according to Spanish official sources. The apparent hamstring injury is described as a “Slight muscle injury”  and “as a precaution he will be sent home to avoid any complication to the injury”
No time frame or any implications at the moment for GW4.  Nasri is the only potential beneficiary but clarity needed over time frame before any mass selling panic.  Jovetic is a forward in my mind.

Glen Johnson

Rumoured to be out for 10 weeks with a knee injury. I haven’t seen anything official from the club yet though before you dump him to avoid any price drop. The injury if confirmed does give the opportunity for £4.4m RB cheapie Wisdom to get some gametime. Wait first though as Sakho could get the nod instead.  While I’m not ordinarily a fan of doubling up on defence such is their fixtures that at this price its worthwhile if this is the actual injury profile and its Wisdom who gets the nod.

Sturridge

Ruled out of both WCQs due to thigh injury. A major concern for his fantasy premier league owners with Liverpool having an excellent series of fixtures.
Apparently the club will continue to monitor his fitness before the Swansea away game for GW4
More disconcerting will be who takes his place for Coutinho owners especially.  In my mind its likely to be Aspas who looks unready to lead the line. If you own Aspas its a good short term result so hold on.

Kompany

Out until October on the latest reports although nothing official that I’ve seen. That’s at least GW7 in fantasy premier league vernacular.
Although City have a GW4 clash against Stoke which has clean sheet potential even with the bumbling performance against Hull by Nastasic and Lescott.   After that they have some difficult games. In my mind then I’m holding off the City defence until Kompany is back as he looks good value and without him they don’t look solid to say the least.  By the way if you didn’t realise new CB signing Demichelis is out for 6 weeks.

Oscar and Hazard

Oscar with an ankle injury. Hazard with an achilles injury.
Oscars expected back this week but Hazard has no return date on Physio room.
Willian will probably take the left and shocker maybe even the clubs player of the season for the last 2 years could get a game. That’s Mata by the way. Or it could be De Bruyne and put Mata further down the pecking order?
That’s it!
