fantasy premier league news catch up – November 22

News

Here’s the fantasy premier league news for Thursday 22nd November including Cabaye, Zamora, Downing, Benitez, Champs league and price rises/falls

Cabaye

Cabaye was injured while he was away with France and is out until the New Year according to the Daily Mail

He joins Fabricio Coloccini, Chieck Tiote, Jonas Gutierrez on the sideline

Pardew said: ‘He will definitely have an operation on Friday or Monday. It is a blow because he is a top player for us.’

Zamora

Zamora is set to miss the next three months with a hip injury according to the Daily Mail.

The injury is likely to see Zamora sidelined until early next year which should mean continued starts for Cisse as there is now no alternative apart from Mackie

Downing

A loan deal back to Boro is mooted but the Daily Mail although the window closes soon for the Championship to do this.  Sterling looks secure but this would just cement it.  Otherwise no effect for fantasy premier league managers

Benitez and Chelsea

Well I got that one wrong.  Not exactly a step forward in his Barcelona vision and if he’s really done it to get the best out of Torres then talk about good money after bad…

Anyway here’s the statement on the Chelsea website

A statement on the club website said: ‘Chelsea Football Club can confirm Rafael Benitez has been appointed interim first-team manager until the end of the season.
‘The owner and the Board believe that in Benitez we have a manager with significant experience at the highest level of football, who can come in and immediately help deliver our objectives.

‘The 52-year-old Spaniard is due to meet the players at the training ground in Cobham tomorrow.’

I think that the defence should tighten here and the City game should give us a steer in to how he wants to line up although there may be some tinkering while he finds his first choice.  The next 4 fixtures aren’t easy but after the City game there is a little clean sheet potential.  Unfortunately the Chelsea defensive assets don’t come cheap so I wont be purchasing with those fixtures myself.

On the attacking front I cant see hoe he’s suddenly going to turn back the clock with Torres and apart from the Fulham game I don’t see alot of goals in these next fixtures. The whole 3 amigos thing seems way too unstructured for Benitez.  The interesting one will be Moses if Benitez wants more width which is something he has looked to do in previous jobs.  Oscar is perhaps the most vulnerable.  I think the fantasy premier league managers dream of Hazard playing up front now though is dead and Torres will be persevered with.

Champs league

City put pretty much  a first choice line up apart from Carlos Tevez last night so fantasy premier league owners of him can pretty much guarantee he will be starting against Chelsea.  I cant see much rotation for such an important game and I’m assuming Aguero will also play.  The main attacking question will be whether Silva or Nasri play or both.  My guess is given the importance of the game and the desire for City to be tight that Silva will play but not Nasri but Mancini isn’t easy to predict.

It was also a first choice Arsenal that was picked for the Montpellier game.  The game was interesting for the fact that Gibbs and Gervinho were on the bench and that Gervinho came on.

I think Gibbs will come back to the team as soon as possible meaning that either Mertesacker or Koscielny will miss out. It’s a bit hard to predict but avoid the problem and go for Sagna at £5.4m.

Gervinho’s appeal when he’s not a striker is limited and Walcott should start ahead of him when the shoulder is repaired so I wouldn’t rush out to buy him.

Giroud had a good game with 2 assists and Podolski scoring 2 games in a row is also interesting.  I would keep with Giroud as an arsenal forward though.  Great stats

Price rises/falls

Sterling and Suarez remain the £0.2m price rises and are now joined by Ruddy believe it or not.  He’s a good rotation choice in my mind but the cheap route in to the Norwich defence is Turner at £4.2m. 10 other £0.1m price rises.

As for price falls there are a load of £0.1m falls but no £0.2m falls.
