Fantasy premier league team tips GW19 – FFGeek contributors show their GW19 teams part 2

Here’s part 2 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

You can see our part 1 contributors article here.

Gameweek 18 review:

It was another great gameweek for me, taking me up to just 1 point outside the top 1000. I had some big returns from 3 of my 4 big hitters: Kane scored 15, Aubameyang 13 (well 26) and Salah 12. The other highly owned big hitters Sterling, Sane and Hazard all blanked so I think that really helped me get that good green arrow as only 1% of all FPL managers own Kane, Salah and Aubameyang. Plus, I stuck with my instincts and went with Aubameyang as captain rather than going with a City asset like the polls suggested so that really has helped me this week. Two other players also returned, Ings scored me 8 and Martial 7 so I’m glad I kept faith with these two as both were players I’ve considered selling over the last few weeks.

6 of my players blanked: Fabianski, Balbuena, Targett, Luiz, Snodgrass and Sane. Balbuena picked up a knock so I’ll be monitoring that but hopefully the injury isn’t serious. Targett was a punt, probably should have gone Lovren but I thought I’d go with a bit of a differential, he’ll be gone within the next 2 weeks. Otherwise, the other 4 are fine for now.

Transfers:

I’ve come up with a 4 gameweek transfer plan, which barring any serious injuries, I’ll be sticking to. GW19: Targett > Alexander-Arnold GW20: Kenedy > Hojbjerg (to save 0.5m) GW21: Patricio > Button (to save 0.5m and as Ryan is going to the Asian Cup) GW22: Fabianski > Alisson Liverpool have the best defence in the league and from gameweek 22 they only have three top 6 games (in weeks 27, 32 and 34) and two of those are at home and the other against United so for those reasons I think Alisson is the perfect keeper to have for the rest of the season from gameweek 22. Hojbjerg and Button are just enablers and will likely be bench players most weeks, with Button only temporarily playing while Ryan is at the Asian Cup.

Bench Decisions:

Bench picks this week were quite tough to be honest. Near enough all my players have great fixtures this week bar Kenedy who I’ve put as my third choice sub. I’ve decided to bench Balbuena due to him potentially not starting with him picking up a knock so he’s my second choice sub. I’ve gone with Patricio over Fabianski this week as Southampton look good going forward under Hassenhuttl so I expect Southampton to score but I think Fulham may not against Wolves. The difficulty for me this week was my third sub. My choice was to put either Luiz away at Watford, Wan-Bissaka home versus Cardiff or Doherty away at Fulham. I think Wan-Bissaka will likely keep a clean sheet as in basically every comparable fixture this season he’s kept a clean sheet so I’ve played him. Luiz is my Alonso cover therefore I feel it’s sensible to play him as well. Hence, I’ve decided to bench Doherty this week and not risk the double Wolves defence. Though, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him be subbed into my side as I’d expect some rotation to occur on Boxing Day with these fixtures all being so close together.

Captain:

I’ve gone with Kane this week as I think Spurs will comfortably beat Bournemouth as Bournemouth have conceded on average 2.8 goals against the top 6 this season and Spurs look like they’re in a purple patch right now.

The team (but imagine Targett is Alexander-Arnold)

Hi guys,

GW18 review

59 points this week 4 points above the weekly average (GW rank very low 2.3 and moved on to the third round of the cup).

5 returners with 2 double digit Kane and Mo, Kola with an assist. 1 bonus and fantastic attacking performance, Alisson with another CS+ 2 nice bonus points and Richarlison with an assist. Small green arrow from 12k to 11k (I just can’t understand how you can get green arrow with this GW rank, but I am eager to step in again to the top 10k), but of course what made it a bad GW was choosing the wrong Captain as Raheem was very disappointing like all his team. Alonso had a poor miss in the 90th minute when the ball hit the cross bar, I hope he will be able to justify his tag price.

