Finally the International Break is coming to an end! Having a weak international side of Cyprus makes these breaks a nightmare (no FPL plus watching you country getting thrashed)
I was going to leave it to the last minute but I wanted to beat the price drop of Callum Wilson so I got Jimenez in. I was happy with rolling the transfer to be honest but the injury changed my plans. I hope Jimenez features but if not I am happy to play Coufal anyway who is first bench. Ben White gets his first start vs Norwich at home.
Wolves have a great run of fixtures and next transfer in is a defender.
I am currently sitting at 102K having 2:3 captain fails. Had I nailed the captaincy I would have been well under 30k OR so that means the players in my team are still good! I’m in no rush in playing my WC although if I did I would have made a lot of changes. Triple west ham and Triple united is no longer an option for me. Hopefully I can make the changes gradually and save my WC
it just feels soooo wrong transferring out for a hit Bruno Fernandes ahead of Newcastle at home. He will be my captain this week
good luck folks

Kris’s last 7 seasons ORs were 19k, 39k, 44k, 46k, 23k, 12k and 19k

Kris has activated his wildcard
I hit my wildcard shortly after the transfer window shut, unfortunately I missed early price moves – notably Torres.
Current draft is below.
Briefly in each position:
Keeper: I’m happy with my initial keeper choice of Bachmann, but may switch Foster if a long term injury.
Defence: Alexander Arnold is a main stay and I’m currently leaning to four defenders (dependant on my midfield, see below). Helpful to have a Chelsea defender, and Livramento seems the best cheapie – I also like Williams. Regulion, Shaw, Digne, Tierney, Semedo and Marcal are the main pool of players I’m looking at as a 6m Man City defender currently too much.
Midfield – Salah needs no explanation. Torres and Greenwood I’ll keep until they start rotating. I will likely squeeze the defence to get Jota in if Firmino is out for a bit. Sissoko and Allan are my preferred 4.5s, though I still like Gilmour who I started the season with.
Forwards – Ronaldo and Antonio are fixed. Currently favouring Bamford over Calvert-Lewin based on fixtures and fitness

Stephens last 5 seasons ORs were 22k, 86k, 43k, 52k & 64k
GW3 Points: 63 (FPL average 54) Total points: 248, Overall Rank: 121k, red arrow: 27K Team Value: £100.9m
Overall Rank 94k>121k
It felt a reasonable week, however I got a red arrow of 30kish which isn’t the end of the world at this stage. Captain Antonio did well for me with another double digit haul, Greenwood continues his returning streak, Salah’s 10 pointer and a clean sheet from Shaw were the main returners. My transfer in of Benrahma blanked but Sarr didn’t punish.
Son, Spurs defenders and City players were the key players that caused a red arrow I suspect.
It’s a strange gameweek with the surprise transfer of Ronaldo, so I’m glad I have 2FT. On the other hand I’m very indecisive about what I want to do.
My weakest links are
1) Ings, who despite returning in all 3 fixtures so far, has poor attacking stats, and has been a bit fortunate to return as much as he has. There is no doubt of his quality, and ability to score in any fixture, with few chances but with his fixtures now turning difficult he is my primary target out.
2) Coufal – West Ham defensively have been poor so far, conceding 5 goals in 3 games which looking at the team defensive stats is certainly not unlucky. After SOU is MUN and LEE, which isn’t great from a defensive point of view either but I’ll keep for this week at least.
3) Tsimikas – Has lost his place now but I’ve already lost the opportunity to bank the 0.1m. Just means my bench is thin with just 1 playing player. He also blocks a Jota move this week.
4) Fernandes – It’s certainly likely that Ronaldo’s introduction will hamper Bruno’s output. Ronaldo will probably take penalties off him and maybe free kicks (although that’s actually not certain in my opinion). His underlying numbers are pretty poor for his price too. The big question is whether to take him out to fund Ronaldo this week or wait. The issue is after NEW the fixtures are tough.
My wants are Calvert-Lewin (DCL), Jimenez, Ronaldo and a switch to Chelsea assets in GW7
Initially the plan was Ings to DCL and resolve the Tsimikas issue by getting Livramento with the two frees. I could also go Jiminez who also has great fixtures and for a more sustained number of gameweeks. I prefer DCL, as his underlying numbers about the best in the league, and is now on penalties. Jimenez numbers are also decent, and in particular his creative stats make up for the shooting stats compared to DCL. He also saves a decent chunk of money vs DCL.
This is still a strong option, but I now have to consider my Ronaldo options. If it were most other teams, I’d consider leaving it, but Newcastle at home is about as good as it gets at the minute.
So I can see 3 options
- Ings > Ronaldo and Bruno>Torres
- Ings>Ronaldo, Bruno>Jota, Tsimikas > Livramento (-4)
- Ings>Ronaldo, Bruno>4.5m bench, Obafemi> Jiminez(-4)
Wildcarding for me isn’t an option as I feel my team in general is strong enough.
My preference is option 3 at the minute. I don’t like the fixtures for Torres, and with Champions league round the corner I don’t trust his starting place still. Jota would be ideal but Tsimikas blocks this without a -4, and I just don’t think the hit is worth it given the uncertainty around how long Firmino is out for. I don’t really like the hit with 4 given the -4 is effectively for a bench player but I like Jiminez longer term for the reasons above. I still don’t know whether the -4 is worth it given I’m relying solely on the NEW game. It’s just the most captainable player/fixture combination you can get. I do think Jiminez(-4) outscores Torres over time though.
Decision will be made last minute. I do want to hear Ole’s press conference and also hopefully get an update on the DCL injury. If I do go the Ronaldo route I’ll captain him (as otherwise what’s the point) and if I don’t I’ll make Bruno or Salah captain. Team below (pre transfers)
Good luck all.
