Introduction

This is part 2 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It won’t cover transfers in real time either. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.  The teams are shown as their “final-ish” teams so they could change.  Where they have twitter accounts I have shown this and they may update them there or on our Slack Channel which is part of our subscription Patreon site but this is not guaranteed

GW36 review

First up on the playing side – what a fun weekend! Newcastle vs City set the tone on Friday night, the FA Cup Final on Saturday was a superb spectacle (well done to The Foxes) and how about that Allison goal on Sunday? Amazing – couldn’t happen to a nice guy, felt sorry for West Brom though – that disallowed goal earlier in the game was very harsh I thought.

As for FPL, a tough gameweek, lucky to escape with only a 2k red arrow in the end. Veltman’s continued absence and a late call-off from Jota (now out for the rest of the season) left me with only 9 starters which coupled with a points hit, was always going to make it a struggle to hold rank.

I did have 4/9 returners which on the balance wasn’t too bad, especially with Captain Mo Salah returning for a 20 pointer. There were also 1 pointers from the likes of Konsa and Bamford though, along with a disappointing blank from Calvert-Lewin against the league’s bottom side. A small red then, but I’m still only 10 points off the Top 10k. If you’d told me at the start of the season I’d be going into GW37 in this position, I’d have snapped your hand off! A quick turnaround then for GW37 and the return of fans to Premier League matches 🙂

GW37 Team

1FT and £1.0m in the bank.

I’ll keep things fairly brief this week, as I’m short for time for an extended write-up. I’ve narrowed my options down to:

1) Roll the free transfer leaving me 2 for GW38 – I’ve got 12 fit players, which should be enough…but I’ve seen the damage rotation can do.
2) Sell Jota – I’d bring Greenwood straight back in this instance. Bulks out my squad, but then leaves me a selection dilemma as I’ll have to leave out one of my front 8 (Bamford or Lingard the most likely fall guys here and both have good fixtures.)
3) Sell Veltman – annoyingly I’m in the good old FPL predicament of being 0.1m off the move I’d ideally make here which would be to bring Dallas in. I could bring in a cheaper Leeds defender to cover the clean sheet, but their defensive stats away from home aren’t as good (Burnley missed a hatful of chances in GW36.) Add to this it would leave me the same predicament of having to leave out one of my front 8 with Shaw, Alexander-Arnold and Rudiger all playing for 3 of the best 4 teams for clean sheet odds this week.

I’ll wait on the Pressers and make a call on Tuesday I think. If Veltman looks like being fit, that’s helpful and will probably affirm my decision to roll the transfer and have the luxury of 2 frees in GW38 where I can make 2 differential punts in a bid to either try and crack the top 10k!

For this week’s line-up, Konsa has the bench spot and with Pope likely still out for Burnley, I’ve got the armband on Mo Salah again unless the FFGeek captain poll suggests something otherwise. Good luck this week folks – I hope you enjoy the games. I’ll try and post my final team on Twitter in my late afternoon break at work.

Transfer summary: TBC. Could carry over the free transfer

Looking to transfer out Jota for GW37

For me the options are (not in order of preference):
•Greenwood, however real possibility of not playing 38
•Raphinha/Harrison
•Willock, gametime risk but enables a 38 mega upgrade
•Rodriguez, HA not likely after GW36
•Lingard, form is gone but still plays well forward, have to win, nailed
•Torres, Mahrez, Gundo, Foden etc., might not play and you can only blame yourself if that happens in this scenario imo Not pep. They won the league and we know they might not play.
•Pereira
•Mount
•Saint-Max, Saka, Benhrama, Ward-Prowse, or any other punt you want to make. I think only JWP have 100% game time out that lot

One thing I think we need to consider is, what do you want to do next week? For me I want Lingard. However, if I want to go Bruno to Mane in 38, I can only spend 6.1M. So maybe I will go Raphinha/Harrison. I need to think.

Transfer summary: To be confirmed

GW 36 Review

Another decent GW. I took a hit and still ended up with a green arrow. My team looks better with Son and Kane. Having Harry and Mo whilst they compete for the Golden Boot feels good. This is my fifth green arrow on the bounce and consolidates my position in the top 100K. It is been a challenging season and I will be pleased when it’s all over. It is going to be my worst season in the last 9 but I can still make finish in the top 1%.

I changed my captain shortly before the deadline from Kane (8) to Salah (10) which netted me an extra couple of points.

Zaha (6) scored, Dallas (6) kept a clean sheet and Trent (6) assisted Alisson for his wonderful goal.

It was looking like a clean sheet or two when Brighton and West Ham were goalless with ten minutes to go but it wasn’t meant to be.

GW 37 Preview

Jota is out for the rest of the season.

My likely transfer will be Jota to Greenwood or Raphinha/Harrison.

I don’t have any United assets and they play Fulham at home. My concern is his minutes with the Europa Cup Final looming. If he looks nailed for Fulham, I will probably get him in.

Expected transfer: Jota to Greenwood

Captaincy

This is tricky again. Kane and Salah look like great options as they fight for the Golden Boot. With Spurs at home in front of their fans, my armband is currently on Kane.

Expected captaincy: Kane

Transfer summary: Likely Jota to Greenwood

Ben Wooton

Solid week last week.
As I look at my team the concern is whether to play Iheanacho vs Chelsea. At the moment I feel more inclined to keep.
I have Vydra on bench plus cash so I can trade him out for Antonio or even Cavani. I could also upgrade Holding or I can swap Ward-Prowse out. I was most inclined to go Antonio but he had a poor game in GW36 with no shots on target and West Ham in shocking form.
I feel I will either roll a transfer now or take a punt on 3rd striker. I will try and let u know as soon as I decide
Anyway team below
Salah cap for obvious reasons Bruno vice
