fantasy premier league – “ones to watch” midfielders – GW10 Buy Hold or Sell

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s the GW10 “ones to watch” for Midfielders on the Barclays fantasy premier league  in the buy hold or sell format for GW10.  This will give the best midfield players at a variety of price ranges using a range of stats to make my case

I’ve provided the following stats to support the player choices and to guide you in your decisions.  I’ve now moved this to this year:

1.  Goals and assists this year.   I’m using this years stats.

2.  Time per point scored this year.  This is how many minutes it takes for a Barclays fantasy premier league point to be scored over the course of this season. The lower the better obviously.

3.  Rotation risk.  High, medium or low.  High is the greatest risk of rotation.

4.  Fixture ease ranking:  The link is at the bottom of the article but essentially I’ve ranked all the teams by the ease of the first 6 fixtures.  The team with the best ranking ie 1 will have the easiest next fixtures of any of the fantasy premier league teams over the next 6 games.

5.  Consistency:  The % of times that the player got a goal or assist or 2 point minimum bonus  as a % of games played

6.  I’ve also ranked them in their categories as who I think is currently the best choice

Midfielders

1.  Silva (£9.3m) BUY

  • Goals and assists:  2 goals 3 assists.  Time per point scored:  14.9  mins .  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 13th.  Consistency 4/6   75%

If you’re going to buy at home to Norwich is a good place to do so.  The main alternative for City if you’re not buying Aguero.  Probably has more certainty of gametime than Aguero but not as devastating.  Could be a captain option but probably wont produce the devastating returns Aguero can.  Consistency is good though and producing good underlying shooting and creating chances stats.

Norwich (H)   Sunderland (A)   Tottenham (H)   Swansea (H)   West Brom (A)   Southampton (A)

2.  Ramsey (£7.0m) BUY

  • Goals and assists:  5 goals 4 assists.  Time per point scored:    11.6 mins .  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 16th.  Consistency 6/9   67%

Another game another assist.  Its an incredible 6 returns from 9 games.  His role does seem to be a little unclear especially when all the injuries clear up but just keeps shrugging all this off and continues scoring and assisting.  If ever there was a time to pause it was now though with 3 tricky games next   I’m holding now but if you own Ozil, Giroud and Ramsey then you have  to sell at least 1.  To me it wouldn’t be Ramsey.

Next 6 fixtures:

Liverpool (H)   Man Utd (A)   Southampton (H)   Cardiff City (A)   Hull City (H)   Everton (H)

3.  Ozil (£10.8) BUY

  • Goals and assists:  2 goals 4 assists.  Time per point scored:  12.3  mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 16th.  Consistency 3/5    50%

Interesting one this.  Only 1 assist from 4 away games is a little bit of a worrying sign.  Personally he makes me nervous with his reliance on assists as opposed to goals but you can’t deny his world class quality.  That quality keeps it as a hold but if you have Giroud and him then I would sell one and it would probably be Ozil

Liverpool (H)   Man Utd (A)   Southampton (H)   Cardiff City (A)   Hull City (H)   Everton (H)

4.  Oscar (£9.0m)  BUY

  • Goals and assists:  4 goals 0 assists  Time per point scored:  13.0 mins .  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 7th.  Consistency: 4/8   50%

Seems to be the favoured number 10 which in itself is a reason to consider for selection.  No underlying stats though ether in shooting or creating chances but relys on his central position and getting in the box to produce the results.  Personally I would prefer smeone who had more backing with shooting consistency but form and position are good

Next 6 fixtures:

Norwich (H)   Sunderland (A)   Tottenham (H)   Swansea (H)   West Brom (A)   Southampton (A)

5.  Hazard (£9.1m) BUY

  • Goals and assists:  3 goals 2 assists.  Time per point scored:   15.6  mins .  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 10th.  Consistency 3/9   33%

A really frustrating individual who has a 33% consistency rate and apart from the goal at Norwich everything has been at home.   Only 2 games at home in the next 6 and one against Southampton which wont be easy  Has got good underlying shooting and creating chances stats which gives some hope he can get back to last year but it is a leap of faith

Newcastle (A)   West Brom (H)   West Ham (A)   Southampton (H)   Sunderland (A)   Stoke City (A)

6.  Michu (£8.9m) HOLD

  • Goals and assists:  2 goal 1 assist.  Time per point scored:  21.9 mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 6th.  Consistency 3/9    33%

Another good fixture, another worryingly quiet performance from Michu in terms of returns and underlying stats.  Still the fixtures are fantastic so there  is reason to hold.  Not returned in 4 now and its definitely not comfortable and its a fixture hold only at the moment.

