Fantasy premier league team tips GW22 – FFGeek contributors show their GW22 teams part 2

Here’s part 2 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

You can see our part 1 contributors article here.  The article includes current 3k OR Jordan Sadlers wildcard

Rob Reid

Rob finished with a rank of 94k last season 22k in 16/17 4k in 15/16 and 7k in 14/15.

GW21 points: 46 (average 54) Total points 1,155 Gameweek rank 4,580k, Overall Rank: 796k, red arrow 128k, Team Value: £103.1m

GW21 review

After the rare joy of 3 consecutive green arrows from GW18-20 it’s been firmly back down to earth with a bump. A second GW rank in the 4 millions in a row and another 128k places gone as I slip to my lowest OR of the season. It was the usual issue of a bad transfers and blanking differentials this week with the added failure of picking the wrong captain.

Kane, Aubameyang and Alonso all returned but unfortunately I’d captained Hazard despite mentioning the former 2 as strong captain choices in my write-up last time. Everyone else blanked and my transfer of Sane to Pogba cost me 7 net points overall. Needless to say I was cursing when he blew that chance in injury time at St James’ Park – sorry for bringing him in folks and putting the FPL Vet hex on him!

I’d accepted a while back that this really isn’t going to be my season. Luck certainly hasn’t been on my side, but I’ve compounded this with some bad errors along the way. Golf coaches talk about this a lot – how the mark of some of the best players isn’t necessarily about how brilliant they are, but how if they make an error they don’t follow it up with another one. I’ve been quite good at this in previous seasons but sadly this skill seems to have deserted me this year as well. As such, I’ve reassessed my aims and my plan now is simply to try and enjoy the second half of the season, try and rack up some big scores in the double gameweeks and just see where I end up.

GW22 Team

My priority at the moment (like most non-owners) is trying to work out a way to get Mo Salah back into my team. The problem is that I made the slightly rash move last week of burning my transfer on the Sane to Pogba move, so I can’t do it this week without a points hit and I don’t really see this as being profitable this week. Why? Well, I really like the fixtures of the players I’d potentially sell as enablers – Hazard or Aubameyang and Alonso. Chelsea vs Newcastle looks like a good clean sheet shout and could see some good attacking returns and I think Arsenal will score at least 2 away to a creaky West Ham defence that is now also missing Balbuena for 2 months.

Salah’s fixture is away to Brighton – looks good on paper, but The Amex is a tricky place to visit so I’m not convinced it will be a goal-fest like the Bournemouth match for example. Will Salah + a replacement defender minus 4 outscore Aubameyang/Hazard + Alonso this week? I’m not sure they will, so I’m going to roll my transfer this week on that basis and think again in GW23 as I’m completely undecided on how I should enable the move. I hope this isn’t another mistake, but the way my season is going…expect a Salah hat-trick! At least I’m working when the game is on, so I’ll only have to face the carnage when I finish my shift!

Looking further forward, the other concern for me is having no City cover as they seem to be firmly back on the goal trail now. They could explode against Wolves this week and I certainly expect them to against either Huddersfield in GW23 or Newcastle in GW24. The obvious solution to this for me is to buy Aguero back at some point with GW23 or 24 both looking nice entry points. Sane is another option, but with Mendy back in 2-3 weeks I think this may dampen his output longer term. The other concern is GW27 cover as City will have a blank week then. I guess it will come down to whether the Everton fixture gets moved into GW25 (an outside possibility but looks unlikely) or ends up in a later gameweek.

So for this weeks team, I’ve gone 3-4-3 with Kamara getting a rare start. There have been fitness concerns over VVD and Pogba over the last week but it looks like they’re both fit from what the respective managers are saying. I’m liking Aubameyang for captain this week (his stats are incredible) so I’ve put the armband on him though I’ll mull it a bit more tonight as Hazard looks a good option too.

All the best for GW22 folks – good luck!

Visited the beautiful Singapore botanical gardens today en-route back to NZ. Quick check in on team and appears no injury so rolling this week. I’m sure #NOMO will hurt again but want to kick the can down the road whist I decide who is sold for him. Good luck all.

I have been contemplating my second wildcard all week playing around with many different variations, but have decided to hold out!

I have made 2 transfers this week taking a hit one was forced due to Joe Hart being dropped so I no longer had a playing goalkeeper! So I have transferred Hart out for Guaita as he is very cheap and Palace have recorded the best clean sheets outside the ‘big clubs’.

My second transfer is Lingard out for Deulofeu as Watford have decent fixtures and Lingard has failed me for 3 gameweeks.

I plan on bringing in Rashford next week for Wilson.

Captain Salah.

Sergio Torija

Sergio finished with an OR of 17k last season and 21k in 16/17

GW21 points: 52 -4 (average 54) Total points 1,155 Gameweek rank 3,843k, Overall Rank: 795k, red arrow 106k, Team Value: £102.3m

A poor week in GW21 with another big red arrow of 100K. My triple move to bring Hazard in as captain failed miserably, and I also left good points in the bench. The only positives were the Spurs duo of Son and Kane, plus the Alonso clean sheet.

As many others, I was badly punished by Salah over the Christmas period after removing him before his hat-trick. Now it all seems about how and when to bring Salah back given his form and the great run of games that Liverpool start. However I fancy the matchups this week of all the players I would use to bring Salah back. So I am going to hold one week and hope I get away with it. Therefore next week I am looking at a double move at least for Salah with Son and possibly Hazard/Mitrovic going, or more possibly one extra transfer of Alonso to TAA.

In summary, Captain Hazard and saving transfer this week

Good luck for GW22 Geekers
