fantasy premier league news of the day – 27 September 2012

News

Here’s the fantasy premier league news of the day for Thursday 27 September.  Includes John Terry, Vermaelen, Jack Cork, Rooney, Capital one Cup plus price rises/falls

John Terry

JT got the 4 match ban than was expected plus a loose change fine of £220k. No need for fantasy premier league owners  to panic sell just yet though as it doesn’t kick in until the appeal is finished or not undertaken. Heres the quote in the Daily Mail from the FA

‘The penalty is suspended until after the outcome of any appeal, or the time for appealing expires, or should Mr Terry decide not to appeal. The reason for this is to ensure that the penalty does not take effect before any appeal so that Mr Terry has an effective right of appeal.’

Ultimately though it will be 4 fantasy premier league games for Luiz and Cahill to play together, depending on what other domestic competitions they straddle.

Vermaelen

The Mail reports that Vermaelen will be fit for the Home game against Chelsea. No quote from the club by the way so wait for the Friday press conference.

After Koscielny’s performance against City it will be interesting to see who partners him. This will be of special interest given Arsenals fixtures after the Chelsea game especially when you consider Merteasacker is at the bargain price of £5.3m

Jack Cork

The Southampton midfielder is out for 4-6 weeks with a knee injury from the Capital one cup game. Fantasy premier league owners of Schneiderlin, Ward-Prowse, Puncheon and other cheapies will be relieved that there is one less player to compete against.

Capital one cup

Rooney plays the full 90 minutes. Owners of Kagawa should be very nervous for the game against Spurs. It will be interesting to see if Rooney starts and how he plays with RVP. Utds fixtures mean that there is at least some monitoring time before the ultimate flat track bully has a chance to unleash on other teams

Giroud opened his Arsenal account and Walcott scored 2. The quality of the opposition means its hard to see this having any consequence on future selection

Sigurdsson and Dempsey both played for Spurs, giving no clue how they will line up in future matches. The game away to Man U will give some clues without a high risk of missing out on any significant returns

Reading and QPR had reasonable strong teams out. One to watch Hoilett scored interestingly. Not sure what playing says about his game time prospects but a goal is a goal confidence wise.

A second string extremely young Liverpool team beat a strong WBA lineup, worryingly for fantasy premier league owners of players in this WBA team. Although it should be noted that key players McAuley and Morrison didnt play.  Sahin scored 2 which has to be good news for those wanting to putchase him now that Shelvy is banned. Looks a likely replacement and this performance wouldn’t have done any harm.

Price rises/falls

Rises:  Significant ones are  – One to watch Fellaini up £0.3m, Also ones to watch Ba, Baines and Lambert up £0.2m as is Fletcher.

Falls:  Petric and Adebayor fall £0.2m.  Numerous £0.1m falls
