fantasy premier league team selection – FFGeek Team 2nd draft

Fantasy Premier League

I thought it was about time for a fantasy premier league team selection article and putting forward the FFGeek 2nd draft team.  It’s still very early days so there’s bound to be changes but it should give you some food for thought

So firstly here’s the team.  I’ll go through the transfers from the first draft in the narrative below.

Overall team structure

So I’ve gone for 2 home and away rotating GKs.  I’ve then gone for 2 premium defenders with a cheap 3 way rotating defence for the 3rd spot as I anticipate playing 3-4-3.  Then it’s 3 proper midfielders with a cheap 4th plus a £4.5m bench warmer.  Up front it’s 2 premium attackers plus a cheap 3rd attacker.

The transfers:

So here’s the transfers from the first draft:

Ivanovic out Otamendi in

Souare out Lenihan in

Fischer out Puncheon in

Sturridge  out Ibrahimovic in

Fletcher out Hojberg in

Cathcart out Friend in

So here’s some comment on the transfers:

With the fixtures suiting Man City better then Chelsea I’ve gone for Otamendi over Ivanovic for my 2nd premium defender.

Soaure seems to be the invisible man as far as Palace’s pre-season is concerned so he’s the makeweight out to fit Ibrahimovic in.  Lenihan is very much a watchout as a replacement for the injured Odubajo although it is possible that Elmohamady could play RB

Fischer out for Puncheon is a reaction to 2 things.  Firstly with Ibrahimovic in I feel like I’m getting pretty heavily weighted with new players to the premier league.  Puncheon has good fixtures, and set piece potential if he can get a place in the side.  That needs serious watching although he has started tonight against Colchester and scored.

Sturridge out is a function of fixtures but also I anticipate that Ibrahimovic will be hugely owned and a captain favourite when Aguero plays away.  I’m not wild about 2 players from one team, both new to the league with a new manager but I’m too big a fan of Mkhitaryan to let him go so I’m sticking with it.  At least Man Utd have good fixtures.

Fletcher out Hojberg in is just a bit of a punt for someone who has potential at the £4.5m price.  Could just easily be back to Fletcher of WBA or Capoue of Watford

Cathcart out Friend in is for the 3 way rotation and I think Middlesboro will be a good defensive team.

If you’re wondering why no Arsenal player then it seems that Ozil, Koscielny, Ramsey and Giroud will all be late back.  Mertesacker appears injured as well.  This does however give the prospect of Gabriel as a £5.0m Arsenal defender.

There’s also no Liverpool player.  The fixtures aren’t great but it’s possible I could swap Eriksen for Firmino.

There’s also no Payet.  I’m a huge fan but I’m just not sure he will be starting after the final of the Euro’s and the physical and emotional energy lost in that.

There’s still alot of potential to change Austin.  I need to be certain he will start.  Other wise the options are Callum Wilson of Bournemouth, Deeney of Watford, Defoe of Sunderland, Rondon/Berahino of WBA, Gray of Burnley, Hernandez of Hull and Negredo of Middlesboro.

Similar for Puncheon.  The alternative options are Bojan of Stoke, Deulofeu/Lennon of Everton, Townsend of Palace, Ibe/Gradel of Bournemouth, Khazri of Sunderland, Snodgrass/Diame of Hull, Fischer of Middlesboro and Feghouli of West Ham.

I will be doing an article on these players

Thats it hope you found it interesting
