The Fantasy premier league site 2019/20 is live

The fantasy premier league site for 19/20 is live.  A bit sooner than I expected,  even given the recent price releases. Here’s a few observations and our FPL league code.

The Fantasy premier league site 2019/20 is live

So the site opened around midday.  It looks pretty much the same visually.

Here’s a few observations:

GKs

Firstly the lack of £4.5m GKs let alone £4.0’s.  Guaita and Fabianski are disappointingly £5.0m.  I mentioned I was hoping Guaita would be £4.5m on our FFGeek podcast

Brighton’s Ryan appears to be the only nailed starter at £4.5m outside of the promoted teams.  Although Gunn of Southampton should be and one of Pope or Heaton should be as well.  If Eddie Howe can make a decision then one of Begovic, Boruc or Travers will start at £4.5m.

Of the promoted teams neither Steer nor Henderson are in the game for Villa and Sheffield United.  Henderson is back at Man Utd but not in that list.  Krul is there for Norwich at £4.5m.

Defenders

Robertson and Alexander Arnold are at £7.0m which could have been worse.

Mendy at £6.0m and Laporte £6.5m.  Alonso is interesting at £6.5m if he starts. Otherwise Chelsea hold firm at £6.0m.

Doherty at £6.0m.  Wan Bissaka at £5.5m obviously in anticipation of the move.

Digne up to £6.0m.  Maguire and Chilwell stay at £5.5m while Pereira goes to £6.0m.

Stevens of Sheffield disappointingly £5.0m.

Spurs all around £5.5m.

West Ham, Brighton, Watford, Southampton and Newcastle have choices at £4.5m.

Not looking good for the £4.0m defender.  Kelly could do temporarily while Sakho and Tomkins are injured although I’m not aware of their return dates.  Scott Dann will be ahead of Kelly though I suspect.

Simpson of Bournemouth is a very outside chance but Cook and Mepham I imagine are ahead of him.

Midfielders

Sterling £12.0, Salah £12.5 and Mane £11.5.  I always doubted a Mane, Salah, Sterling and Aguero (£12.0) attacking 4 would be on with a Man City and Liverpool defender also and that definitely seems the case after those prices.

No huge surprises for me in the rest.  Bernardo Silva and Richarlison at £8.0m surprised me.   Perez of Newcastle as a midfielder at £6.5m was unexpected especially if a more attacking coach comes in and plays him as a striker.

Martial at £7.5m if the real Martial still exists.  Daniel James is £6.0m

De Bruyne at £9.5.  I was hoping for £9.0m.

I like Dendoncker at £4.5m for Wolves if he looks a certain starter.

Of the promoted teams, Buendia of Norwich £6.0m.  El Gahzi £5.5m for Villa.  Norwood £5.0m for Sheffield United

Not much going on in the secure £4.5m section.  Stephens of Brighton and Hayden of Newcastle aren’t particularly exciting.  I’m not sure of the promoted £4.5ms as I write this.

Forwards

Aubameyang £11.0m, Aguero £12.0m and Kane £11.0m are the double figure forwards.

Given that Wilson ended up at £8.om then Jimenez at £7.5m could have been worse.  Jota has become a forward at £6.5m as has Deulofeu at £6.5m.

Rashford increased to £8.5m.  The same price as the likely to be departed Lukaku.

Championship sensation Pukki is £6.5m.  No price for Villa’s Moraes.  Sharp of Sheffield is £6.0m and McGoldrick £5.5m

If you’re thinking of 3-5-2 with a cheap bench striker then it’s slim pickings at £5.5m or under.  Southampton’s Long at £5.0m got a run at the end of last season. McGoldrick is the other possibility at £5.5m although surely there will be signings at Sheffield United.

As I said Moraes could be £5.5m although with Kodja at £5.5m you think Moraes will be £6.0m

I’ve yet to have a go at a first draft team but hopefully will do in the next day or so

Rule changes

I had a quick read of the rules and nothing jumped out at me

This was just a quick overview to announce the game opening.  If I’ve made any mistakes or you want to add anything then please tell me in the comments section. Good luck with your tinkering

    • As an Everton supporter I would say yes, unless they add someone during the Summer there is currently no better option. I don’t see Silva putting Richarlison back up front like they tried for a few weeks last season.

  1. Thanks Greg, that makes sense, I probably should have read the rules instead of starting the 6 week process of setting up my team.
