Here’s the points:

Sp pretty close to one of those rank halving gameweeks which come when you least expect it which I talked about this week on the FFGeek FPL Podcast

Funny how luck is sometimes with you. I got Lingard a little back on the wildcard as Shaw was an injury doubt so I had cash to spend suddenly.

I got Castagne by default as I thought the cheaper Fofana could lose his place if Rodgers went to a back 4 and also didn’t have enough cash for Pereira. I was pretty nonplussed on Castagne’s attacking numbers to be honest. However he was unreal vs WBA and looked like Marcos Alonso has suddenly taken over his body

Even breaking my normal rules of defence by bookies odds by picking Holding over Stones last gameweek worked out as Stones got sent off for -2.

So a lucky gameweek.

Transfer thoughts

2 free transfers and £0.1m in the bank

My week has been focused on trying to come up with some cunning plan to get in Alexander Arnold. However I would have had to sell Kane, Son or Fernandes to do so and none appealed to me.

Kane it seems to me won’t play in the EFL Cup final but nothing has been said definitely and nothing spoke about for GW32. He could easily be a captain favourite for GW34 so for now I’m holding.

I can’t do what seems a popular switch to Vardy as that doesn’t get me Alexander Arnold. It seems like Calvert Lewin is fit but that doesn’t seem a desperate need for that transfer when they are playing Arsenal. So I’m going to hold Kane and Son.

That takes me to my transfer options for this gameweek in the absence of any plan for Alexander Arnold.

I have Stones who is suspended for 2 PL games and Nat Phillips who looks like he won’t be fit for v Newcastle.

The logical transfer for Stones for me is Veltman of Brighton as again they are playing Sheffield Utd. His GW36 fixture isn’t great though (the relevance of which you’ll see later on in this article) but I’m doing this for the here and now.

I could do a transfer for Phillips as he is injured but he is the logical person to step aside for Alexander Arnold when I can eventually get him.

So just the 1 transfer used which will give me a full playing 11 this week although there’s no leeway for the rotation for the likes of Rudiger or Jota

I’m not using both transfers as I’m hoping to carry over 2 from a potential double GW35 to a potential Blank GW36 which I talk about more below

Transfer is Stones out and Veltman in

Lineup issues

The only question is whether I put Phillips in the lineup in case of a medical miracle and he does play or whether I start Vydra and put him on the bench.

It’s likely to be irrelevant as Phillips is injured or if someone else is rotated. I’ve put Phillips in but assumed Vydra will come on as an autosub if everyone else plays

Captain

Salah is a pretty big leader in the FFGeek Captain Poll and in the other main FPL poll so I’m going with him. Vice is tricky between Iheanacho and Fernandes but I’ve gone for Fernandes by virtue of a mental toin coss

How does that leave me for a potential DGW35 and a Blank GW36

This would be the result of fixtures being moved around to accomodate fans for the last 2 gameweeks and for Villa v Everton plus Palace v Southampton to be accomodated.

It’s not guaranteed. As a point of reference here’s the attacking players fixture ease schedule

fantasy premier league tips GW33

Teams that have a DGW35 and no blank GW36

Aston Villa, Everton, Palace, Southampton

I have Martinez and Forster

Teams that have a DGW35 but a Blank GW36

Arsenal, Leicester, Man Utd and Chelsea

I have Holding, Iheanacho, Castagne, Fernandes and Rudiger

That’s 2 too many to field a full team in BGW36 although you could take the view that the doubles and blanks for the most part offsett one another so it’s pretty irrelevant.

Teams without a double or a blank

The Rest

I have Salah, Phillips, Jota, Vydra, Lingard, Veltman, Kane and Son

Here’s the team lineup for GW33
