As you would have seen I’ve been dabbling with a few articles during the break between seasons after initially being on holiday for 2 weeks. Next weekend the pre-season starts with a few teams having pre-season games and thats when I’ll try and produce articles on a more regular basis. I may also try and make some improvements to the website so please excuse any unexpected changes. Here is a very quick fantasy premier league pre-season 2015/16 article to outline what I’ll be doing in pre-season so you have a bit of context around the articles to come. Pre-season is all about getting our team ready for GW1 on August 8. So here’s the things we’ll be looking to establish over the course of the next month or so before the season starts
Lineups
One of the key things is to establish each teams lineups for GW1. That will be focused on these things:
- Finding the cheap fillers. The aspirational targets are £4.0m defenders for the 3-5 defensive spots plus the home and away cheap defensive rotations. Also the £4.5m mids as the 5th midfielder.
- Finding any value in the top 4 challenging teams. Those players who get into the team unexpectedly
- Looking at the promoted teams to understand the lineups, value and key players
- The formation and position of players
As we get closer to the start of the season we’ll start trying to predict the GW1 lineup to help you tinker with your FPL team
The first 3 points above won’t be possible until the fantasy premier league season opens which I believe does co-incide with the pre-season getting into full throttle.
Form
Finding the form players of pre-season. This has been a bit of a mixed blessing in recent years. Last seasons pre-season form player who flopped was Erik Lamela. However for those teams with good fixtures form will help in identifying a player who can fill that differential hole for GW1
Copa America and UEFA Under 21
Pre-season will help us determine whether these players such as Kane, Aguero, Coutinho, Firmino and Sanchez are likely to start in GW1
New players
We’ll be particularly looking at new players to the league or new players to teams to see how and in what position they perform
New Managers
We’ll look at the new managers such as Bilic at West Ham and McLaren to Newcastle to ascertain their effect on their new clubs
