fantasy premier league team selection GW4 – the FFGeek team

Fantasy Premier League, ffgeek teams

Here’s my fantasy premier league team selection GW4 article where after days of mulling it over I’ve finally decided on the transfers to make.

Firstly if you’re new to the site my last 3 seasons overall ranks are 36k, 17k and 21k

GW3 review

I went into alot of detail in my early thoughts on the FFGeek team article about GW3 so I won’t repeat that. Here’s the points and the basic stats:

GW3 points: 66 (FPL average 44) Total points 196, Gameweek rank 325k, Overall Rank: 131k, green arrow 450k, Team Value: £100.3m

So a score of 66, 131k OR and a big green arrow of 450k are pretty pleasing

Transfers

I had a number of options which were, in simple terms either Martial to D Silva or Anderson or a points hit for De Bruyne or Haller in.

In the end I decided a points hit for De Bruyne just because the next 2 fixtures of Brighton and Norwich are just ridiculous and the -4 is worth it from the protection point of view as I imagine he will be a template player next week.

I do have reservations about De Bruyne.  He’s expensive for someone who I won’t captain and who doesn’t score goals that much.  If someone told me D Silva would match De Bruyne for minutes over those 2 games I would have taken him for the price difference but I’m just too worried about Silvas minutes.

I had £2m to make up and unless I unseated the Liverpool defenders realistically Sigurdsson was the only route to fund the extra.  That gave me £5.8m.  The only serious options I thought about were  Ceballos, Noble purely for pens or Cantwell.

In the end I went for the extra cash that Cantwell generates although it does give me an issue when I have 2 Norwich players vs Man City next week.  I will have £1.1m in the bank that I need to generate for another player who can either play or be part of  a rotation with Cantwell and Dendoncker.  That will either be by upgrading Rico or Greenwood.  That will give me options of 5-3-2, 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 depending on the upgrade.  That rotation isn’t ideal by any stretch but it will have to do for the moment.

So in summary the transfers were:

Martial and Sigurdsson out and De Bruyne and Cantwell in for a -4 point deduction.

Captain

Sterling easy enough choice

Lineup

I’ve played Cantwell and I’ve put Greenwood as first reserve as I guess there’s a chance he gets decent minutes with Martial out and Dendoncker being a doubt and away to Everton.
