Introduction

Firstly if you’re new to the site my last 4 seasons overall ranks are 17k, 36k, 17k and 21k.

GW36 review

GW36 points 44-4 (FPL average 38) Total points 2,366 , Overall Rank: 15k, red arrow 4k.  Team Value: £103.2m

I’ve now used all my chips

Here’s the points:

Fantasy Premier League Team Selection GW37

So a very disappointing gameweek. 3 returning players and a 4k rank drop to 15k overall. It had some of the foundations for a good week with the captain choice being ok and the players who were a threat to my rank in Son, Dallas, Digne and Bamford not doing much. That’s what really made it disappointing as in terms of avoidance I couldn’t have hoped for much more.

However it seemed most managers had someone who added to their score to get it into at least the 50s.

The transfer of Calvert-Lewin definitely didn’t work out as I hoped and Bissouma got his expected yellow card although in really totally unnecessary circumstances.

Transfer thoughts

1 free transfer and £0.1m in the bank

Original plan

If you read my team selection article last week you’d know I had left money in the bank to do Antonio in for Vydra.

The Jota injury has derailed that transfer and I need to think about alternatives.

It’s come down to 1 of 2 transfers for me. Either Raphinha or Greenwood.

Raphinha

Has had 1 start since coming back from injury and its 1 goal and 3 assists in the last 7 (1 as a sub) games spread over 10 gameweeks.

There’s no rotation question unless he’s been treated carefully after the injury. Of those 7 games 4 were very good appearances and he’s averaged roughly 0.20 xG and 0.3 xA per game.

Leeds play Southampton and WBA which are great fixtures. Bielsa it seems will not tolerate anything other than full committment for the end of the campaign

Putting Raphinha in would give me the option to put Antonio in for Vydra either through a -4 or in GW38 although

Greenwood

In the last 10 gameweeks he’s played 9 games 3 of which were as a sub and scored 6 goals and 1 assist. His average xG and xA per game if you exclude the 16 mins v Man City are 0.45 and 0.15. He’s produced good stats either as a CF or as an RAM.

So Greenwood has the edge I would say over Raphinha in the stats department. He does have gametime risk. This quote from OGS isn’t helpful either

“I’m hoping to get Anthony [Martial] and Dan [James] back involved in this game which is a very good boost for us. Maybe they can even start against Wolves and then maybe if they’re sensational? It’s hard to leave players out if they really perform at their highest level.”

So he could easily be benched in either game. Man Utd have nothing to play for . They have qualified for the UCL next season and only need to beat Fulham to secure 2nd if that’s a priority.

Conversely, they have the Europa League final on the Wednesday after GW38 so anything could happen in that GW38 selection

Greenwood ‘s next 2 games are excellent against Fulham and Wolves. I also have Fernandes who could also be rotated so Greenwood would be upping my Man Utd eggs in the basket as it were

So what’s the verdict?

So I guess you would say that Greenwood has the potential for more upside but has more gametime risk and put’s more eggs in the Man Utd basket where their PL incentive is questionable.

Raphinha also gives me more flexibility in GW38 although I’m thinking Fernandes to Mane anyway assuming Liverpool need to win for a top 4 place and Man Utd rest enmasse for the Europa League final

At times like this you just have to make a decision and hope that you do get at least 50% right

So the transfer is Jota out Greenwood in

Lineup issues

None here. Vydra goes to the bench. I have my doubts that Holgate will play but it’s a good fixture so I’ll Put him in. I think Rudiger will play given the must win game for Chelsea against Leicester and I do think Chelsea can keep a clean sheet against anyone.

Again I’m jusy hoping to keep below 20k and a red arrow isn’t that bad.

Captain Choice

I’m going with the FFGeek Captain Poll has Salah miles ahead so I’m going for him with Kane vice. Interestingly the other poll I use has both Salah and Fernandes neck and Neck

Here’s the lineup

Good luck everyone!