GW19

It’s all about getting United assets (I am glad to finally do it as their fan), so luckily, I have 2 FT, and had 1.3 ITB, so I went for Rashford for Mitrovic (Fulham looks very bad and he just don’t get enough balls into the dangerous area) and the second one was injured Balbuena (I don’t know what I was thinking, they just can’t get CS) to Shaw.   I’m hoping Shaw is nailed in the starting lineup and will have some attacking returns too (anyway this GW , United has the best odds for CS). I had small doubt about who to choose from Doherty and Snodgrass, but I am going with the first, as he has a decent chance to get returns from both sides of the field.

About the armband

It’s straight fight between Kane and Salah, both have 1.50 odds to score, usually you will prefer a midfielder on striker with the same odds, but after reading all news about predicted lineup of Liverpool I can see a big chance Mo will be a sub (like the last time they played a mid-week league game), and only due to this fact I am going with Kane (although Mo had 2 more days to rest, but Liverpool do have a tougher match in Saturday vs good form Arsenal, so I can see him start on the bench)

Good luck all and have a lot of green arrows!

Merry Christmas to all of you from Israel!

Another decent week with a 50k rank advancement. Kane, Aubameyang and the Liverpool defence double up all came good. However, as it was the previous week, I left a double digit scorer, on the bench. I have now left a double digit scorer on the bench four times this year, and that coupled with a number of unlucky captain choices, has really worked to hurt my overall rank. Last week was a perfect case in point – – Brooks had not played the previous week at all, and had some low minute outings previously. He had played the full 90 mid week in the Carabao cup. All signs seemed to point to him either not playing are having a limited outing. Once again, lady luck was not with me.

I have to figure that over time, reasoned decisions will eventually outweigh unlucky ones. Hope I have a better second half in 2019.

I thought about bringing Salah in this week, but when you look at the upcoming Arsenal and City fixtures for Liverpool one has to wonder if he will be rested this week or have a 25 minute cameo. This decision was made easier by the fact that I would probably have captained Kane in any event.

Given that I have now lost some faith in Sterling as a captain, and because it is clear that Salah is back in form as well as with the change of formation, the focal point of their offence, I am envisioning getting in Salah and TAA for Sterling and Robertson next GW. But really, with rotation and the number of injuries plaguing many teams, managing this part of the season is more seat of the pants than future planning.

Happy Holidays to those that are celebrating. Good luck to all and good will toward men.

One more poor week with 52 points and 70K rank drop. I feel the failure of the week was mainly down to the captain blank, since returns across the team were ok with 6 returning players. However, other than Kane, the rest were single returns and none of them did enough to gain bonus points.

Aggressive changes this week with a triple move: in attack I wanted to upgrade one of my weak players of Murphy/Success who seem to have lost their starting places. The players coming in are Son and Mitrovic, both have 2 excellent home fixtures next. The fall guy to make the move possible is Sterling, which I wasn’t great fan of, but annoyingly I was £0.1m short of using Lacazette for these moves. Finally, a third move in defence with Wan-Bissaka coming in. Dunk is suspended this week but I am keeping for now, so the one going is Lascelles, with Newcastle entering a very tough run of fixtures. I am holding on the Success to Mitrovic move until 26th in the hope Mitrovic drops in price.

Playing sensible with captain Kane, although I did have feelings for Martial.

Good luck for GW19 Geekers !

Happy holidays! Here’s the team:

It’s fair to say I will need nothing short of a Christmas miracle to get anywhere close to 100k OR as well as out of the bottom of the league. I spent the build-up to Christmas Eve debating what I should do. I was almost set on switching my Chelsea players for Salah and an affordable defender, but I don’t like giving up on players after a few poor games. Both Alonso and Hazard were unlucky not to score so I expect returns from at least one of them on Boxing day! At the end I decided to axe Mitrovic, with a blank against Newcastle the final straw. Rushford impressed against Cardiff so he comes in as a bit of a differential. I think he offers a bit more than Lingard in terms of consistency.

Captain will be Aubameyang, the guy is on fire!

Enjoy the holidays, and don’t worry, more football is just around the corner!
