fantasy premier league – team “under the radar”

Fantasy Premier League

I thought that with people looking to catch up to others in fantasy premier league that the odd differential in their team maybe will help to give them points where others haven’t looked.  So here’s a team where no one is owned by more than 5% of fantasy premier league managers

So this is a team not just with GW8 in mind but future fixtures.  Everyone in it is owned by less than 5% of fantasy premier league managers.  Now there’s a reason that they are only owned by less 5% of fantasy premier league managers and that’s generally because they haven’t performed or have had gametime issues.   So let there be no doubt that all the players below have risk. However they do offer the opportunity to get points over your rivals if you’re trying to catch up.

Personally I don’t look for differentials, I just pick the best players thinking that you will always have some differences and that and captain picks will claw back even the biggest leads that others can have.  However alot of people do see this as a quick way back so  I thought the post maybe of interest.  Its probably more of interest for attacking players than defenders but Iv’e done a full team anyway

Remember the team is a collection of individual ideas for differentials so whatever you do don’t suddenly use your wildcard for this team!

Here it is then with some brief comments:

Arsenal

Szczesny
£5.5 (4.9%)
Reasonable value compared to the rest of the Arsenal defence although players like Mertescaker and Gibbs have reasonable attacking prospects especially with the delivery from the likes of Ozil so probably wouldn’t be a natural choice for me.  However very few decent options under 5%
Everton

Howard
£5.5  (3.3%)
Again Distin offers a cheaper route into the Everton defence and although his attacking potential is limited he initially looks to have good bonus potential

Liverpool

Johnson
£5.7 (4.9%)
Dropped to a decent price and now fit although maybe questionable if he starts on Saturday. should thrive as a RWB if Rodgers continues with 3-5-2
West Ham

Reid
£5.0 (3.6%)
With Collins losing his place Reid suddenly doesn’t look bad value and is a real attacking force on free kicks and corners.  the west ham defence has also looked solid to date
Stoke City

Huth
£5.5  (2.5%)
An expensive Stoke option but one with alot of scoring potential having scored 6 goals in 2010/11.  Wilson at £4.5m is the cheaper version
Southampton

Clyne
£4.4 (3.5%)
The only Sainst defender to be under the radar as he losy his place early in te season.  seems established again and has good assist potential and is one of the rare FBs that seems to be in the bonus points when CSs arrive
Man City

Nastasic
£5.5 (1.2%)
Famous last words but possibly the least effected by rotation at the moment given the injury position at CB.  Has little scoring threat but as a CB has shown some bonus potential
Man City

Silva
£9.3 (4.9%)
Injury has lead to mass sales by fantasy premier league managers and now his ownership is extremely low.  The main creative force in the City midfield and returning to the team straight from injury after Nasri was in such good form showed his importance to Pellegrini. Returned in 3/4 games that wasn’t injured with a goal and 2 assists and is backed up by good shooting and creating chances stats per minute.  ONly question is whether GW8 and GW9 away to West Ham and Chelsea is the right time rather than GW10 home to Norwich
Man Utd

Januzaj
£4.7 (4.6%)
Despite the initial bandwagon has only risen £0.1m but for such a price to be looking at having  reasonable gametime prospects with 3 reasonable games next he seems a great purchase to me
Chelsea
Remove player i
Mata
£9.6 (4.6%)
Mass sales after Mourinho left him out of the starting lineup at the beginning of the season and criticised his defensive work.  However looking like he may have made the breakthrough back into the side and with free kicks and set pieces to add to his ability to get into the box you have a player who last season returned in over 80% of his starts.  Like anyone though in the Chelsea attacking midfield he is a serious gametime risk but if you are going to take a punt home to Cardiff is as good a time as any
Liverpool

Moses
£6.3 (4.0%)
With Coutinho yet to be back in training and Aspas seemingly struggling Moses has the chance for the short term at least to be the CAM in the Rodgers 3-5-2 formation.  He hasn’t been successful with 1 goal in his first 4 games but its really a short term punt on position and fixtures that he has to get the opportunities to score and that he has 2 deadly strikers on the end of chances he created.  If he hadn’t unbelievably missed from a yard or so out against palace this probably wouldn’t even be a debate such is the line between success and failure
Everton

Mirallas
£7.2 (2.8%)
Has had loads of opportunities to score and has some of the best underlying shooting stats he just cant seem to put it in the net.  2 assists in his last 3 games has softened the blow though but you have to think at some stage it will come right.  Home to Hull has to be a great chance if its ever going to happen
Swansea

Bony
£7.5 (4.3%)
With so many quality forwards to pick from its difficult to recommend players with such a tight criteria of owned by less than 5% of fantasy premier league managers.  However this is a guy who scored over 30 goals in Holland last year and now has a run of fixtures that I believe are the 2nd best of any team over the next 6 fantasy premier league games starting with Sunderland at home.  Only a goal and an assist in the opening 7 game weeks which has seen him left out and started on the bench.  However underlying shooting stats have been good so there is hope that it will come right as he’s definitely had the chances.  if youre going to take a punt then home to Sunderland is a good time to do so
Man City

Negredo
£9.3 (4.1%)
For such a quality player to have such low ownership shows the rotation and gametime issues that City strikers have.  However he and Aguero are definitely ahead of Dzeko and Jovetic in the pecking order and the situation is helped by Pellegrini continuing to play 2 strikers with nominally Negredo as the most advanced.  This is showed that he has started the last 4 games scoring a goal and 2 assists and even when not starting has scored in 2 of his 3 games as sub.  Like Silva maybe best to wait until after playing West Ham and Chelsea away but he really has shown that even with rotation he can return.
Chelsea

Eto’o
£8.7 (0.8%)

Struggled for my 3rd one do I’ve gone for Eto’o as there wasn’t anyone else.   Really has a load of gametime issues with 3 strikers for one position not helped by Torres and Ba having good last performances.  However he has the quality just needs some adjustment to the premier league.  He has also had loads of chances but just hasn’t finished.  With Torres injured this week has to have some chance of starting against Cardiff which could give immediate results and an upturn in his fortunes

That’s it hope it gave you some ideas
