Here’s my fantasy premier league team selection GW11 article with the FFGeek team for GW11. We look at last week, the transfer thoughts, lineup dilemmas and the captain choice

Gameweek 10

I went into GW10 in detail in my early thoughts article so I won’t go into it too much here.

GW10 points: 73 (average 58) Total points 651, Gameweek rank 1,072k, Overall Rank: 29k, green arrow 5k, Team Value: £102.8m

Here’s the points:

As I said in the early thoughts article, if I look at my basic metrics for a gameweek then I’m just about ok.  A gameweek rank just about 1 million.  4 returners which is the minimum you’d hope for but 3 were double figures to compensate.  Lastly a small green arrow to 29k.  So definitely ok.

The week was saved for me by Foster and Fraser.  The battle ground against the other popular players I don’t have of Maddison and Richarlison went my way and meant the blank of Lacazette wasn’t an issue.  The popular player I don’t own in Wilson has his points neutralised by Fraser in my team as few managers own both.  The captain pick was all Salah so that wasn’t a rank risk situation.

Monitor list

So last week I introduced my team planning schedule which helps me plan my transfers ahead. I think that in some ways it’s wishful thinking as often you end up doing reactive transfers to injuries or someone losing their starting place so it is a bit aspirational but worth doing still.

The table is self explanatory but here are the definitions anyway

GW11 odds CS*/ATGS A bookies odds for clean sheets or anytime goal scoring. I’ve ignored the 2 midfield bench warmers

Pot Exit Point. Then I’ve tried to mark in a potential exit point for a player generally based on fixtures and match it up with someone incoming. If I say unknown it’s because I don’t have anyone yet. If it says ASAP on exit point then it’s as soon as an opportunity arises. If it says none, I have no current plans on removing them

The chart includes the transfers I’m planning today which are Bennett out for Mendy and Arnautovic in for Lacazette

I went into detail on each player in the early thoughts article so I won’t again but above shows you what I’m currently thinking about my team.

I have been thinking all week about a -4 for Laporte for Wan Bissaka for the City double defence as I have just the amount of cash needed but I decided to leave it.  City have Man Utd next week and it’s hard to imagine there won’t be goals in that game so I can leave it until GW13.

I’m still unsure what to do about Mitrovic and what if anything to do with Fraser.

Transfer options

Arnautovic was always coming in.  I have debated losing Mitrovic instead of Lacazette but I can’t when he plays Huddersfield next even though there’s a decent chance I’ll be buying Lacazette back GW16 when they have 3 excellent fixtures.  Before that they have some tricky fixtures so I decided to leave it.

Mendy was always coming in for Bennett.  He had a bit of a shocker v Spurs but with Delph and Zinchenko playing midweek and Otamendi potentially injured it’s hard to see him not playing LB.  Famous last Robertson words.

So the transfer is Bennett out Mendy in and Lacazette out Arnautovic in.

Lineup

I think both Wolves and Liverpool can get clean sheets in their matches, so the only issue was the bench order of Hojbjerg vs Wan-Bissaka and if Alexander Arnold is rotated then it will be a relevant pick.  Again I’m going to go for Wan Bissaka.  Readers will know I’m a believer in the Palace defence (even though I’m thinking of selling him!).  Last week they kept Arsenal to 7 shots and an a xG conceded of 0.82.  They drew 2-2 thanks to a Xhaka wonder strike and a hand ball set piece.  It’s less braver pick as Hojbjerg is away to Man City.  Hard to believe Hojbjerg won’t end up with a blank less a YC so I’m going to gamble and put Wan Bissaka first.

Captain choice

I haven’t done a captain article yet and won’t until the morning but I imagine in Hazard’s potential limited gametime that Aguero will boss the poll. He is also the logical choice so he’s my likely captain.  I’ve gone for Salah as the vice just in case Hazard is a sub and he doesn’t come on if Chelsea are comfortable.

If you haven’t done so please vote in the captain poll to make the article viable. Especially needed again this week as I’ve held off for the EFL Cup matches and news on Hazard today so everyone votes with full information on who they are choosing.

In that article there’s also a transfer poll which I find interesting to see what other managers are doing. Vote in that as well if you could

The team

Here’s the lineup then:
