News

Here’s the fantasy premier league news for Tuesday 20th August 2013

Micah Richards

Man City official tweet:

Micah missed out tonight after picking up a hamstring strain in training yesterday but he’ll be be back in action in a few weeks!

Good news for Zabaleta fantasy premier league managers who  own him and for that matter managers who purchased Lescott as Richards can also play CB.

Kompany

Aligned to the above.  The Guardian report that Kompany is likely to be injured until the Manchester Derby on September 22.  The Man City defence is not as strong without him and the price of Zab and Clichy at £6.0m doesn’t seem worth it to me in Kompany’s absence.  Hopefully after his return Nastasic (or more unlikely Lescott) at £5.5m will be fit again and establish himself to get better value.

Aly Cissokho

The 25 year old  French LB  from Valencia  joined Liverpool on a season long loan.  Purchased as competition and rotation for Enrique.  Should be interesting to see his price as Enrique with his penchant for long diagonal passing doesn’t really fit in to the Rodgers mould. Apparently Cissokho is very attack minded and last year started 18 games plus 7 as sub   for Valencia with 2 goals and 2 assists.  Don’t think he’ll go straight in to the team but could definitely be a threat.  Price as I said will be interesting

Cabaye

Didn’t play last night after an Arsenal bid, practically in the warm up, according to Pardew gave him the excuse he needed for another woeful defensive performance.  Don’t bank on him playing until the transfer issue is sorted.

Osvaldo

New Southampton striker Osvaldo came in to fantasy premier league at £8.0m.  Way too expensive in my mind.  Lambert with pens and free kicks and an all round game bringing in assists and goals looks better to me.  Rodriguez looks like he will lose his place though.  Bony and even RVW look better purchases to me at the moment at a similar price level.

Hazard

Interesting Mourinho comments on him in the Daily Mail

I want more responsibility and more ambition. When you are a normal player you have to be happy if you perform OK, when you have actions during the game that show quality.

‘But when you are a top talent you can’t waste that talent, when somebody gives you that talent. I think at this talent level he is somebody very above us.

‘I want to give him that responsibility and ambition, for the kid to be better and better and to express himself on the pitch match after match.

‘Don’t be up and down but to always be at the top of his game because he has the conditions to be a top player.

‘This is what I want, whether I can get it I don’t know but he is working very, very hard. I’m very happy with the kid.’

Hard as ever to read Mourinho but it seems mostly positive and towards good game time in the future.  It will be interesting to see Mata tomorrow and who lines up against United and then we should have a true feel for the first choice line up.

Other injuries

  • From the Arsenal official site:

Arsène Wenger has revealed the latest team news ahead of Wednesday’s game at Fenerbahce:
on the team news…
The difference from Saturday is that Oxlade-Chamberlain is out for a while with a knee problem. Everybody else should make it. There’s a final decision [on Wednesday] but Sagna and Gibbs should be available. Nacho Monreal is back and will travel.

As I said yesterday The Ox injured will mean  Rosicky or Podolski joining Cazorla and Walcott in a midfield attacking 3.

  • De Guzman should be back for GW2.  Not sure where he will fit back though.  Maybe instead of Canas
  • Villa twitter site:  Paul Lambert expects to be without Nathan Baker for about a week after the defender picked up an ankle injury against Arsenal.   Villa have no game in GW3 so expect him back for GW4.  Clark  to take his position considering he came on as sub for the short term only.
  • Mata fit for tomorrows game against Villa.  De Bruyne is my pick to miss out but who the attacking midfield 3 will be is difficult to predict.

Price rises and falls

Coleman and Barkley up £0.1m.

no price falls
