Transfer thoughts

1 free transfer and £0.0m in the bank. I’ve used all my chips

My whole focus has been on whether I do the Son to Pogba transfer or not.  I can’t even countenance selling Jota, Mane or Sterling and somehow getting to transfer Stephens for Pogba just isn’t feasible.

I’ve mulled and mulled and really can’t decide whether to do it or not.  Neither are in great form but both can score big and play against teams that can conceded big.  Add in my supposed  rule that I never sell an attacking player before they play the Eddie Howe non defence and it really is a dilemma.

I could have -4 to get to Rashford with Vertonghen and Gray but with Rashford to be assessed for his shoulder injury then that’s a non starter.

In the end I did the Son out and Pogba in transfer.  I did a million different ways of looking at it but as ever none gives you the conclusive answer you want.  You’ve just got to play the 50/50 and hope for the best

So Son out Pogba in

Captain thoughts

You can see my detailed captain analysis article if you haven’t already.

I’m going to captain Aguero.

Lineup issues

Fairly straightforward this week.  I kept Vertonghen in over Gray despite the fact that he’s not expected to play.  I’ve gone for Ryan over Foster although it’s the lesser of 2 evils.

The team

Here’s the team lineup then:

  1. Thinking pogba in for Erikson. Should I also do Shaw in for vertonghen -4. I’m 6 points behind the leader of my mini league.

  2. Dave

Just made the same transfer and went Man City, Liverpool, Wolves this week and then flip Wolves for Southampton next week for my 3 defenders over the next 2 weeks.

FFGeek – I have read your website for the past 5 years and given the link to about 100 people and to my shame have never commented before. Sorry for taking so much advice and never giving any back!

  3. I have had the same headache with Son and Pogba. In the end I went Duffy to Digne instead because I did not want to play Gray or Duffy and the Everton fixture at home to Burnley looks good at least to me since Burnley are safe and Everton still playing for Euro League and in a great run of form.

  4. I already had Pogba and Son so decided to roll the dice with Rashford in for Gray. I had 2FT and needed cash for the transfer but was happy enough with the rest of the team… so I decided to transfer Eriksen out for Martial and put Martial as first sub. My thinking is that if Rashford is out then surely Martial starts up front with Lukaku also injured. Sanchez up front on his own seems unlikely. I am kind of hoping this happens as nobody has Martial.

Best of luck this week Geek.

  5. Son out Pogba in was a good move, but not in the way you anticipated!
One problem you have now is 6 players facing Man C or Liverpool next week and you can only bench 4 of them and sob one more without a hit.
I have 5 such players and was planning to upgrade one of them (probably Dunk to Love) but Son has ruined that. The decision I now need to make is who to replace him with, Pogba is the obvious choice but he is so out of form I have pencilled in Fraser, that leaves me 3.5m ITB and wondering whether an improvement is worth a 4 point hit (if Firmino is fit I might be tempted by Jimanez to Firmino, don’t think it is worth it for someone like Vardy or Higuain)
