Introduction

This is part 4 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It won’t cover transfers in real time either. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.  The teams are shown as their “final-ish” teams so they could change.  Where they have twitter accounts I have shown this and they may update them there or on our Slack Channel which is part of our subscription Patreon site but this is not guaranteed

I was looking to upgrade Bissouma to Soucek this week. Not only to add another player with a double in GW19, but also because of the immediate fixture against Brighton who are vulnerable to concede from set pieces.

But then a double injury blow in defence put paid to that plan. I’ve run out of patience with Tariq Lamptey; he is too injury prone and can’t be trusted to play for extended periods. Meanwhile, despite having a reasonable amount of money tied up in him, I’m not prepared to wait for Chilwell to recover.

So instead I’m taking a hit to finally sort out my defence and with the longer-term in mind. Firstly, back comes Robertson, whom I have regretted selling ever since ditching him a couple of gameweeks ago. For my second transfer, my budget only allows me to go as far as Charlie Taylor. However, I’m comfortable with this as I really like Burnley’s chances of a clean sheet in GWs 16 and 17, while he adds to my collection of GW19 doubles.

Captain this week will certainly be Salah.

Good luck to all you and Merry Christmas everybody!

Transfer summary:  Chilwell out Robertson in Lamptey out Charlie Taylor in

Avishek Majumdar

Avishek’s last 3 seasons are 13k, 45k and 64k

So another green arrow to gain back lost grounds after GW 12, although it still wasn’t one of those “rank halving” GWs in Geek’s words even with 7 returning players and a captaincy conversion. Talking of captaincy, I was lucky enough to get a haul out of 33 min of Salah as I wasn’t aware of the rumours of his benching and had I known I would’ve switched it to Bruno like most others. In the end there wasn’t much between them but have to admit I got lucky there.

Moving on to GW 15, looking at my team I was fairly certain of carrying over a free transfer to bring in Son for Grealish in GW 16. However the Chilwell injury and a no bench meant I can’t afford to carry over and may have to either take a hit or sacrifice KDB in GW 16 to make room for Son. But I will leave that decision till then and rather focus on a Chilwell replacement keeping one eye on the doubles.
As of now I’ve shortlisted 3 candidates as below:

Matip: Reasonable price, clean sheet potential and a double.
Dallas: Goal threat but without clean sheet potential, also decent fixtures in the double.
Zouma: Like for like replacement for Chilwell.

Dallas’ price allows me to do Grealish to Son in GW 16 for free which is a tempting route, but if KDB fails again vs Newcastle along with the fact that Villa has a potential to get a DGW, Grealish in spite of those tough fixtures might be difficult to sell. But getting Dallas at least allows me to have a choice so that’s why I am leaning towards him as of now. I will take a final call close to the deadline.

Captaincy on Salah again which was a no-brainer.

Lastly, i would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year in advance! Stay safe.

Transfer summary:  likely Chilwell out for Dallas in
