fantasy premier league team selection GW17 – the FFGeek team for GW17
Gameweek 16
I went into GW16 in detail in my early thoughts on the FFGeek team article so I won’t go into it too much here.
GW16 points: 49 -8 (average 55) Total points 964, Gameweek rank 3,619k, Overall Rank: 95k, red arrow 46k, Team Value: £102.8m
Here’s the points:
A terrible gameweek with only the Foster penalty save and the Richarlison goal limiting what could have been an even worse week.
Using my metrics, 5 returning players is above the minimum target of 4. However without a double figure returner it can mean nothing and a 3.6 million gameweek is way off the 1 million you should be looking for.
The Gameweek really was about Salah though and the decision to sell him which went horribly wrong. I had banked on Sterling to match him over a 6 or so gameweek period to facilitate the Aubameyang transfer but that certainly didn’t start well as Chelsea go from the joke defence v Spurs and Wolves to world beaters.
Speaking of joke defences this is also the 2nd time that the Eddie Howe defence cost me dearly with Lukaku some time back getting 4 or so when he was playing for Everton. I really should have remembered that before the transfer.
The team planner schedule
1 transfer and £0.0m in the bank.
So here’s my team planner which I’ve taken from my early FFGeek early team article.
Team transfer thoughts
1 transfer and £0.0m in the bank.
So I had started the week thinking I would carrying over a free transfer for this week.
However the injury to Alexander Arnold has changed things and it seems like he will miss GW17 and I’ve also seen some stuff saying at least 2 weeks.
So I decided to bite the bullet and transfer him out.
My incoming transfer is Lovren given that Matip and Gomez both seem to be injured for the 6 week mark so seemingly Lovren has to play. He’s a bit of a perpetual injury risk himself but he was at least on the bench for the UCL match so seemingly there was nothing wrong with him that night.
I never really considered anyone else given that background.
I have a few possible points to get Salah back if it gets too unbearable.
So the transfer is Alexander Arnold out Lovren in
Lineup issues
Fraser vs Wan Bissaka vs Richarlison is the question. I’m going to put Wan Bissaka in but I can’t decide between Richarlison and Fraser. I’ve put Richarlison in for the moment but only because the downside is worse if he does score than if Fraser does. However I probably very marginally think there’s more points for Fraser potentially than Richarlison although the bookies favour Richarlison to score more although Fraser is an assister so how relevant that is. Wilson likely to be out doesn’t help Frasers case either. Make sense?
I’m leaving Ings on the bench as I can see him as sub still coming back from injury.
As a sideline it was a tad worrying to see Sterling, Sane and Laporte all start in the UCL this week. If I’m right Pep needed a point to finish top but that’s going to make for nervous refreshing for the City team sheet. I keep thinking that one day I’ll see all 3 City players I have on the bench. I just hope this isn’t it.
Alot of template battles for me. The main one being Sterling vs Salah but also Laporte vs Alonso and Kolasinac vs the West Ham defence.
Captain thoughts
Kane for me. You can see my captain analysis article if you want to know more
The team
Here it is
If I change the lineup I’ll tweet it. It will be the decision between Richarlison and Fraser that I’ll be debating.