Next 6 fixtures

Cardiff City (A)   Stoke City (H)   Fulham (A)   Man City (A)   Newcastle (H)   Hull City (H)

7.  Lallana (£6.4m) HOLD

  • Goals and assists:  2 goals 2 assists.  Time per point scored:  14.9  mins .  Rotation risk: low   fixture ease ranking: 18th.  Consistency 4/9   44%

Considering the siege that Saints put Fulham under you would have expected returns from Lallana but it just didn’t happen.   In some ways this isn’t surprising after last ear when he just didn’t return as much as his high midfield position suggested he would. Now there’s some  tricky fixtures including 3 against likely top 4 finishers and either now is a good place to sell or before the Arsenal and Chelsea double.

Next 6 fixtures:  Stoke City (A)   Hull City (H)   Arsenal (A)   Chelsea (A)   Aston Villa (H)   Man City (H)

8.  Mirallas (£7.2m) HOLD

  • Goals and assists:  1 goals 3 assists.  Time per point scored:  19.0  mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 17th.  Consistency 3/9   33%

Again traditionally has a good position as an advanced  midfielder for returns but despite getting lots of shots  has just not returned on any consistent basis.  There are plenty of selling points along the way mainly depending on whether you think its worth waiting for Palace away.  It is a sell for me though its just when

Next 6 fixtures:  Tottenham (H)   Crystal Palace (A)   Liverpool (H)   Stoke City (H)   Man Utd (A)  Arsenal (A)

9.  Nani (£7.4m) HOLD

  • Goals and assists:  0 goals 0 assists.  Time per point scored:  35.4  mins .  Rotation risk: high   fixture ease ranking: 5th.  Consistency 0/5   0%

Was abysmal against Stoke but its Fulham next and if I had purchased I would sell after this game assuming he even gets selected

Next 6 fixtures:

Fulham (A)   Arsenal (H)   Cardiff City (A)   Tottenham (A)   Everton (H)   Newcastle (H)

 Siggy (£7.3m) SELL

  • Goals and assists:  3 goals 0 assist.  Time per point scored:  12.7 mins .  Rotation risk: high.   fixture ease ranking: 14th.  Consistency 2/7    29%

Left out of the side against Hull after 2 substitutions and definitely a time to sell with fixtures not looking good

Next 6 fixtures:

Everton (A)   Newcastle (H)  Man City (A)   Man Utd (H)   Fulham (A)   Sunderland (A)

Budget midfielders

1.  Amalfitano  (£5.2m) BUY (injury doubt) –  An injury doubt so don’t buy now but 2 goals and 2 assists in 6 games is a healthy return

2.  Brady (£5.2m) HOLD –   A pen and set piece punt in a side that has Sunderland next.  Hopefully the Subs bench was just a fitness thing and he will start here

3.  Barkley (£5.6m) Hold –    has probably peaked and no returns in 3.  With other budget players arriving on the scene could be a time to sell to generate funds

4.  R Morrison (£4.6m) BUY – started the last 6 games which have resulted in 2 goals and an assist and now looks a good cheapie option

5.  Januzaj (£4.9m) BUY –  On the subs bench so just a watchout for future gametime.  However against Fulham is a good time to gamble

6.  Kasami (£4.5m) BUY – Played the last 6 which is  some feat under Martin Jol with 3 goals which is a good benchwarming option

7.  Whittingham (£5.1m) HOLD –   A set pieces and pens hold only with a 1 goal and 2 assists in first 9 games.
