Gameweek 1 recap

GW1 points: 84 (average 65) Total points 84, Gameweek rank 669k, Overall Rank: 669k, arrow n/a, Team Value: £100.0m

If you’re new to the site my last 3 seasons overall ranks are 36k, 17k and 21k.  All top 0.5% of teams.

So I’ve already talked about my GW1 rank in detail in my early thoughts article so I won’t repeat it here.

In essence though 7 returners and a gameweek rank under 1 million I would normally be happy with.  So it’s ok even if it sounds pretty poor.

Gameweek 2

transfer thoughts

I’ve never been really desperate to make any transfers before GW2 and I didn’t suffer any injuries which would have forced my hand so I’ve decided to carry over my free transfer to give me more flexibility for GW3.  There are definitely players like Ings, Perez and Pope which have tricky fixtures but that’s something I’ll put up with this week.

Martial was tempting but that would have meant trading Sigurdsson who has a good fixture at home to Watford for a tougher one that Martial has at Wolves so I’m leaving that for the moment.

So I’m carrying over a free transfer.

Lineup issues

The only issues were whether to bench either Ings or Perez for Rico.  If I look at it in terms of odds.  Ings is £3.50 to score v Liverpool.  Rico is £3.80 for the Clean Sheet v Villa and Perez £4.60 to score v Chelsea.  That would mean benching Perez.  Unfortunately given how the Chelsea defence looked v Man Utd and the fact they played 120 minutes mid week that rules that out for me.  Kante will be back which will help but still….

That left it between Ings and Rico and I’ve marginally gone for Ings.  If Pukki can score at Anfield then surely there’s some chance Ings can and if I’m trusting in the Eddie Howe defence then there’s something seriously wrong.  6 years he’s been in charge and it’s still terrible.  Steve Cool is still there?

So Rico is benched instead

Captain Choice

You may have seen my captain article where I came down on Salah as the choice and I’m sticking with that.

The Team
