fantasy premier league news catch up – Monday 19th August 2013

News, various

Here’s the fantasy premier league news update for Monday, plus the implications for your fantasy premier league team

Nathan Baker

£4.0m cheapie was forced off in the win against Arsenal with an ankle injury.  Lambert said he will be assessed prior to the Chelsea game.  Although he started against my belief on saturday i still think long term Okore will take the spot so personally I wouldnt be investing in him.  the good news on the £4.0m defender front was that Ben turner started for Cardiff, chester for Hull and ward for Palace so there are some alternative choices

Osvaldo

The Italian international striker of Argentiain descent joined Soithampton for £15m from Roma.  The player scored 16 goals in 25 starts and 4 as sub at a rate of a goal and assist every 128 minutes or so.  Thats pretty impressive, along the lines of Benteke last year but not in the league of Suarez or RVP who are better than 100.  I don’t think his purchase will be an issue for Lambert but I think it will be for Rodriguez.

Lambert with Pens and free kicks plus an all round game is hard to look past for Saints and Osvaldo’s attraction will depend on his advice.  He’s not on the site yet anyway but I would see what happens before jumping in

Bale

AVB says his “injury” will probably prevent him from playing against Swansea next week as the game of chicken continues between Levy and Real Madrid.  Can Spurs adjust to not having their “get out of jail” free card is the question.  A home game against Swansea, who defend better away than at home, will be very interesting.  Can they break them down.  Soldado only for me at the moment.

Scott Parker

How many CDMs do you need?  Boateng, Sidwell, Karagounis and now Parker? £4.5m is only worth it if he is a regular, not a common word for Jol who’s a bit of a rotation freak.  Parker wont get many goals or assists but he will get YCs.  I would stay away.

Other injuries

Richardson – Fulham -No return date for the preferred LB.  It does give a chance to £4.0m cheapie Briggs And although I’m no fan of the Fulham defence I would be at this price.  Monitor the situation for news on his injury

Steklenburg – Fulham  again no return date as yet but Stockdale at £4.5m even in the long term isnt worth it for me. 2 £4.5ms keeper don’t add up to £9.5m Mignolet and a non player

Palacios – Stoke.  Out for a few weeks.  Hopefully continued playing time for out of position Wilson who maybe an option when stokes schedule improves

The Ox – Knee injury in the Villa game.  No return date but could be out for 6 months if its serious medial damage.  Could open the way for Podoldki or Rosicky to hold down a place in the midfield attacking 3.

Price rises and falls
