Introduction

Firstly if you’re new to the site my last 4 seasons overall ranks are 17k, 36k, 17k and 21k.

GW31 review

GW31 points 61 on Wildcard (FPL average 41) Total points 2,012, Overall Rank: 32k, green arrow 8k.  Team Value: £102.9m plus £0.1m ITB

I still have my triple captain chip available

Here’s the points:

In short the gameweek saw an 8k green arrow on the back of my wildcard to 32k overall rank.

I go into detail about the gameweek just gone in my early team thoughts article so I won’t go into it here but overall I was glad for a green arrow after my first wildcard was a rather thumping red

transfer thoughts

1 free transfers and £0.1m in the bank

I’m sure you know that Spurs have 2 games in DGW32 and then a blank in GW33

I’ve pretty much been thinking that I will carry over the free transfer this week which after a wildcard is something that you think you should be able to do.

I do believe that a double gameweek is a time to roll the dice as football is unpredictable and with a player having 2 games in a gameweek you never know what can happen. That thought process has made me think long and hard about putting Reguilon in the team for Castagne. Martinez to Lloris I can’t afford but a GK is also someone who can spring a surprise in a double gameweek.

However I want to try and keep 2 transfers in the hope that I can maximise the potential for what seems like will be doubles and blanks around GW35/36 and carrying over the free transfer this week is the start of that.

I have said I may try and move Son out in GW33 but that I had forgotten they were playing Sheffield Utd in GW34. I dislike taking players out before a good fixture so that may go on the back burner.

I have 3 players with blanks in GW33 being Stones, Son and Kane. Hopefully I can repair any GW33 injuries with 1 free transfer in order to put out a full 11 and at the same time continue holding 2 frees

The 2nd reason I haven’t done the Reguilon transfer is that Leicester have such good fixtures that it feels like Reguilon may not be worth that roll of the dice and keeping 2 free transfers is the biggest prize for what could be a double 35 and a blank 36

So I think that’s a fairly long winded way of saying that I’m carrying over the free transfer

Lineup issues

I generally decide my lineup on Bookies odds and more recently have looked at Joes planner which has a good bench picking history

So irrespective of that, I’m committed to the front 7 with Vydra on the bench last against Man Utd.

GK I’m going with Martinez rather than Forster irrespective of the bookies odds due to Martinez’s save point potential

That means it’s the defensive lineup that is the question and here the bookies have Holding and Phillips on the bench in that order as does Joe’s planner.

As you can see it also has the same bench order for the defenders.

Stones obviously has a big rotation risk given that they have the FA Cup semi and the EFL final either side of the midweek GW32 match. However he’s never come on as sub this season so if that’s the case the decision is that Stones should start wih history telling me he won’t come on for a pesky 1 pointer.

However I’m going to break protocol and put Holding in the lineup. I’ve been made to pay everytime I do this and my only reasoning is gut feel but I’m going to do it anyway

So the bench will be Stones, Phillips and Vydra.

As an aside I hate the fact that Phillips won’t be covering at least Alexander Arnolds clean sheet and he’s free to get a 15 pointer without at least 6 been covered but I’m just going to have to wear it

Captain Choice

With Kane having a double gameweek there’s no choice to be made and he gets the captain armband.

The FFGeek captain poll has him at an 86% captain favourite. Also another poll pretty much says that everyone who has a triple captain chip left will be using it on Kane rather than holding it for further gameweeks

I had always thought I was going to triple captain Kane this week but now I’m definitely doing it

Here’s the team

Remember carrying over the free transfer. Triple Captain activated. Good luck!
