Introduction

Firstly if you’re new to the site my last 4 seasons overall ranks are 17k, 36k, 17k and 21k.

GW34 review

GW34 points 36 (FPL average 39) Total points 2,197, Overall Rank: 16k, red arrow 2k.  Team Value: £103.9m

I’ve now used all my chips

Here’s the points:

A 2k red arrow to 16k overall rank after waht was my lowest gameweek rank of 4.8m of the season.

Anyway at least the overall rank damage wasn’t too bad

Having talked about it in my early thoughts on the FFGeek team article I won’t talk about it further. I also talked about my team when the Man Utd v Liverpool postponement came through

How my team is stacked up for Triple 35 and Blank 36

For GW35 before any transfers I have Fernandes for a triple from category 1 above and 8 from category 2 and 3 players for a double gameweek making 9 in total.

For GW36 before any transfers I have 9 players in category 2 and 4 who have a fixture in GW36.

Transfer thoughts

2 free transfers and £0.1m in the bank

I think you see this gameweek as either an opportunity to gain rank or places in your mini league or one that could be a complete ranking disaster. I feel like this gameweek could be one of the most volatile with the most variance potential out of any that I can remember. I could feel like I could end up with 40 points or 120 points or anything in between.

I feel like I want to just turn off my phone and see the damage after Thursday rather than have it delivered to me incrementally each day.

I hate to be a pessimist but when I feel like I’ve worked so hard to get to 16k OR over 25 gameweeks since I was 2 million OR at GW10 then to have it potentially damaged significantly is hard to take.

Sorry for the glass so empty attitude to this!

Man Utd are at the source of this. They have a triple gameweek but a blank in GW36. Realistically how many players will start all 3 and what are the chances of you getting the correct one in the team.

If that is the case then they are worse than say Everton and Liverpool players who will have 3 games between 35 and 36 and given the time difference more likely to play.

Even a Spurs player will play 2 games over 35 and 36. This is especially relavant if having a United player will lead you to a starting 11 deficit in GW36. Less if your free transfer makes it to 11 starters

If I had 2 Man Utd players this would be a far easier decision but only having 1 doesn’t feel right. Football is not especially predictable, anything could happen and if you don’t roll the dice you have no chance of getting any winnings.

For me the situation is more straightforward. If I want Alexander Arnold then Son and Lingard are my only options. Lingard would give me Tyler Roberts, Son would give me Greenwood or if I want to go the blank 36 cover route, Sigurdsson or El Ghazi, both of who are penalty takers and have an additional fixture in GW36

Unfortunately I can’t shake off the fact that not having 2 Man Utd players just doesn’t seem right even if I can logic myself out of it so I’m going to roll the dice and see what happens.

The only defender who I can sell to afford Alexander Arnold is Castagne. It seems he may return to LB anyway as Ricardo is nearing fitness. There he has been less effective.

This will give me £0.1m to spare if I want to go Iheanacho to Antonio next week although I’ve yet to decide on that

So the transfers are:

Son and Castagne out Greenwood and Alexander Arnold in

That leaves me with for GW35:

2 triple gameweekers – Fernandes and Greenwood

8 double gameweekers – Martinez, Holgate, Salah, Jota, Holding, Rudiger, Alexander-Arnold and Iheanacho

For GW36

9 players with a fixture – Martinez, Holgate, Salah, Jota, Alexander-Arnold, Veltman, Lingard, Kane and Vydra

Plus 1 free transfer = 10

Captain choice

No choice here. I’ll be following the FFGeek Captain Poll which has Fernandes miles ahead of anyone else. Vice would be Salah

Lineup issues

My only lineup issue is whether to go for Holding over Lingard. I can’t see them keeping a clean sheet against Chelsea so for me It’s Holding who goes to the bench

Here’s the team then
