Arsenal 2 Madrid 2

Goals:  Lacazette pen, Aubameyang

Lineup:

Lineup wise were no closer to knowing what the GW1 lineup will be.  No Torreira due to COPA America rest but that looks a possible front 4 although there was a double negative whammy for Aubameyang with him playing RAM as well as seeing Lacazette take the penalty although he was the one fouled.  It’s hard to read anything into what Emery does he’s so unpredictable.  I’m sure he had reasons for a 4/5 second string back 5 against Barca but whatever.

£7.0m mid Mkhitaryan starts again which is a positive for me at least as no one else seems to rate him.  No sign of £4.5m bargain Holding even on the subs bench although he is training.  To be fair he wasn’t expected to play in America.  Ozil as a CAM at £7.5m?

Fleetwood town 0 Burnley 2

Goals Koiki, Wood

Burnley first half: Hart; Lowton, Long, Tarkowski, Taylor; Lennon, Hendrick, Westwood, Koiki; Vydra, Rodriguez.

Second half: Hart; Bardsley, Long, Dunne, Pieters; Gudmundsson, Cork, Benson, McNeil; Barnes, Wood.

2 halves with 9 different players 2nd half.  There was even a trialist involved believe it or not.  Luckily Dyche is fairly predictable and there are slim Burnley pickings anyway.  Pope was rested but no sign of Heaton.  That’s one area that it would be nice to get resolution on.

Here’s a local match report

Chelsea 2 Barcelona 1

Goals;  Abraham and Barkley

Lineups by 90 mins

Starting XI: Arrizabalaga (6); Azpilicueta (6), Luiz (7), Christensen (6), Emerson (6); Jorginho (7), Kovacic (6), Mount (6); Pedro (5), Pulisic (8*), Abraham (7).

Substitutes: Alonso (7), Zouma (6), Tomori (6), Barkley (6), Kenedy (5), Giroud (7), Bakayoko (6), Zappacosta (6), Batshuayi (5), Drinkwater (6).

PREMIER LEAGUE FRIENDLIES

The first half team looks a good nod for a starting 11 apart from the injured Kante and the form of £6.0m Barkley.  Still not enough at the moment to see who the £5.0m CB bargain is between Christensen and Zouma.  Pulisic’s display is promising as a LW for £7.5m as is £7.0m Abraham starting and scoring.  Things could be taking shape.

Cambridge 0 Leicester 3

Goals Choudhury, Ihenacho and Maguire

CITY (4-1-4-1): Schmeichel; Ricardo (Justin, 62), Evans (Soyuncu, 20), Maguire (Morgan, 62), Chilwell (Fuchs, 62); Mendy (Choudhury, 46); Gray (Barnes, 46), Tielemans (Silva, 62), King (Maddison, 46), Albrighton (Ghezzal, 62); Vardy (Iheanacho, 62).

Unused subs: Jakupovic, Ughelumba, Tavares.

So a quite close to full strength first half lineup.  Mendy would become the AFCON rested Ndidi and King would become Maddison and add in the injured Perez and  there you are.

Hard to take any form views from such limited opposition though

Here’s a local paper report

Chesterfield 0 Sheffield United 5

Goals:  Freeman, Sharp 3, Robinson

Blades: Dewhurst, Stevens (Fleck 77), Basham, Lundstram, L. Freeman, Sharp (Boyes 79), Robinson (McGoldrick 65), Jagielka (Stearman 77), K. Freeman (Baldock 67), Bryan, Slater (Norwood 67).
Unused: Moore, O’Connell, Egan, Brunt.

Not really a full lineup to take from this as it was still a bit mixed and obviously the gap of quality negates any real form issues.  £4.0m Lundstram started again but it’s difficult to tell from the information whether as a CB or CM.  There’s a video but it’s pretty useless if they don’t give you the shirt numbers and there’s no commentary.  The scorers are announced on the tannoy so I could at least work out who they were.  Good finishing from Sharp and Robinson looked lively as well.

Mousset wasn’t in the squad.

Guangzhou 0 Southampton 4

Goals;  Adams, Long, Klarer, Valery

FRASER FORSTER (GK) JACK BYCROFT (76′) YAN VALERY OLUDARE OLUFUNWA (46′) MAYA YOSHIDA (C) AARON O’DRISCOLL (46′) JAKE VOKINS KORNELIUS HANSEN (76′) TOM O’CONNOR CHRISTOPH KLARER SHANE LONG
MARCUS BARNES (46′) CALLUM SLATTERY ALEX JANKEWITZ (61′) CHÉ ADAMS DAN N’LUNDULU (46′) WILL SMALLBONE
CALEB WATTS (61′) JOSH SIMS TYREKE JOHNSON (46′)

Excuse caps that’s how it came on the website.

Hard to take much from this in such a 1 sided game with such a mixed lineup.  Were trying to find out who the strikers will be,  who the cheap £5.5m mid will be out of Armstrong, Ely and Djenpo none of who featured.  Also that Gunn is the number 1 keeper.  We learnt nothing from this although Adams and Long scoring will do their case no harm although they were both given absolute gifts
