Introduction

This is part 2 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It won’t cover transfers in real time either. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.  The teams are shown as their “final-ish” teams so they could change.  Where they have twitter accounts I have shown this and they may update them there or on our Slack Channel which is part of our subscription Patreon site but this is not guaranteed

GW30 review

58 points, creating a small red arrow from 33.6k to 34.3k. Lingard the main cause of the red, as until then it had been green

GW31 preview

I am on wildcard. There was an argument to save it to make the most out of the possible upcoming doubles due to the re-scheduling of games so that fans can attend. My team was in need of a shake up though given I had more or less dead-ended into BGW29.

It’s been a tough wildcard as there are so many options but this is my current draft. It keeps Kane/Son for the GW32 DGW and has Gundo/Stones for the Leeds and maybe Villa games. GW33 is a blank for these 4, and the plan will be to move Son/Gundo to Lingard or Jota and potentially increase my Leicester cohort.

I’ve also kept Martinez despite the fixtures. He’ll pick up save points and any clean sheet could be a 10 pointer at anytime. He also has an extra fixture. I downgraded Pope to Forster.

Bruno was never going anywhere and I also kept Shaw.

DCL has also stayed for now, but there is a temptation to take him out for someone very cheap and upgrade Smith Rowe to Jota instead. With James back though I’m hoping he can get to goalscoring form.

Elsewhere I’ve removed Cancelo for Alexander Arnold, and brought back Salah for Liverpools great fixture run, and them needing to win most games to get top 4. Rudiger comes in for Chelsea defence and Iheanacho comes in for Watkins. Despite the double Watkins has underperformed for me for a long time and Grealish’s injury seems to still be lingering despite reports to the contrary. Leicester’s fixtures and Iheanacho’s form are both great, although I’m not overly confident he will maintain it.

As I said there were lots of midfielders I wanted. Jota, Mount and Lingard could easily have all featured, and at least 1 will be brought in for GW33 I suspect. I’d also like more Leicester coverage and Stones/Shaw could make way for a Leicester defender, although I was burned by Pereira for a few weeks last time I invested.

This isn’t final, but it is close. I haven’t ripped up my team but have made a number of key moves and took money out of the bench seen as I don’t need as much invested there anymore.

For this week I’m going Salah captain.

Good luck all

Kris O

Kris’s last 4 seasons overall rank were 39k, 44k, 46k and 23k

GW30 Points:  59   (FPL average 46) Total points: 1,951, Overall Rank: 41k, no rank movement: Team Value: £105.5m

I made it through this week with the smallest of green arrows – with my decision of Grealish in for gw29 biting me again and my one week gamble on Havertz only reaping a single point I’ll take it and move on.

I’ve activated my wildcard for gw31 and my latest draft is below.

I’m jumping on the Jota and Lingard bandwagons, allowing me to invest more heavily in defence. In fact I’m looking at Martinez and Lloris in goal giving me access to a couple of double gameweeks plus a defence including Alexander Arnold, Robertson and Dias.

My defence is completed with a Chelsea defender, currently Rudiger and I’m keeping Konsa for his good fixture in 33 for West Brom and the Villa double.

My midfield has Bruno, Mahrez as my city asset (this may change) and Smith-Rowe as my budget enabler. I’ve left enough money in the bank to switch Mahrez to Son in 32. I’m not a massive fan of having a Pre planned transfer, but this felt a good compromise to cover a city asset this week (albeit there is massive uncertainty about who will start) and Son for his double in 32.

I’ve got my preferred front three of Kane, Iheanacho and Calvert-Lewin. Calvert-Lewin is the most expendable given Everton fixtures are mixed in the short term.

Current captain plan is Kane.

I have two free transfers to use this week. My two week plan is currently one of two scenarios..

Scenario A: ‘Keep Rolling On’

Roll the free transfers through again this week, and next week, to use two for GW33 blank moves. Or until we know more potential double game week news.

  1. This week swap Ross Barkley to ESR (Emile Smith Rowe) while carrying a free transfer.
  2. Next week swap Gundogan to Son for the double game week while carrying another free transfer.

Scenario B ‘Get Trent Alexander Arnold’

Trent Alexander Arnold looks like he is back to his best again. I think part of the reason why is that Fabinho is back in midfield and not in CB. So they seem to look more likely to keep a clean sheet. Also, the England snub may light a fire in his eyes. If this is the case he could be a big rank gainer for the next 8 weeks

The issue is that getting Trent will make me go from rolling free transfers to needing to take a hit. It may be worth it though and I have considered even captaincy for Trent this week if I do it. I have a feeling Mo may be rested for part of the Villa match, as it is sandwiched between the Real Madrid legs.

  1. This week swap Barkley to ESR and also swap Cancelo to Trent. Both for free.
  2. Next week swap Gundogan to Son and also Konsa to Mitchell. For a -4.

(The rationale for moving Cancelo first is because this strategy is currently 0.1M off happening and would need Son or Mitchell to drop by next week. It should happen as both are close but it is not guaranteed. If it doesn’t happen I would need to downgrade a forward to get Son. If I move Konsa now, then the forward has to be Calvert Lewin to Vydra. If I move Cancelo now the forward could be Calvert Lewin to 6.7M and under. Players like Antonio, Watkins, Iheanacho. So really the reason is as a fall back. I also don’t think Cancelo is likely to start vs Leeds.)

What do you readers think I should do: ‘Keep Rolling On’ or ‘Get Trent’?

Either way, one transfer is constant and has been completed: Ross Barkley to ESR.

Captain: Salah
Vice: Kane

Good Luck!

Transfer summary: Barkley out Smith-Rowe in completed

Here’s Kev’s points from last week

Rob Cosgrove

Rob’s last 4 seasons overall rank were 64k, 45k, 40k and 23k

GW30 points: 68 – 4 (FPL average 46) Total points: 1,716, Overall Rank: 1,438k, green arrow 144k, Team Value: £103.9m

Rob has used his Free Hit chip

So I guess a -4 to bring in a Chelsea defender wasn’t needed! You can’t plan for a team to get a red card and collapse though and Chelsea will still keep more clean sheets I’m sure. Overall a great gameweek helped a lot by finally having captain Kane in my team!

The plan for this week is to fix the Bale problem. Even with the double gameweek coming up he just isn’t playing so he needs to go. I want Son for the double but Man Utd is not the best entry point so that transfer can wait until next week. I need Liverpool coverage again as their fixtures turn nice now and my immediate thoughts are to bring in Jota. I will most likely end up with Salah too when I wildcard but I am still holding out until the last postponed fixtures are scheduled in so I can take advantage of them and then bench boost.

I’m worried about my Man City players and can see myself owning none soon as the line up is even harder than ever to predict. I will gamble on starting Gundogan VS Leeds though but benching Dias as he has played 90 mins the last 2 games so may not have those ‘fresh legs’ Pep is talking about.

Captain is a tricky one this week. I’m currently on Kane due to form but no one really stands out to me. I will wait until after the Europa league games tonight to make transfers just in case they throw up some random injuries.

Transfer Summary: probably Bale to Jota with Kane captain
