If you haven’t seen the article before this is where we analyse the teams of 10 top FPL managers where in the last 3 seasons none have finished outside the top 10k. The top 10 Managers have played 30 times in the last 3 years and none have finished outside the top 10k in that time. Considering how variable the last 3 years have been this is remarkable consistency and shows an ability to adapt strategy in different seasons. It also gives you a view other than my own on strategy and player selection.

The top 10 FPL managers stats
Stats of the top 10 managers are incredible again.
1. Overall average finishing position of the top 10 managers is 2,943
2. The top 10 FPL managers have not been out of the top 10k in the last 3 years (ie 30 times playing)
3. 9 of the 10 have finished in the top 1,000
Gameweek review
A mixed week for the top 10 FPL managers. 6 of the 10 had green arrows.
The average score of the managers in GW38 was 88 compared to the average of 58. Thats 30 points and 58% above the average score. The high score of the 10 was 104. The low score was 71. A big spread of 33 even for a relatively high scoring gameweek.
The average overall rank of the top 10 FPL managers improved by 3k to 48k compared to the last gameweek of 51k. The best rank is now, incredibly 15th and the lowest 215k. If you calculated the median rank then that worsened to 20k compared to 17k last gameweek. A worsening of rank of 3k. 8 finished with overall ranks inside 100k. 4 finished inside the top 10k.
The average value sees an improvement to £106.0m up from £105.9m in the last gameweek.

Comparison with the top 10k
Here’s a comparison with the how the top 10k overall rank average team looks like. The information is provided by the excellent site FPL discovery.
The average points scored of the top 10k was 88. The same as the top FPL managers
They have some big differences (30% difference is the benchmark) with the top 10k rank.
The top 10k favour any player more significantly than the top 10 managers I follow.

Focus on 1 managers team
For the last time we focus on the managers team who last season finished the highest of my then top 10 FPL managers ending up in 1,400th position. This manager is the closest thing to a fantasy football celebrity there is due to his consistent results so we’ll keep an eye on him.
Here’s his team. Another disappointing result of 71 and resulted in him being the lowest scorer of the 10 managers. His rank dropped to 22k and bizaarely he ended up with the same points as me. No Kane has hurt him badly
Just to give you a bit of context his last 3 years overall rankings have been 1,450, 277 and 90.
Highest gameweek scorer
104 points with bench boost used. Overall rank 4k
Lowest gameweek scorer
The lowest scorer apart from the celebrity manager above with 74 points with bench boost used. Overall rank is 71k.
When I compare teams scores the reasons for a difference are normally
Defence
Captain pick
1 or 2 attacking players.
The difference in the 2 teams was 33.
This didn’t follow the normal pattern. The Captain pick was 16 points. However 4 of the 7 players were different which isn’t normal and all 4 contributed to the difference
